ABritishGamer1 That's true, but that's also because people still buy cards at huge prices and therefore Nvidia/AMD don't have any reason not to sell them at an expensive price-point, especially in some periods of time when the stocks are also limited.
To produce something like a titan costs something about 30$ in material if you're the manufacturer. And also, new cards are not released really quick, they can be but developers of it tend to wait, so their previous models sell more. When sales are dropping they pop up something new. Something with more Ram and etc. Just to attract people who have the money to constantly upgrade.
Marketing is a stupid thing.
And from a " consumer " side, I'm only thinking why would this card cost 3000$. They basically took two Titans and slapped them together which is 2000$. I think more people will choose AMD's product here, 295x2.
I bet that multi-gpu cards will be new trend this year, after few months we're probably going to see a card powered not by 2 but by 3 GPU's.

George Barry Which would only give you 6 GB VRAM, since in SLI it doesn't add up and higher power draw. Also 780 Ti's have limited compute power compared to the Titan Modells.

I wish they'd stop saying it has 12GB as that's deceiving. Yes there is physically 12GB of VRAM in the card but only 6GB are available to games because the data has to be mirrored across both Titan cores. Same goes for any dual-GPU card like the GTX 690 or if you put two Titans in SLI.

It's ok,better graphic card maybe come for 1-2 years,but we can play games on this graphic card next 15-20 years on ultra settings,so it is not necessary to make a better GPU than TITAN Z ,obviously this graphic card can run game with real life graphic :) It can run all the games that will be made in the future,certainly :D

Vidane You only get to use 12 gigs if you somehow break each GPU out of SLI and designate tasks to them separately. But then you get half the processing power, if it's even possible to do it on a multi-GPU card.
SLI just splits the workload. You can't run parallel processing without also running the memory in parallel.

When you have two full Titan's at full speed inside of a single PCB in a dual slot card, it's not as easy. The price is likely the premium but also due to new cooling.
Still it makes to sense, for the same price you get more performance but buying 3 older cards. So again if its just a software update they are out of their minds. And they even stated that it was also the best gaming GPU out there. Their words not mine.

To my knowledge 2 GPU's in SLI does not mean double the power on one monitor. so technically speaking it is not like having 2 titan blacks in SLI.

Totally, but having the announcement for the Z now doesn't bode too well for any info regarding the 800 desktop cards coming any time soon. The roadmap they showed at the conference though suggests that maxwells are coming near the end of the year. Those should offer a substancial increase in performance (and hopefully more VRAM) over previous generation while maintaining a more affordable price and full support for DX12.
So my 780 is shit now.

Its essentially the GTX 790. Two Titan GPUs on one board, just like the GTX 690 which was two 680 GPUs on one board. Should be a fast card but if the comparison holds true with the 690, the Titan Z should be outperformed by two Titans in SLI. Reason being is there is twice the heat and power consumption in the same package, therefore both GPUs have to be dialed back a little bit to stay in the design parameters.

Cheesepuff Pretty much this. TotalBiscuit brags about how he's got 2 Titans in his "gaming computer" and then whines in (to be fair sometimes quite unoptimized) games when his framerate suffers.
I can understand the choice behind getting a Titan for video rendering if you're a let's player or a video game critic, but if you're whining that much about the obvious performance issues with the Titan then get a GTX 780 (I'm sure there are better cards available now already but this is a fairly good example as the 780 has been out for a while now and was released almost directly after the Titan was put into service).
That doesn't even make sense... 2 Titan Blacks = 33% cheaper than this shit, and probably faster (no thermal/clock limitations)...
I hope the titan z won't look like that 0:28 or the GeForce GTX logo will be upside down! :O
