Can also pressurize the whole system for $20-30 with a bug sprayer or compressor - there are tons of videos on it.

im catching your videos as they pop up, it is so easy to prime the oil system, you can do it by hand, i know the melling pumps are good, your stock oil pump is just fine, i reworked my stock oil system and im getting 70 psi on start up and just above 60 psi at operating temps, if we ever see each other in the future, ask me about this, and i will show you what to mod and how to prime it by hand so when you start it the oil gauge will shoot over.

Thanks bro !! When you rework your factory oil pump did you drill the side of the gear I saw it done on tv and they got higher oil pressure.

@@DIYWithTheRichardsons no, i took the pump apart and cleaned it up, found a lot of trash in the bypass valve, used carb cleaner and Q tips to clean it all out, lubed everything with 10w30 and put it back together, i did used a small nut, 3/8 by 1/8, it fit in side the release piston and was a little larger then the spring, did not notice any increase in resistance when i put the plug back in the pump, i can only guess that when i tightened the plug up this increased the resistance which gave a small increase in release pressure.

@@PappyDan yeah I think I saw that on engine power they used a washer behind the spring to give it more oil pressure and drilled the sides of the gear to increase oil flow

@@DIYWithTheRichardsons yeah i know that show, i watched that episode, watched them spend 6 grand on a 5.3 to make 430 hp and i spent less then a grand making 440 to 450 on a 5.3, let all this cold weather pass so i can get back in the parts yard to lay my hands on a tbss intake and the larger throttle body that will give me another 22 to 25 hp placing me in the 460 to 470 range NA, too bad that show is stuck using there sponsors stuff, if they could get away from it and show what all a machine shop can do and what all is on the market to use they could build some monsters everybody would drool over.

Would it be enough to just take the fuel pump fuse out and crank it normally for a few seconds?

Check your pickup tube make sure it’s not clogged , put some oil in your pump threw the opening and turn the gears by hand then reinstall the oil pump , once everything is back together open the oil gallery bolt on the side of the block pure about 8 to 12 ounces in and make sure you have oil in the engine it should prime

One thing that's been bugging me is on the video where you bolted the flywheel to the torque converter I never saw you put a wrench on those bolts. All I saw you do was hand tighten them. I'm hoping you check them before you start it up. I'm enjoying your videos.

Oh yeah that's all button up I try to show everything but it kind of slows me down so some things I do off camera I did it after I primed the oil I didn't want the torque converter spinning with out fluid filled all the way up.

@@DIYWithTheRichardsons I didn't want to see bolts go flying or you break a flywheel.

It's AMAZING what kind of results you can get when you do something properly huh? Oh yeah, and you've got a LOT to learn about cleanliness when it comes to engine internals. ALOT!
