This car came to me with a few issues... would not start from the key, battery light on, ABS and ESP lights on, no power steering etc...
In the end, only one problem causing all this issues... follow me on this video to find out what was the problem and how to resolve it.

Have a 308 with exact same fault. No connection to power steering ecu. Did an Google search about it and lot of forums say replace pump. Watched you video, including jumping the wires. Power steering came back.

Excellent detailed video. My 2010 308 had a similar issue of multiple fault codes and intermittent starting. There would have been no way I could have diagnosed the problem myself so watching your process identified the issue was the same. I bought and fitted a second hand replacement battery management module part as you did. Car now starts and runs as it should with no warning lights. Many thanks for sharing 👍👍👍

thank you very much for help. my friend has citroen c4 picasso 2009 with automatic transmission and suddenly car died- with many errors( didnt shifted or showed gears, didnt worked parking brake etc.). I found mentioned error in ecu and on the main cable behind that problematic relay was 1,5V instead 12V. So according your advice we changed whole unit and car is working like charm. That was wonderful.

Hola desde Argentina- Tengo el mismo problema , el 3008 no arranca y me indica alarma en el tablero de " modo ahorro de energía activado" ademas me sale el letrero de STOP en el tablero y no se escucha que el motor de arranque gire. Mañana voy a probar limpiarlo al modulo y probar si tengo suerte. Me ayudaste mucho con este vídeo AMIGO!!!!

I have the same problem in a 2015 Peugeot 3008, I need the baterry management protection unit but its very difficult to find in a second hand here in Mexico. Peugeot its new at our car market.

Awesome vid , Ive suspected I had an earthing issue a lot of intermittent faults, currently, there is a gearbox fault (no comms on bus ) there's a power steering fault a brake fault both high and low fuel rail pressure, no coms with the accelerometer steering wheel misalignment a broken cv boot o and sometimes it allows me to have high beam sometimes it doesn't . I think this sort of thing might be the issue for some of it . Just replaced the solenoid pack which did absolutely nothing to the gearbox fault 186 KM so probably was about to poop it anyway first transmission oil change I suspect . Gearbox is very brutal at engauging at times other times ok . O and I have to wiggle the steering wheel to start it sometimes . The joys of being owned by a Peugeot

I have P 1007 and P1014 after scan, car crank receiving both fuel and spark, though spark plugs are not genuine, any idea?

Thanks for great explained video! How sure I can be that the problem is at the relay? How often problem is located to wiring? My car did that once and it dissapeared after battery change, now it's giving "power steering fault" info at the screen. I have 1.6 VTI 120 /2011

Had to add that in my case the problem might be oxidation at +bat contact. I think quick release clamp is not the best choice for car batteries.

This is exactly what happent to my peugeot 308,and same issue with all faults on. First all started with battery problem after I washed engine space. Hope I will solve my problem will write later.

Ok, changed everything, still dont have steering. I hope my pump is not dead.
Didnt solve the problem. Car wont crank, but when I connect + from battery to this unit's + I changed, then I hear click then I can start engine. Still have steering problem. Also battery is charging but it showed me that I have problem with charging the battery. After I turned off engine, and turned it on again battery lamp was off and everything was fine, but I still have steering problem. Any idea? 😊
Still nothing, tried with another steering pump, that is not a problem, tried also with another alternator. My bpga is reseting all the time. Problem started after I washed engine area. Also tried with another bsi, that is not a problem.
Check for water intrusion on plugs, etc...
Check grounds...

Just on a different subject, we have a 2011 Peugeot 308, 1.9 diesel that is destroying starters. It is destroying the brushes and commutator as if its staying engaged, as if the ignition switch was faulty. An issue on older cars. The ECU/BCI won't let this to happen though. Had you heard of any issues like this? Thanks for your time.
No... never even had that issue...
Just check that indeed the started is staying engaged...
I would say however, that such thing would be quite noticeable...

Hello! i have a problem on a citroen c8 2.2hdi 2006 the engine suddenly stopped working, we figured it was a fuel delivery problem so we changed the fuel pump but the car still doesnt starts, but when we supply power directly from the battery to the fuel pump the engine starts so we again figured it was the fuel pump relay but we cant find it anywhere, do you maybe know where the relay is located? thanks for the support and great videos!
Would have to check diagrams... and there is a few variants...
But check the main relay...
You can surely trace the wires back and see where they go... most likely to the under the bonnet bsm or fuse box...

Got up this morning got engine light only with no electric windows 308 1.6
Do you know the U0028 fault code on a Peugeot 3008? instrument panel switched off while driving. The car wont start if the instrument panel does not light up. After a day the instrument panel lights up after opening the drivers door allowing to start the car. I also see the battery voltage is 15v when the car is running using a voltmeter but cheap diagnostic tool shows 15.2v.
High voltage can cause all sort of gremlins...

I have same problem with my Citroen DS3 i changed the engine now the dash lights up but the engine doesn't do anything so hopefully this will be the problem
If you replaced the engine, double check everything... something not plugged in correctly, plugged wrong, etc... make sure you have not missed anything...
A scan to the car will might also help...

What I have spotted that there are two missing bolts near the fuses that are on top of the battery.
One myght be unused as there is no wire comming to it, but the other one (orange) must have it
just noticed same bolt on orange fuse missing on my battery fuse- hmm...
or rather, missing nut

I just watched your video (where you trace an ABS light on and replaced diods ). I would truly congratulate you for your bright mind.
If you can trace a fault this way and find out what is going wrong, it should be the same way with the BPGA (Battery Management Unit) on PSA vehicles (mine is C4 II B7 120 VTi).
When I asked you if the unit can be repaired you said it's tricky and better replaced.
Now I have the Citroën diagnosis of the issue and it says the "ss relay inside the unit is faulty".
Now I have the wiring official diagram. Is it possible to open the unit like you did with the ABS box and just replace the faulty relay like you did with the diods.

You will need to get some diagrams first then... so you can measure power and grounds, CAN lines etc... at the ecu...

thou shall check voltages first!,had a megane with a wheel speed sensor reading 800mph with the car stationary,was the loom where it runs under the battery rotted out!,looked ok with a voltmeter but no good at supplying a load!

Sometimes you need to configure multiple modules for certain mods...
Not sure about that for the seat belts, as I have never done it...
But check to see if there if any configurations on other modes seat belt related...

My 2012 Peugeot 308 diesel only 29000 miles warning lights came on including the power steering and the power steering failed while i was driving ... the fault was the alternator apparently if your battery drops below about 11 volts all hell breaks out the car will try to kill you and your passengers ... new alternator £500 fitter ... sound expensive but the alternator was about £400..
Yes... low voltages can cause all sort of problems and gremlins...

Hi. I have the same problem on a 2016 DS5 2.0 HDI 180. I have the BPGU on order but a global supply issue means no delivery date. Car has been starting eventually (1-20 minutes of hitting start button). But last week it stopped starting and goes into economy mode. I have 12.5v on battery and to fuses that don’t go through the BPGU. But only 0.6v on the outlet of the BPGU. Can I do what you did and bypass the BPGU with a wire from the positive to the BPGU outlet side? If I can do you think it might “reset” things back to the way it was or can it be driven like that. Thanks in advance. Jeremy

Hi, I have a 308, 2016 year. Some of its malfunction indicator lamps always (ABS, ESP, hill start assist, electronic handbrake etc.) turn on after raining. First I thought that a malfunction (like wetting some electronics) under bonnet is causing this problem but even during a newly started rain, its lamps turn on. I mean there is not a chance for bonnet to get wet. Can the problem be with sensors near tires or what could be the problem, can you help?
If you say that it is when is raining, surely water is getting somewhere...
Have you scanned the car?
I am pretty sure that all those faults are due to one single issue causing them all...

@@LMAutoRepairs The SSR and mechanical relay are very different. The input needs a series resistor as you are driving a diode that emits light. Without a series resistor you will blow the diode . A 1k resistor is a useful starting point. The output is also different - it needs to be in circuit
ie voltage in series with the output and of course the other end of the output needs connecting to ground. If you are testing out of circuit the output will also need a resistor to the supply. You can't just energise the input and measure the resistance of the output when the output is not connected to anything.Sometimes you can dig out the potting compound that surround the power transistors but it's pot luck (no pun intended) whether you will be able to read any transistornumbers. If there is enough space you could also replace the SSR with an off the shelf device.
My girlfriend has a 308 sw 1.6hdi 2009. Have a major issue starting in cold weather heater plugs and module was tested and are in good working order machinic says it might be in the wiring. Also no heater coil coming up on dash when you turn the ignition on. Car starts straight away with a bit of easy start, any ideas ? At withs end with the car now and no fault codes coming up could it be corroded wires or connectors or where to start ?
Measure and check the wiring from the module to the plugs...
Test/Measure the plugs as well...

Hi sorry to trouble you but I'm having a problem with my 207 1.4. My power steering light came on and the car went very heavy I had it looked at at the plugs was cleaned out and then it started working again about a week later it stopped working again then Iv notice my alternator was not pulling correct voltage so Iv had that replaced thinking it might of solved the problem he also cleaned the plug again said it was green then after that the car will still bring the fault up but sometimes the steering kicks in and work untill I stop the car turn off and on and it's stiff again it showing up the fault code f047 and wonder if there was any more help on what the problem can be thanks for your time

Not just at the plug...
Specially ground points...
Fuses etc...
Otherwise, it can be a bad steering module...

Hello my master :-), my Peugeot also sometimes does not start and only the clock hands jump. I also noticed that when I turn the key in the ignition twice before starting the engine, the engine has more power, it does not jerk when starting and driving, and the electric windows go up faster. Could this battery module relay be giving out too little current when it makes a poor connection?
Difficult to say without checking...
Check/test your battery, connections, etc...
Scan the car, check live data, see if there is anything that points into any direction...

Hello. I have the same errors on my peugeot 308 2.0hdi from 2012. power steering, abs, esp these errors seem to have been fixed since i got the battery manager changed. but I have other faults. when I switching to high beam, the radio goes out and restart,sometimes cruise control also goes out. I also experience speedometer and tachometer going out briefly. as well as the car can not start, no power to ignition key, no indicator lights in instruments. no central locking, no power in 12v socket. accident light does not work either. everything works again when I have had the battery pole removed briefly. 2 days ago the signal light right and left started to flashing fast, no fault on bulbs, discovered that there was ice and water in the trailer plug. I dried the plugs and given it contact cleaner, I not having errors since. can it really be the trailer plugin that is to blame for all these problems? vh Lars

@@LMAutoRepairs Many thanks for quick reply, so far i have checked the fuse box next to the battery and it's bone dry there and no visible corrosion. unfortunately i have no diagnostic tool to scan and dont want to take it to the garage and throw lots of money on as the car is pretty old, typical that Mot due end of the month too. Stopped engaging in to rear gear after that any gear at all.
Had it towed straight in to service Gearbox & Axle Centre here in Cwmbran!
Sit there for 3 weeks or so nobody called me.
Went to the garage to see the car and it has no battery to start the car and on the dashboard said Electrical Fault Have vehicle repaired.
No click from the engine... Nothing!
Just says press the break and put in Neutral gear.
When I asked the mechanic was told I have to find the actuator exactly the same one like on the car or if not I risk to burn the ECU.
The are saying they can't find the number on the actuator.
And if I cant bring it to them to take it from there.
Can you give me a advice, How the car had the Electrical issue in that garage I can't start it from the key anymore.
It went to this garage without electrical problem I had to take it with Electrical issue from there?
No one in Cardiff can find what's the fault everyone is giving up from it.

I have same car I'm getting engine overheat warnings and my coolant gauge goes up to the limit to put the stop light on.. Its just had a new timing belt and waterpump.. Getting high engine temp warning
Check live data... clear the codes...
Visual check that everything is correctly plugged in, and that nothing has been damaged...
Make sure the coolant circuit has been correctly bleeded, and that the coolant is circulating correctly...

Hi Luis do you do an auto scan on the autel or a Manuel one? on Peugeot and Citroen i cant get my autel to scan any of them i put the in the vin and it wont load any control units. when i do an auto scan it just give 17 AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA like that have you this issue its only on peugeot citroen . good vid buy the way.

@@LMAutoRepairs it is a 2009 207 1.4 hdi i can communicate with the lexia but not autel. the wipers are not working checked fuse on the box engine and no power either side of fuse so i took the fuse box off to see could i open it but full of gel and when i rebooted it the wipers worked for a while but stayed on even with ignition off . i had power at fuse then for ten minutes. when i put 12 v to the fuse the wipers will work but they stay on even with ignition off. i done some live data and checked wires the switch is commanding the wipers on on low speed and high but no power to fuse
Can you actuate the wipers with pp200?

Hi, I just found out my car has this problem : Peugeot 308. I need to get it to my mechanic to replace the SSR just like in this video. Its an Automatic and stuck in Park gear and cannot change without the engine on(and of course it wont start). Any tips how to get it into Neutral so I can get it towed to the mechanic?
Usually... automatic gearboxes have an emergency release system to put them in neutral for towing purposes...

Are you referring to the unused 80a fuse?

The fault can be somewhere else within the circuit... you need to diagnose it properly...

I understand... but the faults are just a guide... does not necessarily means that the problem is the same...
You can have the symptoms caused by different faults...
Ok thank you... and if I change the ecu kit from bsi bsm ecu and key sets will I still need a programming procedure.?
The fuse box under the bonnet, if you get the same part number, you should get away with no programming...
No need to replace everything on the car when you have only one module with problems...

Difficult to tell... some of those codes are probably a consequence of some other issues...
But, if you are having power issues, start with the basics...
Check fuses, connections, ground points... as corrosion can cause all sort of problems...
