    Golf is a game of misses....i have learned that to play good golf, you have to practice all the time in order to minimize your misses....like playing any sport or a musical instrument, if you dont practice enough with intense focus, you will never maximize your potential.....also, i have had lessons from several different pros and watched endless videos, and what i have learned from that is i need to practice on my own and stop listening to too many people.....understanding ball flight helps a lot. Having said that, you are trying to help and that is appreciated

      Yup. There are plenty of golf instructions available, it's up to you to experiment and interprete and ultimately solve your own problems with or without external help.

      @@v205 I agree with what you’re saying with a couple of caveats. You need to start with a good foundation. The problem is that most people don’t realize this and they spend a lot of time experimenting from tips they see from all sorts of different instructors. Unfortunately, nobody takes the time to find out what the origins of the particular swing that these instructors are giving tips on. If you’re taking tips and experimenting on things that start with faulty fundamentals, you’ll never reach your goals in Golf. Despite what everybody says, there is such thing as a perfect swing. There is a swing that will work for 99% of the population. Mike Austin and Mike Dunaway possessed and taught that perfect swing. If you start your experimentation from the fundamentals built into that swing you’ll have much quicker and lasting success.

      What do golf and marriage have in common? By the way this joke is better if you say it out loud to a group of women. "It's all a matter of how you manage your misses." 😂😂😂

    Good setup advice. Golf is ultimately a game of precision technique and consistency and similar to throwing darts. Therefore accuracy is one of the key skills required!

    Good morning Matt. Just re-watched one of your videos several times. One thing you said that you didn't really emphasize is the aggressive turn of the shoulders. Maybe emphasize this more as I think it will help people (including myself of course) from swinging too much with the arms. It also seems to help with timing, which has been a bit of an issue with me. This method and your teaching is legit as I tried it on the course for the first time and hit some really good shots. Still lacking distance and a few times I miss-hit; but that's on me to work the swing method.

      Rowdy. Thanks for your comments and questions. I appreciate it. I’m glad you brought this issue up. I’ve been meaning to do a video along the lines of what you’re speaking about. I’m going to do my best to get that video this week if my schedule permits. Thank you for endorsing the method and my teaching I really appreciate that. Keep up the hard work stay tuned for more.

    Hi ,
    Greetings from the UK.
    Is it the same set up for the Irons ?..Thanks

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  5 місяців тому

      Yes, it is the same set up and same swing for every club in your bag. The only difference in set up is the ball position and address. The longer the club the more forward in your stands you place the ball. As the clubs get shorter, and you place the ball closer to the center of your stance. But everything else remains the same.

    Hi Matt. Been watching your swing pretty intense for the last few days. I usually shoot mid to low 80's, but without CONSISTENCY, so it feels like i never know where the ball is going. Going to try this today and see how things go. One thing I'm still trying to understand is where your power is coming from and how the ball is going so far with all clubs Driver to PW. Any insight would be great. Also I was in the Air Force also! Remember you saying that. Have a good one.

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  5 місяців тому +1

      Hi Rowdy, great to hear from an Air Force alumni, thank you for your service. Thank you for watching my videos and for your question. That’s a really big question, where is the power coming from? What I’m teaching is a total swing system, and if I had to boil it down to one statement, that explains where all the power comes from, I would have to say it comes from using all 12 levers unimpeded. The way that Mike Austin taught us how to use our legs, hips, hands, and wrist, and maintaining the Seven allows us to swing the club in the most natural unimpeded way possible. What probably separates our swing from the rest the most is the weight shift and the hand action. Those are key and vital to the power that we can generate. But those two things alone won’t do it they must be combined with all the other aspects of the swing that I teach in my lessons. Learning this swing will give you the consistency that you currently lack and soon you’ll be shooting in the 70s.

      Thanks for the response. Yes maintaining the 7, I understand now with the aggressive shoulder turn....that helps me understand the movement better.@@yoursimplegolfswing

    Question about that right knee being kicked in at address? I've experimented with it after seeing a friend do it and it seems that I make crisper contact with the ball but when I was asked "why, how does it help?" ... I don't have an answer. Any thoughts about it?

    • @rowdyrich69
      @rowdyrich69 5 місяців тому +1

      It keeps the shoulders, hips, knees parallel to the target line (so you don't swing too left of target line). Think Matt Wolfe, but he does it much more aggressively. Matt can correct me if I'm wrong.

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  5 місяців тому +1

      Golf is a game of measurements and angles. Kicking the right knee in helps us keep Square to the ball and parallel to the target line. Our stance helps to dictate how we take the club back and bring it back down. If our shoulders are open and not in line with our feet and knees, we will take it back to the outside, and bring it back down outside in which will cause more of a glancing blow. There is nothing crisp about a glancing blow, you feel that crispness because you were now hitting the ball squarely.

  • @rowdyrich69
    @rowdyrich69 5 місяців тому

    Matt, quick question. Your backswing looks long. Are you getting the feeling of holding a pizza with your right hand or are you feeling shorter than you think?

    • @yoursimplegolfswing
      @yoursimplegolfswing  5 місяців тому +1

      Yes and yes. I never worry about my club going past parallel, I think that rule is bunk. In watching Mike Dunaway’s swing I notice that he often went past parallel. Bobby Jones went past parallel and many other greats. Obviously the most extreme who is John Daly.

      Not hitting slices. I’ve noticed a lot of my shots go high and left.
