@@cilantroe no. You can find a cracked egg in the nest, and after that the Last Stag changes name to Old Stag, clearly telling that even in Hallownest there is still at least one more, and it is younger
well fret no longer random commentor from over a month ago! If you find the egg in the stag nest that you can inspect but does literally nothing, the last stag's name will actually change to the "old stag" implying that there are more that we don't get to see
Like other people have said it's probably a stag lift, but I didn't know you could actually cause the chains to move by hard-falling on it, that's a really cool detail!
I know everyone is repeating “it’s an elevator” but I think it’s still kinda interesting. Like would it activate only when there was enough weight or could you control when it went? cause it would kinda suck if you were about to leave and another stag behind you didn’t get on in time.
It would trigger with the weight of a stag, and if a stag was small enough to not be able to use the elevator on their own, they could just take the smaller elevator.
In the room in the crossroads, all the platforms are actually non-functional elevators! Imagine what chaos it would be if they suddenly started moving.
@@Bram_Duin Yeah I just realized after playing again few weeks ago. Definitely not the switch to the normal elevator, as it indeed does come down without a switch. I think there is some area trigger which is not visible to us that brings it down.
Yeah no that’s not a switch. At first when I found it I wasn’t sure if it was for the player elevator to the right but then I tested it by sending the elevator up while I stayed on the ground without touching the “switch” and it still came back down by itself.

It's not. Elevator always triggers whenever you're below it. The big platform is supposed to be an elevator for stags, as they're much larger than most bugs.
As everyone else said it's a stag elevator. I hope in the future Hallownest gets rebuilt and the stags reproduce and it can be used again.

It’s an elevator for stag that you don’t have the weight to activate.
I figured the thing was meant for stags, but is there any way to get a stag to use it?

@@SGtidbits Just makes it easier to understand what you're dealing with.

Yup, considering other elevators react like that to stepping on them, it looks like it's also a lift but broken.

In HK lore this is a staglift. For the stags when they were alive to use. Look up some lore videos
The stags prob used it as an elevator and laid eggs in the place where the last baby stag was hatched
It’s a Stag-sized elevator.
You activate it in the video, but it’s broken, which is why only the chains move.
The chains are from the smaller elevator as it gets closer to the ground as it automatically lowers if a player jumps down.
what got me more confused was the foreground chains that followed
someone says that it's from the normal elevator going down
ya can't make it go up, it used to be a stag elevator. i dunno if there's a switch, i guess, no

The fact that desolate dive or descending dark still isn't enough force to match the stags weight...
I was confused about that too. I figured desolate dive would work but it didn’t, even from the top.
That's the same kind of platform you see in that one whispering root room in crossroads and the lowest part of the city storerooms

I've always felt like that should do something. But I suppose "stag elevator" makes sense.
If you use Desolate Dive, you can "press" it, which will move the chains in the background. That's it.
