Nice review! I'm loving my U50 and can vouch for the lume. I wear it to bed every night (after placing it under a lamp to "charge" before hand) and while it doesn't glow as bright right off the bat, it lasts through the whole night. There have been plenty of times that I've woken up an hour before it was time to get up and a quick glance through a half open eye lid at the U50 let me know. MUCH better than rolling over and lighting up my bright phone screen. Haha.
Thanks for watching! And I totally agree with you regarding the lume. It may not be the brightest, but it works when needed, and lasts longer than a lot of other brightly lumed watches.
I have to stop watching any video or looking at any picture of the U50 😞 I want one of these badly. And yet, the last thing I need is another diver. Great job on the video! Really nice videography! Keep up the good work, my friend 👊
Just got one of these and had to take the rubber strap off because the clasp is just too big and heavy. But on a red and black Hemsut silicone band from amazon for only $15.99, I am in love with this watch. Having about 40 or so in my rotation, this stayed on my wrist for more than a week. It wears great and is super easy to read even without glasses. Very happy with the purchase.
I completely agree I recently purchased the all black fully Tegimented version of this watch at Roldorf's. It feels solid and very well built in hand and it fits my 6.25 inch wrist like it was made for it.
Great buy! I wanted to ask how is the tegimented case holding up to scratches? I wanted to buy it as a tool watch, I work with car engine blocks which has HV rating of 500. Tegimented submarine alloy is supposed to be 1000-1200 Vickers. Just wondering from someone who has owned a full tegiment version if you encountered any scratches.
@@topticktimbit1692 About 18 months with this watch still looks new but I'm retired and just puttering on small projects so it probably doesn't banged around as much as I was working in garage or industrial shop.

It has a unique design language for people that value those type of characteristics. For those that don't there's the Swiss AD's on every hight street that will pander to your needs.
One of the best reviews of the U50 to date. Sinn is an addictive brand. I have a Sinn 103 sa BE and Sinn 856 S UTC - both are fantastic watches and recently I was reeeeeaaaallly tempted to add the U50 to ‘complete’ my Sinn collection. Only thing that stopped me was l got the call from my AD to pick up a new Submariner 124060. I’m finding it very hard to resist not adding this to the collection despite adding the best diver in the market with Submariner 😅

Another excellent review. I bought my EZM3F after seeing your review and could not be happier with it. I own the U1-Tegimented (with both bezels), the EZM3F, and my old reliable 757UTC. Can't justify the U50 but its size savings over the U1 are attractive. Thank you, again, for exceptional detail, objectivity, and your macro video!
Great review, photography and commentary. I thought long and hard about getting this watch but while I liked the overall design as a whole, I’m not a massive fan of the syringe hands. However I often find I’m drawn back to the U50. I haven’t looked at one for a while before seeing your review and it’s unsettled me again when I thought I’d reached a period of contentment with my watch collection!
Thanks Endo, and glad to see you around these parts again. I hope you've been well. I did not love the syringe hands when I bought it, and I would've definitely preferred the broadsword style hands from the EZM line. But after owning it and wearing it for a few weeks, I've grown to appreciate this entire design for how unique (and functional) it is.

Great review as always. The clasp has always been the pitfall of Sinn, however they have just released a new one for some models which I hope/expect will filter down to the U50 and similar. I have been harassing Sinn for many months to release the U50 with the blue dial of the blue U1, which I am sure they will do soon and hopefully with the new clasp. That said, I hit bored of waiting and bought a BB58 Blue last week with no regrets. I’ll happily have both if Sinn impress with my ideal. Keep up the excellent work sir! 😉👍

Good review and nice photography of the watch. I agree with your comments. I purchased the U50S a couple of months back. It is a comfortable watch and tough. I fully expected the bracelet and clasp to be the Achilles heel as I found this to be the case with my Sinn UX. They are ok but don’t compare favourably to some of my other watches - Rolex/ IWC/ Doxa. But then with the exception of the Doxa the Sinn is not at the same price point as the others mentioned. In the case of the UX I tried Sinn’s bracelet and silicone straps but have now settled on a 3rd party option. I fully expect to do the same with the U50. For comfortable bracelets/ clasps I feel IWC is hard to beat - albeit at a premium. The bracelet on the aquatimer and even more so the new pilot watches are beautifully engineered.
Thanks for watching! I agree with almost everything you said. Except the Doxa bracelets. Doxa uses a bog standard $50 microbrand clasp on their Sub 300T, and a pressed metal clasp similar to the U50 on their 300s. Both are not what I'd call improvements over the Sinn ones, although the ratcheting mechanism on the 300T's bracelet is useful (but massive and uncomfortable). I love the clasps on the IWC pilots, and they follow the Glashutte Original SeaQ's clasp style closely, which is fantastic. I hope when Sinn does upgrade these clasps soon, they maintain the sleek profile they have going on right now, in a manner similar to IWC etc.

I own two U1s. IMO, all this talk of Sinn clasps being sub-par is rubbish. Yes, there are some clasps that are prettier, and some that have buttons. Guess what? Who cares?? The Sinn clasps are fully functional, and that is exactly what you'd expect for a TOOL WATCH diver. The U50 looks like a great watch too, but I prefer the U1 since I have a larger wrist. Nice review!
I disagree that they are fully functional. I have watches under $1000 that have on-the-fly adjustment and are built to higher standards than this clasp. The clasp is objectively sub-par, but if it works for you that's great. I've been wearing it on strap for a few months now and love the watch immensely, but the clasp is a downer. Thanks for watching!
@@BeansAndBezels The fact that the Sinn clasp does not have an on-the-fly microadjustor has zero bearing on the quality of the clasp that it does use. It simply lacks a feature that you enjoy. There is nothing objective about it. It is purely subjective.
@@WRjockey it is a cheaply built pressed clasp typically found on watches 1/10th of it's price, with a janky divers extension, a fold-over lock that has no bearings for a rigid fit, and is simply flimsier than most clasps in it's price point. Using your argument, any clasp that performs the job of closing is objectively sufficient, but when you're talking about a $3250 watch that prides itself on engineering excellence (and deservedly so for the case), the clasp is certainly underwhelming and does not live up to the high engineering standards set by Sinn. As I said earlier, if it works for you that's great, but it it lacks the build quality and features that you'd find on watches in this price category.
Selling a watch doesn't make it any less of an impressive piece. I've sold plenty of watches that were amazing, but just not what I wanted at the time. Also I still have my U50 so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
I really enjoy sharing your journey through watches of the world and my take on your reviews usually lines up with yours, that is until now. I really can not get behind a watch that looks like something from Roblox. When mentioning some weaknesses like a printed dial on a $3000+ Swiss luxury tool watch or short comings with the case finishing and bracelet, you defended it as "purposeful engineering". No need to overthink things here. At some level this watch sings to you but not to me and with that we must disagree.
Thanks for watching, thanks for the kind words and for the criticism. I don't want to cop out, say its all subjective and dismiss your ideas. But I meant everything I said in this video - there are objectively better watches you can get for your money from Tudor or Omega, if you value things like applied indices and brand cache. But I've reached a point in my watch collecting journey where I'm less enamored by those things, and gravitate more towards a well built, well engineered tool watch when I'm looking at a diver. This may not be the objective for most people, since a watch really is more a piece of jewelry than a timekeeping instrument, but that's just the way it is for me right now and Sinn absolutely delivers in that regard.
This is a watch with tool aesthetics. A real tool would be quartz because accuracy should be first priority. If Citizen made an ecodrive Promaster Tough with the U50 dial and a Citizen price, I would jump on it!!
the perfect tool watch (again)....lmao AGAIN and again and again Every person to review these watches TRASH the bracelet. Sinn must be kinned to Seiko. Excelling in under delivering on the bracelets.
Thanks for watching! Since then, Sinn has upgraded the clasp so most of my criticism has been addressed. I never really had a problem with the links etc. Just the clasp lacking adjustment, which is now fixed!
I'm just saying, if I spent my time and energy to develop a UA-cam channel, I would invest in a microphone and make the product I deliver as good as I could make it. It's really quite easy to do something the right way and the wrong way in this situation.
@@fmartmart8099 this is about as good as I can make it currently. So you'll probably have to find a better Sinn U50 review elsewhere, sorry! But as long as I'm creating content that people get to consume for free, I'll be doing things at my own pace and how I see fit.

As I said earlier, if it works for you that's great, but it it lacks the build quality and features that you'd find on watches in this price category.
What does SDR stand for?
Stunder branderrauucher or translatred, black bezel
Great video. Thank you
Glad you liked it!
Good review, though I feel it lacks credibility since you sold it despite its great attributes..
Selling a watch doesn't make it any less of an impressive piece. I've sold plenty of watches that were amazing, but just not what I wanted at the time.
Also I still have my U50 so I'm not sure what you're talking about.
👍 good one
Thank you! Cheers!
I like it
Thanks for watching!
This is a watch with tool aesthetics.
A real tool would be quartz because accuracy should be first priority.
If Citizen made an ecodrive Promaster Tough with the U50 dial and a Citizen price, I would jump on it!!
In that case, a real tool would be just an apple watch since you have excellent accuracy as well as a bunch of other features!
@@BeansAndBezels It needs frequent recharging and does not have the durability.
the perfect tool watch (again)....lmao AGAIN and again and again Every person to review these watches TRASH the bracelet.
$3,000 for a tool watch? really?...nice review...but I'm willing to bet the majority of men watching this don't spend $3,000 on a tool watch.
Terrible audio. Invest in a microphone and take some pride in your craft
What craft? I make UA-cam videos. Thanks for the feedback though.
Says the user with zero contributions to the community. Hell yeah, love the energy Fmart. Take a break from the hard work, you've earned it🤘
I'm just saying, if I spent my time and energy to develop a UA-cam channel, I would invest in a microphone and make the product I deliver as good as I could make it. It's really quite easy to do something the right way and the wrong way in this situation.
@@fmartmart8099 hell yeah, that's what I'm talking about! Keep up that energy, you're going places!🤘
@@fmartmart8099 this is about as good as I can make it currently. So you'll probably have to find a better Sinn U50 review elsewhere, sorry! But as long as I'm creating content that people get to consume for free, I'll be doing things at my own pace and how I see fit.
As a German, this watch is so German, not the prettiest one, not fancy, but gets the job done 100% for years.
I agree. German instrument watch design is unique and practical. I love it.
