    I stumbled across your youtube channel and have to say I’ve watched numerous videos on the Austin hand action on different channels but I could never quite figure out what the instructor was trying to teach. I pretty much have the Austin privot down but struggled with the hand action. I practiced your drills on my outdoor net and it felt like I was absolutely smashing the ball. Hoping to get to a driving range soon to see how this works for real (I’m in Illinois and most of the driving ranges except for indoor are closed but hoping to get down to Florida for a few weeks). I think you’ve got the best instructions on the Austin method by far on the internet.

      Ken, thanks for your generous comment. It took a long time to decipher what others were teaching but it was going back to listening to only Austin and Dunaway while ignoring all others that helped me learn it and bring that knowledge to others

      Thank you Brian I appreciate that. I had a rough few months. My dog went through a bout with cancer and ultimately lost. I had to fly up to Michigan to put my mom in assisted-living. Then my wife ended up in the hospital for a week and then had a long recovery at home. Things are back to normal now and I really appreciate you coming back to my channel.

      @@yoursimplegolfswing omg I played on a golf simulator and it was like bad grrr. I know you've done a bunch of videos on the hand action but if you could do one that the camera specifically focuses in and do it from 3 angles, down the line, straight on and from behind might be very useful 👍

    I imagine the one piece takeaway is out the window. This all sounds good and sensible and I'm going to try it plus subscribe/follow. thanks.

      Thank you for the comment and for subscribing. None of the golf greats use the one piece take away. The most remarkable thing that I’ve discovered is that after all these years and all the innovations and Golf, no one has been able to match the distance, the Mike Austin could generate. Even Mike Dunaway has not been matched. His equipment is gotten better instruction is gotten worse. My intent with this channel is to bring to light the wisdom of long since forgotten golf instruction by the longest hitter of all times.

    Hi Mike... I purchased your course, and I'm watching the modules over and over getting something new each time. Finally know what you mean by the hand break implementing the inside swing path, along with keeping the preset (45*) wrist set. In the "grip" segment, my question is, in pushing with the lead thumb and trail hand on the downswing, what degree of tightness are in the fingers? I've heard it said from, holding a bird loosely with the fingers to just allow the club to do what it's supposed to do, and again, to hold it like you're having blood drawn, which is quite a bit different. It seems like holding it loosely allows the handle to move around in your hands, but it feels like it's actually moving faster with no impedance. Can you please help me out with this... thanks a bunch. Al

      @yoursimplegolfswing  8 місяців тому

      Hi Al. The lighter your grip pressure the freer and faster your swing will go, and as you said, it will become less impeded. You should grip the club, just tight enough to keep it from coming out of your hands and to maintain control of the club on your backswing because once you start your transition and downswing, your hands will automatically tighten your grip. This is a matter of reflex. we want to minimize the amount of tightening that automatically happens in the downswing. Let’s say your automatic reflexes double the tightness in the grip in the downswing. If you have a tightness factor of let’s say three out of 10 in the backswing and it doubles to six in the downswing OK. But if you have a tightness of five in the backswing, then you would have a tightness of 10 in the downswing which will cause considerable impedance. Does that make sense?
