I’m guessing their microphone failed so they were relying on the audio from the camera itself, it’s much farther away hence the echo

The microphone quality of the ultra 2 is better than the studio audio 😂
The Ultra looks really chunky, whereas the stainless-steel regular AppleWatch looks classy. However, I’ve recently been wearing mine overnight, so the Ultra’s extra battery life would give me a bit more charging flexibility. Still, the regular AW does recharge very quickly anyway.
I got the series 9 in 45mm. I didn’t want wireless nor the stainless steel. That way I payed 429$ for it vs 799 for the ultra 2. I also got my watch to track my sleep , so I def liked your honest admission that the ultra 2 is too big for that at night. Clearly the ultra 2 wins in many ways, but for now it seems I chose right. The microphone quality of the Ultra 2 is way better than the microphone quality of the rest of the video - you should use that to record your audio in videos!
The series 9 is not very far behind, though - very minor difference.

Yeah great review but the sound isolating on the apple watches really highlighted how hollow your sound set up is! You can get some cheap lav mics which will 100% increase your audio quality.

Two AWes ago, I bought a stainless-steel Series 4, and managed to drop it on the bathroom floor from cabinet height, and the sapphire cracked big time! Apple’s offer to repair it was to replace it entirely at full price!
My impression: the sapphire is indeed quite resistant to *_scratching_* but *_not_* very resistant to *_shattering_* .

Flat display to me means you have the extra metal protrusion. Plus you can stick a tempered glass on it.
what happen to the audio qualioty?
I have a 7 and it’s 2 years plus. Not a scratch not a mark not a problem.
I upgraded from the series 7 aluminum 41mm to the Ultra 2. I have small wrists and was very concerned about the size. Im very happy with it with the trail band the ultra 2 is super comfortable. Battery life is amazing, I got almost 3 days with 3 workouts out of the first full charge. The series 7 barely lasted a day
Hey thanks for the comment. That’s exactly where I am - currently with the Series 7 and small wrists. Have you been using it for sleep tracking or an alarm on your wrist in the morning? That’s still a concern I have. I love using it as a Taptic alarm.
I went from stainless steel 41MM to the ultra 2 . I have extremely tiny wrists 5 inches and very bony. I’m struggling with how heavy it is and how uncomfortable it sometimes feels. I’ve tried so many bands, but nothing changes. It’s almost as if the sensor is uncomfortable, touching my wrist. Hopefully I can get used to it. If not, I will have to exchange for stainless steel 45 MM.

I just upgraded today from a series 6 40 inch. To the ultra 2 I have small writs too, however the Apple Store assistant helped me choose the correct band and it is very comfortable. I’ve seen people with the watch who have even smaller wrist then mine.

I just got the stainless steel 41 mm cellular version cause my wrists are extremely small.. I had no choice. I know I’m going to miss the battery life, the rest of the features for ultra 2 are great but I don’t really need them. I didn’t hear a difference with the micro when in noisy environments… I’m still happy with my choice even with the price 😅
I'm still using a Series 4 and I charge it once a day. Still going strong!

iphone in titanium: it'll get scratches super fast! its soft metal like aluminium!
ultra watch: its invincible!!
It’s the difference in the finish! The main ones scratching are the coloured models because they have PVD coating which scratches. This is the reason why Apple didn’t give us a black Ultra 2. The raw Titanium just didn’t scratch as easily and painting Titanium is incredibly hard to do and even harder to have it not scratch if not impossible.

You would think the buy back for the ultra 1 would be better than $360.. especially for what it cost and most ultra 1 watch battery health is superb
I think that’s a great buyback value actually! Especially considering it doesn’t have to be flawless at that price. A lot of people will qualify for that value compared to if you have a series 7 or 9 it’s probably scratched up a bit and won’t get the higher buyback value.
I really appreciate the way you demonstrated how the Alpine loop watch band works! It looks like it would make tracking heart rate easier, which is something that is important to me. I checked out the nomad watchbands, but they don't really seem to have anything for women.
I have the ultra 2 with trail band (blue black). Running it for 2 full days now without charging. Its a great watch! Im also tracking sleep with it.
How does it feel on your wrist at night?

@@jasonhuskie988 for me its perfect. I couldnt sleep with my old metal Watch. With this Watch and band I have no problem at all. For my wrist the Watch isnt bulky

Given how many things I bash my ultra into I’m glad it’s the one I got
Me and two other people in my family have went with the aluminum versions of the Apple Watch and we actually have yet to have any issues with its durability. Mind you, this is only really not an issue if you don't bang your watch into things a lot. I have owned two watches (series 5 and 8) both in aluminum and I really don't feel I need the extra durability as I have yet to actually damage it.
That’s a great point to make. I work at a wooden desk for 1/3 of my work, with no chance to scratch the watch. I also work at a glass and aluminum desk with chances to damage my watch AND the desk(if using the Ultra 2), and 1/3 is at an industrial machine that can and will scratch anything(except the Ultra 2).
So in my case, the Ultra 2 is the safer option because I am also an avid outdoorsman and my watches go through hell for 3 seasons. The downside is my watch can damage more things in my home as the titanium is harder than most surfaces.
For those who work a lot in kitchens with stone countertops, the Ultra 2 can and will scratch those counters if you aren’t careful. I have a friend who bakes a lot and she wears an 1980s wristband with a cutout made(she sewed a seam around the cutout for durability) to protect her marble counters.

As a construction worker, it’s a no brainer which one I‘ll get. Broke my regular Apple Watch 2 months after getting it, despite having a case.
Idk about that “brightness test”. My iPhone 14 pro max doesn’t go to full screen power until it’s in the sun. There is no setting you can turn on to make it full brightness. As others have noted, sound is def worse than most of your vids. Hope you got that figured out!

The only thing that stops me from buying Apple Watch is battery life. It would be nice to have series9 design with 4-5 days of battery life.
Get yourself one of those nightstand 2 or 3 in ones. I bought them as Christmas gifts 2 years ago and each one is still going strong. I got the case mate brand.

I wish Apple would have made a smaller version of the U2 as it is way too big and bulky for my small wrist. My friend and I tried a U2 on yesterday and decided on the S9. Any women out there get the U2? It’s even bigger and heavier than I thought. No way could I sleep with it on. 😢
I love my 45mm but it’s bulky. I’m a size 7 in the solo watch. I agree with you though, I love the ultra, but without trying it on I’m nervous to buy it and have it be too much.

Series 9 SS in 45mm for me :-) Sold the U2. Prefer the form factor over the Ultra. Ironically, my Series 9 SS is more comfortable to exercise in. I also don't mind scratches in the polishable silver SS finish compared to the hard edges of the U2 getting dings and scratches in the Ti body...
I’ve hit my Apple Watch 4 against walls many times. It cracked the wall. My watch was fine
I have a series 4 aluminum watch…wore it everyday since it was released and it still look brand new. lol I don’t know what your family is doing to theirs to beat them up so much.

Yes, the series 9 is more classier if you want to dress up. But I tell you the ultra watch two is fantastic. You know it is rugged it is durable and if you have an agency to bump your wrist and the things you know that watch is going to stand up. The microphone quality is bigger. This display is bigger. It’s an awesome watch. And I happen to have one I picked up on Friday ultra watch two with the white diving band. I love it at first I didn’t think I’d like the weight of the watch I thought it would be too heavy, but after you have it on your wrist, you barely notice it. and the sound quality is way better. Yeah, it cost a few hundred dollars more. But you get a whole lot more. And you know it’s gonna be around for at least 2 to 3 years. To me it was worth the money and it may not look the sexiest. It may not be the most stylish, but it’s gonna get the job done.

Thanks for the hands on review! Can’t tell much difference between the mics but there is a big difference in the speakers…. And I was surprised at how close the screen size appears between the 45 Series 9 vs the Ultra 2. I have a 44 series 6 and was waiting for a real SIP upgrade before taking the plunge to upgrade, either to a 45 series or Ultra. I had been leaning towards the Ultra because of the battery life, but the battery health on my Series 6 is still at 88%, even after 2 1/2 years…. Your review has made it even harder to decide for now…. Maybe I will even just wait one more year or wait to see what the Black Friday sales are like.

It doesn't sound as good as it normally does.
I was hyped to buy the dark blue ultra 2. As that didn’t materialize and the rough edges could damage my long business shirts, I flipped 180 on that.
Then considered the non aluminum watch 9 and would have been fine with paying same price as ultra.
However, battery life is the key spec for me. As the leaks and rumors on 3nm causing higher battery life didn’t happen, I might just stick to my watch 4. It’s old but Apple hasn’t brought out a real life benefit for me since (and no, ‘always on’, etc. did not impress me much…)

How to play songs on ultra watch ?
I got the Apple Watch Series 9 steel and silver. The ultra is just not very attractive on the wrist and if I buy a watch, I need it to at least look good. I also got the stainless steel because I needed the durability to last because I do not plan on replacing this watch anytime soon I will just be Replacing the battery as needed.
The stainless steel is not durable. I scratched it constantly. I banged it two days after buying it on my wall and had a huge dent. That’s why I chose the ultra after.

I was thinking of upgrading to ultra 2 from s6 but I sleep with my watch on so if it’s uncomfortable to sleep with I will stay with my s6 because the s9 isn’t worth upgrading for me my watch still working the screen does have scratches around it but you can’t see them unless the light hits it from a side view , thanks for the great view other videos i watched didn’t mention the sleeping experience on the ultra

I have a iwatch series 6 my battery 🪫 doesn’t last long in 4 hours is dead. Yesterday for VDay I purchased a iwatch ultra 2 I haven’t opened yet since it was for my husband he didn’t want it he told me to return it because he’s a construction worker and he doesn’t need a watch blah,blah… so I decided to keep it for my self but I have to go back to the Apple Store and change the band for a different color.
😂 I hope it doesn’t look weird on me since my wrist is to small 😅.

Nomad bands are too narrow for AWU
The Ultra 2 is so bulky that it is compromising sports activities and in the business life I cannot fit it under the sleeve of the business shirt. Ultra 3 needed at thickness of the series 9

My guess as to why the sound quality is not great in this vid is because they may have been recoding the audio incorrectly and didn’t realize it until after the fact and they more than likely have a schedule as to when to get videos out and were crunched for time and couldn’t redo the WHOLE entire video lmao so that’s probably why the Apple Watches mics sounded better than the video 💀
