Her thoughts and feelings come out so naturally and you are so drawn to her world without knowing. That really is the kind of charisma that is needed as a performing artist. You get inspired and moved.
Some people criticize the way she plays, but she doesn't care. She is just so inspired and inspiring.
She is such an intelligent thoughtful performer.... It's like every note she plays has been contemplated and considered ....can't wait to see her perform again ....truly an honour
Her speech is so poetic, just like her playing, absolutely passionate about eveyrthing, what an amazing woman.
It's definitely spirituality, Mitsuko. Music like Beethoven's piano concertos lift the heart and spirit to a higher place, just as the beauty of the natural world can do. Music and nature are elements of a spirituality that connects whatever you think of as "God" - spirit, love, divine mind - to the human aspiration for a transcendent experience. Having just listened to your youtube recital of Beethoven's Piano Concerto No. 3, I can testify to how profoundly affecting such music is, bringing goose bumps and tears of joy. It raises me to a higher level of being and inspires hope, faith, and love. Thank you.
my soul has as much joy when i hr uchida speak about music as i do when others play.so much is apparent in her ardor .Imagine her taking in vienna .what a city it must be for her.what a grand talent!
I saw her a few years ago play Beethoven op. 109, 110, and 111 all in one recital program at Carnegie Hall. The auditorium must have been silent for nearly a full minute after she finished 111...and then the longest ovation I've ever been a part of. I hope you can see her perform some day!
I was lucky to be at that recital as well. I don't remember the applause, but I do remember the long silence--more than a pause, almost an extension of the final of the 111 passage itself, which hovers near silence anyway. (MU's ethereal cerulean gown was almost an overstatement.)
I love how she prefers tolerance of interpretation.
I like her speaking with emotional impression.
She is my model, My inspiration...My life will be complete when someday I will watch one of her live performances
I just bought the CD of her playing the last three Beethoven sonatas, and she is extraordinary. I read that she's currently learning the Diabelli Variations -Yippee!!!
I experienced her live (schubert sonatas) in Luxemburg and was blown away. Good luck!
I'm not much of a classical music person except for a few pieces but I would pay for this woman to read to me. She has the best voice!
I love her! :) She's so amazing and humble. She is music.
She is a deep thinker speaking with such candor, straight from her heart. You can tell just how much she is enamored of the music she plays and playing it from her soul regardless what others think.
One of my favorite Mozart players EVER!
The Complete Mozart edition has her recordings and it's absolutly wonderfull!
I met her after an all Mozart recital in San Francisco about 20 years ago. She is an amazing artist!
What a gift she is!!!! So lovely!
I absolutely love her intelevt towards the composers and the way she plays the dynamics of the piece. ♥Mitsuko Uchida♥
Beethoven is a genius there's a difference between talented artist and a genius of music Beethoven is a genius of music his music is on a universal level of beauty and talented his music is still sounds fresh now than before.
She is one hell of an artist and human being.
Amazing artist!!! Her Concerto no 5 (Beethoven) breath taking!
omg this woman is a genius! haha "when I play Schubert, which the Viennese never allow you to do because it is vulgar!" haha i love how she said that XD

@manuelspcool She's playing in carnegie hall this Friday! If you're anywhere close to NY...
1:10 "Because that is vulgar" She made me crack up for a good 20 minutes with that impression XD
Thank you. Very inspiring
@Vlaanderson and the reason is that She has been living in Austria since 1960 or something like that I've listened her german and it's an Austrian german which I dunno is kinda different, her german is even better than her english.
I'm Japanese and somehow she reminds me of Shinzo Abe. Kind of a look-like and they both have something charismatic.
One to free...
...for 5...
1:19 hahaha I love this!
She reminds me of Helen Mirren characters. And the accent sounds like learnt from someone like Hitler, a German-speaking orator. Just charismatic!
@78hyp Oh thanks a lot, now I'm in Central Amrica the problem isn't the airplane ticket, is the visa =( it have to be someday in europe but thaks a lot for your coment =)
It is always a pleasure listening to her but let us not forget, Beethoven had a horrible childhood.
how come the title is "Beethoven piano concertos" but all she talked about is Vienna?
I had to chance to actually hear her, and see her in person, but I made a mistake and didnt go to the concert.
@unitednerdsbeproud We Share Dreams Partner = )
I think some people call it "atmosphere" or "context".

1:25, what is that piece that she’s humming?
