I've had a similar case a few years ago but much worse. After filming an antique elevator on a private complex that was open to the public on the day I went, I was then confronted by a few people who are tenants of that building and they crossed way over the line of detaining me as I was leaving to the point where they even blocked the doorway and used physical force to pull me back inside until I delete all of the photos and videos I took. Putting the cherry on top, they also got a photo of me as I was leaving and so I'm basically banned from that property. Also, I looked this place up on Google Maps and the fine print next to the entrance only states that trespassers will be prosecuted if it's after closing hours, to which I assume you guys went there when it was before closing. Not sure if this has changed when you guys went.
I would've pushed them out of the doorway by force myself if they tried to prevent me from leaving. I would not delete anything and just leave. Were there any other exits in that building?
What they did was straight up illegal by physically detaining you because they are not the police so they could get in legal trouble for it. That’s really fucked up that happened
Gage and I had something very similar happen to us at the Fairfield Inn & Suites off of OH-161 in New Albany, Ohio. But when the manager followed us to our car to capture the plates to "report us to the cops", Gage actually tried to block her from getting the plate number, but we eventually left after Gage called her an "Entitled Karen". After that hellish experience, we never plan on going back there again.

Id do some research on the first amendment before making a statement like that. The first amendment applies on PUBLIC property, however owners of PRIVATE property can tell anyone to leave if desired. This doesn’t make up for the fact they were treated, but please please do your research about the bill of rights!

That lady was absolutely NASTY! Photography is NOT a crime! She can't make you delete pictures or videos that you took. The building is probably Private Property. But that lady went way too far. I don't know what else to say about her except that she needs to be fired. The one good thing that she didn't do is that she didn't swear at you. Yeah this Karen was trying to escalate the situation weather it was in fear or not. She was clearly looking for trouble. Sure it is private property and you did have to leave. However, she attempted to exceed her authority. Honestly I think continuing to record while leaving probably paid off so you could protect yourself from this insane Karen. While it's usually better to stop recording on private property since that's what they want you to do, recording you leaving probably paid off here.

It pisses me off when these authoritarian jerks do these things, and the fact that the elevator had a VERY epic motor just fuels my fire. The establishment already has about 95% of their reviews being very negative, and the way you both were treated today just about sums it up.
This is why most people don't do small motels. They can tell you to leave, not come back, and they can put a trespass order on you if you're not legitimately there, but the can NEVER tell you to delete videos, which is a violation of federal law. If the police got involved, and demand removal, that's the only time it's permissible. Sorry, but after watching the whole thing, she won. If it's clearly posted to not trespass, don't go. If it was not clearly posted, or poorly marked, you may have a case, but don't go back.
The sign she pointed at which is not very noticeable since it’s on a trash can at knee level was very faded had graffiti on it and I didn’t even notice walking in also. I do agree I’m never coming back here again.
I know I am in the minority for saying this, but I actually think the woman was well within her rights to behave the way she did in getting you off the property. If there was a sign that clearly said no trespassing, no matter how hard the sign is to read, you should obey that and maybe not film the elevator in the property. It’s not worth the risk especially for a grungy elevator like this. While she had no right to ask you to delete your footage as it is your property, you should have at least considered that this interaction would have been a possibility given the no trespassing sign. Elevator photography may be frowned upon, since the majority of people do not know what it is, however, there are many steps and precautions you can take to avoid being confronted, such as watching for clear signs that may indicate to a confrontation such as security cameras inside an elevator, and clearly posted signs like no trespassing.
If they didn't see the sign then it's a misunderstanding. That was the problem. The lady made a HUGE deal about a simple misunderstanding. Essentially I'm saying she overreacted negatively about it.
