I've been cross stitching for years, and you always teach me something. The posts and fence panels are a great example to visualize what you're saying.
You have a wonderful voice for teaching. Love your videos.

This video is so well timed as I managed to add an extra row to my current pattern this afternoon! The fence analogy is such a great way of explaining how the errors occur. Thank you Ford!

Thank you so much for this video! It’s exactly what I’ve been looking for. I just started cross stitching and my current project has been off by one, and I really couldn’t quite understand how I was counting wrong.

Thank you Ford, that was so helpful! I always start in the bottom right, so I'll be counting from there. Thx!!!!

Fantastic video. I've been cross-stitching for about 3 years now, but I still have a question that I can't find a definitive answer to on the internet. When I finish a project, what is the correct way to finish it if I don't want to leave it in the hoop, but in a frame for example? What do I do so that the fabric doesn't unravel, do I glue something behind it to prevent this from happening? I always want to have my projects in frames and I'm never sure what steps to take when I finish the project. Thank you

I stitch from upper left to bottom right. So I don't have that counting problem. But once in a while if there are a lot of same colors but different shades I can mess up. If they are close in shade I let it go.

If I was counting from the c to the next block of letters I would go to the end of the bottom row of the cxxxx then to the first on that row from the left count 6 blocks down then I am at the 4 th stitch of the f and go from right to left .6 empty blocks 1 st stitch of the f is on the 7 th row. In the video I believe although 6 empty blocks are mentioned with his pen only 5 would be empty . There is nothing to stop you placing a pin in the correct place .A loop stitch start at the 4 th stitch of the top of the f just by counting 6 down and working right to left seems easy to me but I am left handed

I will use one strand of thread to “count” a long space and then once I anchor my two strands, I remove that single strand.

It appears to me that you actually only left five empty rows between the C and the F? And so your first F stitch is placed one row too close to the C instead of as the pattern shows.

Lol, yup. In my defense it's hard to see without sticking my head in front of the camera. But I guess it's a case of "do as I say, not as I do"!

I saw that, too. Had to take a 2nd glance to make sure I wasnt seeing or hearing things wrong. This totally confused me at 1st & had to go back & forth a couple of times to make sure I understood it but then realized he'd made a mistake.. we're all human & at least I'm experienced enough to realize this was a mistake, otherwise, I'd be looking for clarification. I don't think Ford realized what he did.. but we're all human. I see the humor & irony of this video.. all good fun..

To remove stitches you have made in error.

Frogging is a stitchy term meaning to remove your stitches if you make a mistake. The name comes from saying Rip It , which is similar to ribbit!
Here's a blog post on the most used stitchy terms
