Son of big al here. I will say the molt gear pose that you chose is probably one of the more vulnerable designs we have. Meaning the neck could bend where the chloroplast is not as wide. We are steering away from that older style of stake now and it is being replaced with spring steel which bounces back into place much better. Also fares well under a rubber mallet in frozen conditions. I personally have hunted over some of our older poses like sleepers and feeders for over 8 seasons from when we were just getting started. Attracts more geese or can withstand torture testing? Well done, but I’d like more focus on what looks best from the air to a goose. Whose black is less reflective or more Matt, ie flocked. Thanks
You could order a hunters haul box and review and test the random gear they send you in the box.

I don’t believe Big Al’s offers any flocking options. The fully and even the flocked head option on the Dive Bombs definitely give the decoy more pop and more visibility which is a big plus imo. But costs more too.
Didn’t even compare to the king of the silo world, Real Geese🤷. For the dark popping I picked up 18 dozen of the Real Geese Xclipse this year and the geese every hunt suck to them, so much so we started having to put them around the blinds. they have the Pro series cloth on both side and run around $85/doz. Very good contrast and no risk of glare a flat painted decoys has.
@@barrys4465 Naahh Bro Outlaws are the absolute best. Too bad they fell through. I remember being about 6 yrs old and highlighting the poses I wanted in the back of the Outlaws Magazine.
EDIT: Much respect to Real Geese though!!! Darrel Wise is the man and is up there with Tim Grounds in terms of goose hunting master class. IN YO FACE!!
Which make zero difference to the geese... but go ahead and spend your money.
@@mjuberian quality decoys make zero difference to the geese? Maybe if you hunting young uneducated geese and your on the X and that’s still a BIG maybe. I hunt educated geese and I’m running traffic. Good decoys and a good hide are crucial.
@@kross1261 Nice try but no, it basically makes zero difference. I have hunted waterfowl for nearly 60 years and have killed thousands of geese. Are quality decoys nice.. sure but 99% is about decoying you the hunter into spending ridiculous amounts of money and is simply not needed. I have used everything from tar paper home made decoys to full bodies.. they all work and have exclusivly used silhouettes for 35+ years. Agree on the good hide .

You’ve got to put out a big spread to really get them to work. 10 dozen or so, spread out fairly wide, so when they come over the top they still have plenty to look at and they don’t disappear. Otherwise I’d recommend running silos and full bodies mixed. The silos will add extra bulk to a couple dozen full bodies, and when they come over top…they’ve got plenty to see.
I’m 67 an been goose hunting 59 seasons. Use nothing but silhouettes and have killed a countless amount of geese over them. On occasion using as few as 2 dozen. Normally about 5 or 6 dozen
Maryland eastern shore goose hunter here. Nothing kills geese like a big black and white rig. Trust me. 20 dozen black and white silos will outkill a full body rig time after time.
