Everyone pretty much know a computer with decent speakers and good acoustics is 90% of all gear you need. Then its… practicing. I would also state that if you run 5 km before producing it will help you a 100 times more then a hardware compressor. Even a great chair will
I worked for volkswagen the other day and in their offices they had this height-adjustable tables and this very very nice office chairs. I remember I set it up so it was half lying half sitting, the tbale exact the same height as my arm-rests. boaa. i could sit there forever. Everyone was getting up and this and that table up table down. I didn't care. This setup was just amazing to work on. (on a computer). I wish I would have such a setup at home. just another world of sitting and working.
actually this chair you promote looks promising. but everythings, at the end, everythings come to the height of the table and arm rest and ... basicly everything. the more you can adjust the better. just find the right set up
This done properly is INCREDIBLY difficult and most people have PhD and work in large venue treatment and sound staging. The ones I know don't do studios unless its a favor or a passion project. Would be interesting to hear how it is in Europe.
Great space layout. Why don't you mount your TC Clarity on a monitor type arm attached to the side of your desk. you can tuck it down and away when not in use.. just a thought.
It’s crazy how much stuff you’ve effectively fit into that studio space! What’s the dimensions/ sq footage of your room? And was it a “room within a room” build
I think you've inspired me to put together a video of my studio next week! I've been holding off until it's perfect/done, but it never is and I have things worth showing!
Nice room. There are plenty of good tape saturation plugins, but when you have a tape machine…it just hits different and feels different than the plugins.
Regarding the furmann… I am having the same problem: some voltage goes back in the circuit when the unit is powered down. This causes my breakers to jump. Pretty annoying. Glad you’ve found out too. :)
16:42 rammount is great solution for this. Normally ram mounts are used for vecicles, boats , planes, (motor)bike etc. But is great solution for this. Aangezien je nederlands bent kan je op emounting kijken je hebt 1000 duizend soorten armpjes , balhoofdjes, houdertjes zit vast wel iets wat past. Volgens mij is het ook vesa 75 daar heb je ook plaatje voor
About the 'small' room; what's the estimate size? Quite a high up ceiling, or is this just the video? Very workflow oriented, cool to see how this also reflects in your video workflow. Even more demanding, so more efficiency to win!
Clean your Generator (EcoFlow) sinewave with a quality inverter. AKA you go from DC out from your EcoFlow and change it to AC with your external invertor and have a clean electrical signal. I have done this a few times when I had dirty AC and I would convert to DC and then back into AC I then have a clean signal. Industry-wide on-location productions run on generators and they clean the electricity with invertors.
What are your thoughts on using Dante for a studio targeted at mixing and mastering such as your own? I really like Dante and the way it works in the studio i use but that studio is more focused on recording.
I tried over 20 chairs, all of them don't sit right. Can I only order though usa or australia? then import tax is about 40% on top of buying price... can I buy in Europe?
Thank yo for the idea with the screens, I have actually been pondering how to get rid of the problems with the screen going as far as thinking about using drawing tablets as screens so I could put them diagonally on my desk in a way that would make them as little of a problem as possible. I feel kind of stupid for not thinking off just putting treatment to the back of them XD
I'm going to have to investigate treatment for the back of my display, never considered that. The rebuilt console is awesome, reminds me of the millennium falcon, lots of character and power under the hood even if it's not a polished piece.
The treatment on the back of the monitor is a great detail. In my studio I've been considering between a 43" screen flush with the speakers or 27" on the desk. I'm thinking with treatment, the smaller one is actually a better solution acoustically.
Is the discount code for the C7 only vaild in US/AUS? Tried it here in Europe (Austria) and it says the code is invalid. would be a nice offer though if it worked.
@ no, just better than plugins… it’s been recognised as better than the Rupert Neve 542 which uses a tape head in its circuitry… now, those are £700 odd a channel so probably not worth it, over 16k for 24 channels… where the McDSP APB is about half that for 24 channels
@ plus the McDSP isn’t as power hungry as 24 500 series units say with the Rupert Neve 542’ would be in comparison to the McDSP… I asked the question but obviously the guy hasn’t got a answer
48:03 You are not a model? Fooled me there Haunz! 😁 Don't sell yourself short brother, you could sell skin cream your face is so blemish free. *About the Speakers* they look amazing! Love all the gear, but the Analog Tape? DUDE KNOWS THE MAGIC!
This is the first video of Jay that I don't agree on. Oh course the launch was a total fiasco. But I've been playing since yesterday without problems even in VR and LOVE it. To me it's already game of the year. I'm very surprised that Jay hardly can see any difference between this and 2020. I mean... The difference is massive. Brace for impact, I guess......
Are you allowed to say how much the speakers were? Acoustic cost not included but the amps and DSP included... if you're allowed to... at the time ages ago you were not allow
based of how he showed the speaker system, I bet it's around 30-50,000 USD since the speaker is calibrated and room is packed with it. the website does not show any pricing since they kinda calculate it based of the room that they will mount it
@ when I contacted them they told me around 10k just for the speakers but no idea if that included amplification, they were cryptic about it… the problem is, you need to know a ball park figure otherwise you can’t gauge if it’s viable
It’s literally the last video he did… but late to review in comparison to others… watch the video don’t just think you know what’s going on based on the title
you cant have a ton of drivers in speakers and say they are time aligned, dsp does not fix mechanical alignment, harmonic and non harmonic distortion as well as directivity. Putting expensive things together doesn't make something automatically "good".
I thought the video was exactly the right length, to the second actually. Sorry to hear your life is so busy. Maybe don't watch such videos going forward, or if you do, don't bore the rest of us with your irrelevant views on video length
Those jerky camera motions don't make anything more exciting. It's really annoying because we can't focus on whatever you are showing. If you are going to be a video guy now then think about getting the best shots. That is what good production is all about. Don't rush it.
great to hear youre still using the tape machine, love how passionate you are
You worked your butt off to get that great room. Great job!

What are your room dimensions prior to the treatment. And do you have a frequency curve you can show? I'm curious how flat it is.
So much history and personality to your console - I appreciate you and your passion!

A dream studio, I wonder how many miles of cabling!!! You'll need to upgrade the power grid next
Next level studio! Congrats and thanks for sharing :)
"This is just a module to fill things up." Nice to know you're as human as the rest of us.🙂 And a beautiful build so far!
Any idea of the monetary amount you've invested in your studio so far? It's nice to be able to set it up the way you want. Great video!

Interesting setup! Thanks for the tour

hey mooie mastering studio man! mooie hardware ook. keep it up!
so curious, waited for this video since years
do you pay rent for the space or do you own it?

Could 2 McDSP-APB-16's replace the tape machine do you think? Using their tape emulation
thats a... physical tape isnt it

Big Like from "ISRAEL" !!
A plate reverb that requires a whole room is a big deal. I hope you can get it working again.
Speaking about video over ethernet, Dante can now do video over IP. Bit expensive like the Audio over IP but could be something you could look in to?
enjoyed it , thank you
Yah..! Sorry I got really excited 😊😊😊
Badass studio!! The tour was great but you left out the microphones. 😁
Before I watch and like this video, let me ask you Dutch man, is Lobbes Pro in Netherlands a reliable company?
Yes, but they can be slow...
Yes I order all of my stuff over there. They are the greatest for pro audio stuff. But what he said is true, they can be slow sometimes.
