The LAST Putting Lesson You Will Ever Need - 3 Simple Tips
Вставка
- Опубліковано 14 чер 2024
- I've lost count of the number of times I've heard amateur golfers say
"my putting isn't great but don't worry Danny I will sort it, let's concentrate on driver today"
But do you know what...they never do. Months and years pass by and they are still missing short putts and struggling to control their distance.
Does this sound familiar?
Don't worry I'm not judging you. I've spent a whole year doing the exact same thing ignoring my 5 second putting system and as result putted like a complete beginner.
What's crazy is I used to have a reputation of being one of the best putters on the planet.
But that was before I got lazy.
Years ago my childhood coach gave me a simple 5 step system to follow and I did it religiously. It almost guaranteed a perfect putting stroke every time. I wouldn't hole every putt of course, but it was super rare to see me miss a short putt and I'd almost never 3 putt.
Fast forward to today and the wand is back in the good books. I'm being disciplined and following my childhood system every time.
There are no short cuts in life, if you want to get good at anything you have to put in the work but If you want the results to come to you a little quicker it does help to follow a proven system.
This is mine. I hope it helps you too 👉 • The LAST Putting Lesso...

ABOUT DANNY
-----------------------
Thanks for stopping by. I created this website as a resource just for you to support you on your golfing journey as I know how tricky learning this game can be…to say the least!
I personally found learning the game too long and difficult in the early days. I read all the books, watched all the videos but my game was not improving. Then after studying various forms of neuro science, motor learning, psychology and personal development in less than two years I went from struggling golfer to the final stage of the Open Championship.
On UA-cam and my personal website (www.dannymaude.com) I will bring you the most up to date training, training that is getting tangible results for my clients right now. I don’t know where you are in your golfing journey, you could be just starting out or maybe your body isn’t as flexible as it once was or you’ve got ambitions to slash your handicap. Wherever you are I’ve created a place here you can learn, share your ideas, ask questions and get all the support you need to enjoy this great game.
Be prepared though. If its a quick fix you are after Im not your man. Here I will give you step-by-step advice that you can take straight to the practice ground and apply to the course but it will require you to get stuck in, screw up…a lot, practice some more and then watch those scores tumble
I’ve had the pleasure of coaching thousands of students all around the world and if you are up for the challenge and are ready to get in the game…LETS GO TO WORK!

I will show you the golf swing slow motion so that you can see what you need to do to improve.
We look at 3 things:
1. How to stop slicing your driver
2. How to swing more in to out or how to swing more inside out
3, How to get the correct impact position with driver
and I hope to do all this with simple golf tips so you can create an effortless golf swing - Спорт
Great reminder of some basics, which I tend to deviate from over time. Thanks!
My putting was going wayward this year and costing me greatly.. These are great tips Danny. A great reminder to get back to the basics and stick to the routine. Will be ‘putting’ this into practice over the summer break ready for the new year of golf. Merry Christmas from Aus and keep up the great work.
Thank you 😁
Love this video. Your chipping video has changed my golf life and this simple 4-step putting drill will help me with the flatstick.
Brilliant Mike happy to hear it 😁
Love the 1-4 Steps, helps me get my mind off everything else! What a great lesson
Great to hear! Hope it helps
Danny you are always so clear in your explination. Thank you appreciated
Thanks 👍
I seem to have lost my putting ability but your tip about getting your head over the ball and almost "hunching" has worked a treat. I hadn't realised how much I was moving away and standing up. Thanks Danny!
Brilliant video and instructions WOW have I ever been way off Thanks Danny 👍👍
You always make it simple and practical. Thanks Danny!
Pleasure Scott !
Just saying here that few pro videos online will help the individual but Danny is worth watching a lot. Thanks 🙏🏼 Danny.
I appreciate that Nathan
Excellent advice! Great to get into this routine.
Thanks Danny
Pleasure Rob 😁
I'm enjoying the game so much more with your insights. I also enjoy learning what to do, thanks a bunch!
Thank you Jim 😁
Thanks for the tips Danny. Tried this on the course today and it helped enormously with consistency. Cheers
That’s great Steve
Thanks Danny - long overdue, for this golfer! Can't wait to get on the putting green again
Have fun Paul, all the best
Thanks Danny, practice and patience 🌟
Absolutely Susan
Love this, great tip Danny. You mentioned so many things I normally overlook!
Thanks Jay 😁
This is a corker. I got the 1,2,3,4 in person tip a few months back and it really works. The flow we had in the games of our youth is still there. And it really makes putting fun again and reduces the incidence of muttered foul language. Thanks Danny.
It really does John 😁👌
November 28th 2022 was the first time I've tried to hit a golf ball. I'm trying to not develop bad habits in the beginning. This is what I've got so far...
ua-cam.com/users/shortsrBx1Skx4odQ?feature=share
Any specifics I should start with first? Sorry about the music, I added it as a joke for my dad...
Absolutely brill info. Will go through this routine next time at the club.
All the best Ian
Thanks Danny, I will work on this routine every time .
All the best Veeru
Many thanks Danny for this putting lesson . My 2nd indoor lesson since last week (6’ exercises for easy swing) I feel great for the coming season 😂❤!!Merci
Thanks Bany 😁
Mint videos Danny , halved my handicap thanks to your channel mate , thanks 👍🏻💪🏻
That’s awesome to hear
This is the lesson we all need most of us drop far to many shots around the greens thanks Danny 👏👏👏👏
All the best Dave
This showed up in my email today. WOW. We are under a foot of snow here and today I decided to bring my putter to work where I have long hallways. Today. The day the putter drill shows up. Totally awesome and thank you Danny!
Good timing 😁👍
Thanks Danny again for that great tips😊
My pleasure! Hope they help
Brilliant! Been waiting for this one.
All the best Ralph
I watch your videos every Saturday and putting has been my weakest part in spite of my practicing. Your 1234 drill helped me so much! I’ve played 3 rounds and have seen a big improvement. The 1234 keeps me away from getting in my head and gives me focus that isn’t thoughts. Thanks!!
That’s great Laurie, wonderful to hear
Great info as always. 🎉❤
Completely agree that round the green is surely where us amateurs ship strokes. We can't expect to get in on in regulation every time so we need to sharpen our short game. Thanks for this Danny and your chipping vids. Keep it coming!
Thank you appreciate the support 👍
Cheers Danny. Handy list of things to check and make sure bad habits are not creeping in.
Thanks Richard 👍
Thanks for the tips . I have just completed my 1st year playing golf and I have found that there is no substitute for practicing. It is a great sport .👍🏽👍🏽👍🏽
Definitely thank you !
Fantastic, Danny! I just followed your simple steps on the practice putting green and had IMMEDIATE improvement in my putting results. Thank you again!
Brilliant Jeff well done !
You just validated my putting stance and stroke! I can’t wait to show my “know it all” playing partners! Thanks again!
Happy to help Mike
Great video Danny! The thing i struggle the most is figuring out how to adjust the distance when a putt is uphill/downhill. My distance on a flat putt is usually "ok" (within a foot/foot and half) but as soon as i've got the same distance with a bit of an uphill, i very often fail to adjust, leaving the putt 5 foot short, or blasting it past the hole. Would love to see tips on how to gauge the slope and adjust the stroke length/speed accordingly. Unless it's all a matter of feel!
If it's a slow ish group, take a walk and circle around the ball and pin, this will allow you to see the slope from all angles. And it is just on feel as most public courses in your area will have very varying greens that need a different touch. Make sure to use the practice green and not just the range prior to a round
Brilliant! Thank you so much! Happy Holidays to you!
Thank you 😁🙌
Great to see this. My putting is a pretty strong point of my game and I know why now ... because I do most of these things. I'm definitely in the 10% for posture. This video validates the bits I'm doing well and gives me a couple of extra things to consider that hopefully will ingrain further confidence in my putting. Thanks Danny
That’s great Brendan, thanks for sharing
Thank you Danny....top stuff as usual.
Thanks Stuey, all the best
So good thanks Danny!
Pleasure Bill, all the best
Great video Danny & something to do on the lounge carpet during the winter weeks before venturing to the course!
That’s where I practice Martyn
Great simple advice.
Thank you Malcolm 😁
Good advice as usual, especially the rhythm section
Thanks Dave ⛳️
Appreciated the steps!
Last evening I find the Putting Lesson You Will Ever Need on youTube.
Today I had a Senior Completion on My club Tranås GK.
I practice your advice on putting green and I felt directly that this will help me.
Today I did my very best round this year with a 67 net and only 31 putts.
I totally agree with you that tis is the only drill you ever need.
Thank you !
Love this Danny, needed a solid system on the green 👍🏻
Love to hear how you get on Tony
Great tips as usual Danny, the only thing I would add is when you look at the hole in the routine #1 visualise it plopping in 😊
Thanks Danny
Always 👌
Listened to Cam Smith after he won The Open. He sorted his "bad" putting Saturday to great putting Sunday with a short mirror session. I purchased a mirror. Like you showed I had the ball way to far forward which not only affected my strike but my alignment adversely. For me it worked out that I had the bridge of my nose over the ball for proper alignment and strike. It felt really weird to start but as more putts fell. No longer weird.
Thanks a mill Danny. Never putted as well as i did today after following your advice!
Thanks John 😁
Just starting to play again after an 8 year break and this video has urged me to get on the putting greens and develop a routine and not just keep going to the range practising drives and irons, thanks Danny
Brilliant tip Danny. Thanks for the video. It’s uncanny you know what I need 😄
Happy to help Geoff 👍
Danny, just used your tip about putting posture. Noted I was too upright and kept pushing all my putts. Once I correct my posture as you described (putting my head straight down ) . I started hitting all my putts Straight. Just got back from shooting my best round of the year and no 3 putts! Thank you.
Great video, Danny. Hopefully, we'll see more of the other half of the game in future shoots.
Thanks John 😁
Great content and 100% putter is the most important club in the bag. If your shaving strokes off your round it's usually your putter. Nice simple routine KIS works for me.
All the best Rob
Thank you Danny. Three putts is destroying my game. Will be using these tips to improve my putting.
Great tips Danny 👍
Thank you Alan, all the best
Great video, thanks Dan ! 😎👍
Pleasure Ken 👍
Thanks again Danny.
No problem Patrick 👍
Excellent tips thank you 👍
No problem David 😁
I love that you’ve done a putting video. Sucks though, cause I live in Canada. And I have no green to practice on. But I’m gonna try the “1,2,3,4” routine. I’m saving this video until spring. 😆
Thank you hope it helps 😁
This is very good advice for most people. It’s a typical modern setup, and stroke. However, I changed something one day, and had the best putting day of my life. 23 total putts, for a -7(65). I had been struggling to make putts, so I set up like Jack Nicklaus almost as a joke, on the first hole. Feet close together, and feet very open to target. From there, I just sorta pushed the ball onto my start line. The results were amazing. 13 one-putts(some for par). I don’t recommend this for everyone, but it not only allowed me to see my line better, but it also allowed me to start the ball exactly on that line. I’ve since gotten away from it, and have been struggling again. I think I’ll go back to that weird way of putting, and see what happens. lol
Sounds super cool Jamie
Excellent video mate
Cheers Tim, all the best
Will take this to the practice green this morning. Cheers Danny
All the best Dave
Tried this today and 60% of putts were so much closer to the hole. We won’t mention the other 40%! I just need to embed the drill. Thanks for another super helpful lesson.
So, I'm practicing this in my office and it really works. Can't wait to take it to the course!
Enjoy ! 😁
Hi Danny, Talk about lazy….I carry around the mirror in my bag all season and the only time I have taken it out is in the winter when I decide to practice inside. I appreciate the reminder to use the knowledge and equipment that I have rather than just being frustrated and telling people “I am a really horrible putter!”
Thanks 👍
Great simplification of the putting stroke, love the lessons you provide have you ever thought of doing on course management and course reviews?
Thanks Alan and plenty planned for the future 😁
like the 1,2,3,4 sequence - I’ve had good results on distance control with lag putts with making the look back from the target to the ball, and the backswing, into one motion - effectively merging the 2 and 3 of your sequence into one. I don’t do it all the time, but one to try
Keeps the whole routine flowing
I took the 1, 2, 3, 4. Sequence to the course tonight after watching this video earlier today and it made a big difference to my distance control.!
Brilliant Stuart well done 👍
Brilliant Stuart well done 👍
Good tip.... I like to pace the distance to the hole. Typically a putter swing to the outside of the right foot putts the ball 5 paces... Add a ball width per pace. Massive help with confidence on putt lengths
That’s great Andy, thanks for sharing
Thank you Andy for a valuable tip.
Thank you for a great putting routine. It should really help to lower your score.
It’s really helped me get back on track Alan
Excellent!
Glad you enjoyed it Rick
Thank you again for another great tip. You introduced me to Peter Cowens with your chipping video. I am wondering why you, in this video differentiate what Pete teaches in the putting stroke. Pete uses the straight back and forth like Brett Snedeker. I would like to know why you think your method is better. Keep up the great work you do and I love your videos.
William superb Danny heading out today will try this😊
Love to hear how you get on William
@@DanielMaude hi Danny just finished a round took 14 shots of my round today absolutely fabulous advice 👌👌
Awesome cadence advice -
I’ve been doing that with my driver and irons … now I have a putter cadence
😉😎
Thank you Dave’s 😁
Great instruction as always. I certainly think getting the correct posture and set up with eyes over the ball stops you looking up too early which is a killer
Definitely Guy 👍
Great Putting Tip Danny! I'm like you! For the past year, my putting has been in a slump! Far too many 3 putts and sometime, I hate to admit a 4 putt! I have always used a palm grip with the left hand and not so much with the right hand. I try to use a consistent light grip and an upright shaft angle matching the forearms. I'm not missing the putts by far, but I'm still missing them. I'll wager that my putting is costing me upwards to 10 strokes a round. I really feel that the problem is being caused in in take away. Anyway, good video Danny! Keep up the good work!
Thanks John hope the video helps you !
I was wondering why your tips did not include pitting lately. As always, love the video tip, simple and direct.
Thanks Joe 👍
Thanks Danny. Now I know where my putting inconsistency comes from 😁! I’ll start working on this system immediately.
Thanks Eric 👍
@@DanielMaude …went out today and put it into practice…guess what…I putted better than I have for a long time! Thanks again Danny.
Hi Danny, love the video, where is the practice plan? Thanks!
Nice video sir
Thank you 🙏
This has been a massive help to me this week. Thanks Danny!
Oh yeah! Putting....the great equalizer. Thx Danny.
Pleasure Kim 👍
Thanks as always Danny! Question; what grip do you prefer putting?
Been looking for someone setting up over the mirror the right way. Gonna reallly focus on that proper setup.
Hope it helps 👍
thank you
Pleasure
Great lesson, one of your best. Who sells that putting mirror? Maybe I’ll ask Santa for one. Thanks a mil.
Thanks for the video, where did you get that putting training side from? I like that it shows you the arc..
Great putting tips...I hope these will help me drop a few strokes! What is the mirrored putting aid you are using?
There's no escaping the Danny Maude swing Awk! 😁😁😁
Must get this mirror❤
Great lesson as always Danny. My biggest problem is distance control. Nothing more frustrating than having a perfect line and coming up short
Thank you Bob! Hope it helps 👍
Great video as always! I don't see a practice guide link on this one though and I don't find one in the list on your website. Am I missing something? Thanks!
Hi Danny, great one ! You should do more video's on putting (as it is 40% of all shots)
Thank you!
Holy, level shoulders helped right away!! Now going down the rabbit hole is grip selection lol
Nice a comfortable grip
Cross grip seems to work for me on short putts…now not sure if I use standard grip for longer putts and cross for shorter
Great video! My putting was the best part of my game but has slipped lately. Tried this on my last round and had great results. Now I just do the routine (my posture was definitely bad) I changed it from 1-2-3-4 to 1-2-3-center of putter and my stroke is much freer and my contact better. I realize now I was spending too much time over the ball and thinking too much about my stroke. You are the best! PS If you are ever in the part of the world with Bermuda grass, would love to see tips on how to pitch/chip from it....
Thank you happy to hear it helped and will do 😁👍
That swivel of the neck to look down the line of the putt, both before but especially after impact is not given the exposure it deserves. Olazabal has always been a master at it.
Thanks Tim
Great advice as always, BUT, if I may make so bold, I can't agree with the comment about "reading" the putt sideways. Surely it's better to stand or squat behind the ball, look for the line with binocular vision, choose a spot within your peripheral vision when addressing the ball and roll the ball over that spot. Everything else in the videos is absolutely spot on. I just don't think you can line up a putt looking at it sideways.
Yes what I meant by that was it’s easier to visualise the ball going in from there 😁
Just brilliant, knocked 5 strokes of my normal round.
Amazing John
Thks vm, Danny.
Still and besides what you explain well, I hv problems with what grip should I use in order to keep my wrists straight. Not to open nor close them. Any tip for that ?
Best regards from Caracas, Venezuela
Another fine video and tips. Nice routine. I've seen some looking at the target as they stroke the ball vs looking down at the ball, any thoughts? Thanks
I’ve seen it work for some people so would never argue against it
@@DanielMaude I've found that in general I do better looking at the target as I strike. I think one of the things it helps we with is judging the energy needed to cover the distance ball to hole. Thanks. Always enjoy your tips
Great stuff…… do you concentrate on hitting with hands, arms or shoulders??
Danny, I appreciate the tips on keeping the head over the ball. A problem that I am having with putting right now is maybe 5 out 10 putts are rimming around and out of the hole. I am not over hitting the ball. Or at least not in my feelings
I have the same problem?
Here is a tip from pool I use to put to piggy back off of center of the ball (billiards) over your gaze like you said.
Figure out which is your dominant eye. Make a diamond with your hand to just cover everything except a round object in the distance. Now close your left eye and then your right eye. The eye that keep the ball in view is your dominant eye.
Now, put that eye over the ball, not your nose nor so it seems to be in the middle. Dominant eye then open both. You will now aim where you meant to and hitting it more square.
like it, thanks for taking the time to share
N.P. I was just scouring if there were any techniques or strategies to incorporate this and actually came across the old school plumb bobbing technique. I haven't tried it out yet, but I will report back.
Also, I tried to exaggerate rounding my shoulders more like you said and I found my pendulum to feel more consistent. I typically always pinched my shoulders blades together without noticing. Awesome tip I did not even know I needed! @@DanielMaude
