The fact people act like reggae soca and calypso are different categories when it’s Caribbean music is sad. Jamaicans have soca artist too. And it’s like saying rock and alternative rock is so different. They’re all same family. People need to stop being divisive
There will always be competition in Carnival because Trinidad carnival has been based on competition from its inception.
King and Queen of the band, calypso monarch, soca monarch, road March, panorama, literally every facet of the festival is based on winners and losers 🤷🏾♂️

It's sad that we have to worry about costume fails when we should be freeing up
The picture requirement for selection from a committee member to BUY a costume or a ticket for a fete is a business model but PLEASE make no mistake it’s discrimination at its best!!! To understand Trinidad carnival you must accept that it is a microcosm of Trini society. So all the colorism, racism, classism, fat phobia, exclusivity politics that happens in daily life WILL ABSOLUTELY manifest during the carnival season sadly
