Ahhh Ambanja ,there where I nearly died of Malaria coming from NosyBe( Which I hated) .I was 24 and I remember fainting in a little hotel owned by a old Comorian guy .I wonder if Dr Dumbell is still alive.Well the road as they are now are much nicer than back in the days in 1994.

I have only been in Madagascar for the past 10 years it must of been a completely different place back in the 90s.
Malaria is a dangerous thing we've lost two of my wife's cousins in the last few years to malaria they were both big strong 25 year olds but the family refused to pay for proper treatment they ended up with just sugar water 💧 which wasn't enough to save them, Madagascar can be a dangerous place.

@@passivenomads Yes and no.I loved it and hated it at the same time but I must say that it was the best school of life for me in my early twenties. No regrets! I will say maybe some things were easier ,a lot have changed but I can't tell if its better or worse. The people in power still the same though.I had a friend of mine whose father was the minister of Agriculture under Ratsiraka and who had the guts to slam the door to Ratsiraka and resign. He told me once these words that I will never forget "I will never understand this country" Coming from a Malagasy intelectual formed in France this was very deep and said it all. Thanks for your videos mate ,it was great going down memory lane.

@@passivenomads Something special about the 90's though were the parties and the mini civil war with the Federalists.Often in Tana one or two hand grenade will blow or some shootings between soldiers with the Federalist in Tulear like Monja Jaona and another guy who try to took control of Antsiranana and was always flanked his two beautiful gf .Obviously they all died together shot by a commando from Tana.So that was the picture from the 90's ,haha 🤣

Great video mate! Have a nice trip to the south!
Ps. How easy is it to make friends with Malagasy people? and also how is dating for a while male? Are people eager or are they a little afraid like some of the teenagers in an earlier video of Nosy Be showing them fishing in a river and being sort of shy/afraid?

You've put smile on my face with you're comment 😊 it's very easy to make friends with the locals.
As for dating most girls / lady's have a dream to be with a foreign man.
If you won't a one night stand you can literally click you're fingers and you've got a date for the night.
Although many girls you meet are not a prostitute they will expect you to pay for there night out and even give them a cash gift for there taxi home and to help feed there family.
If you're looking for a serious relationship don't take a girl from the bar or night club, find a nice lady that works a normal job would be a nice plan.
Every one wants to be friends with you, some as there generally a nice person, others hope to get money from you.
If you serious about making good friends find ones with a university education or people that at least have a skill or a job would be my advice.
It's only normally 2 year olds to 9 year olds that run from foreigners as there mum's & dad's tell them " IF YOU DONT GO TO SLEEP NOW OR STOP CRYING THE WHITE MAN WILL COME GET YOU AND TAKE YOU AWAY " LOL.
I was shocked to see them boys in my video run away in Nosy Be its normally only seen in the wild out of the way remote places.
