You can't perform Marriage on the Girl, from what I heard. I think it initially resulted in a Failed Marriage before being changed to the Girl outright refusing.
It is not confirmed that the factor in question is consent, considering A) Moonless Guards and B) Ghouls. I don't see any way Cave Wolfs and Guards would meet peacefully, or that peacefully. Another idea that is floating around is that both parties must be none-growing. This comes from the Priests in F&H2 who performed the Ritual with Undead Children.
There is another interpretation that sees marriage as something that actually is meant to embrace and elevate humanity, it grants a boon in strength as it you are greater than you are apart, and it's mildly disturbing form could be attributable to the fact that the act you take isn't perfect or true love of that it takes place within a place where the darkness of the God of the depths polluted it. Since marriages both require consent and cannot be done to the young nore can it be done post a prayer to silvian it shows that the focus is on two people embracing each other fully and accepting where the act done is not for silvian but for each other and she merely is observing it. The lack of individuality could also be seen as birthing something new and beautiful( we also don't know if th is is a Dragon ball style merge or a Steven universe of if it truly erases the full mentality of each individual) however, I do think that if this was done between two truly loving partner's that the marriage could be more beautiful compared to the acts done out of strategy and that if this occurred in real life there would be some people willing to do this because it means always being with one you love.
Yeah this is an interesting tidbit You take two devotees to Sylvian, who care and love for another deeply, and they partake in the Marriage act outside of the Dungeon of Fear and Hunger--possibly in a controlled ritual environment In this highly idealized scenario, I can imagine the resulting marriage being a very beautiful Androgynous creature that is both a fusion of both parties while still being its own being. Im thinking the fusions depicted in Dragonball or Steven Universe, but a bit more sexual and bizarre looking, but still a unified creature
While Enki is horribly bugged out, it’s notable that if you’re not playing as him in hard mode( or one of the more difficult modes, anyway) You can encounter him as an abominable marriage, likely formed of him and ghouls. The fight ends immediately due to it being glitched to hell, but I think, given he is the only character who seems to know the extent of what this act brings, sheds some light on him; that he will stop at nothing to achieve his goals of enlightenment, or of taking Le’garde’s glory for himself, depending on your interpretation.
When he's with the party he refuses it tho, saying he has nothing to gain from it. I doubt zombies make better candidates than the party members and undead in this universe still have souls and occasionally retain some individualality. My thing is like what happened to him while he was on his own to force him to change his mind? What could he have possibly learned that would make him willing to do that. Especially multiple times alienating himself from one of the gods he worships/did worship in the process.
I don't have the skill to play Fear and Hunger so videos like this are really interesting and I love getting to see such well thought out takes on lore I would otherwise be chomping at the bit to play through!
Dude if you rlly do enjoy the lore I'd say give it a shot. I don't play any dark souls games or grueling games rlly and i don't think funger is that "hard" necessarily. It's really just strategy so i wouldn't write it off just cause it's hard so long as u know what ur doing! And most fights have some counters and DOTs are op in practically every fight
@@ferociousmaliciousghost idk why yt gave me a notif for this but any excuse to talk about f&h I'll take. Id say there is maybe some movement that could be considered skilled as in avoiding enemies but yea the rest is just knowledge (tho problem solving is certainly a factor and skill if u don't rely on google or are in a unique situation)
I really liked this video because it was very illuminating to me of how my brother enjoys Fear and Hunger. I'm not a fan of the game myself, but my brother very much is, which was a little surprising to me considering the graphic sexual content present in the game along with his belief that most types of sex are immoral and pornography is as well. My assumption was the reason he was OK with sexual content in the context of Funger was because they were presented as grotesque and horrifying rather than permissible and pleasurable, so it's very fascinating to see just how right I was in that context. Of course a game where the outcome of casual sex is unimaginable mutilation would appeal to someone who believes premarital intercourse is immoral! Two men trying to bone and coming out of it a shambling heap of flesh is just a physical manifestation of the idea that gay sex is an indulgence that rots your soul, at least to somebody that already holds that belief-- so witnessing that in a game that depicts only the darkest sides of human interaction is basically the perfect confirmation bias.
It's terrifying to think the larger population of the world of fear and hunger is probably dying out because Sylvian believes to love one another is to become one being, both in body and mind, but that very concept distorts the idea of what love is, and like a petulent child, instead of understanding that her idea of love is wrong, she gets upset that people won't show their devotion to her through ritual marriage. No shit people aren't going to engage in the act of intercourse despite how much they love each other, i like my girlfriend but if i knew we'd fuse like we were in an episode of dragon ball, i think I'd reconsider the idea of physical intimacy😂.
Physical intimacy only creates a marriage if it’s done inside Sylvian’s sigil. Otherwise it’s just regular old sex, we see this as in a world where any act of physical intimacy fuses the two people together things like the bunny cultists (who are not fused together), and sex workers like Celeste would straight up not exist.
She is the immortal and timeless being who is the embodiment of the concept of love, and other related things. We are humans, mortal and stupid with the very narrow concept of what is "good" largely defined by what benefits us. How could we ever tell such a thing that we know love better than her?
Now that's some serious pleb shit right there. If you don't wish you could know her so deeply and intimitely that you know her thoughs as soon as she has them, then you definitely aren't ready for marriage, Sylvian or otherwise. Becoming one with your beloved shouldn't be an issue. The real deal breaker is the lack of "off switch" to it.
Its weird that enki would refuse to marry the character but if left alone he'll wind up married multiple reanimated corpses. I was thinking about this and i dont think is because the zombies are empty vessles, they arent. We see a soul enter the body when necromancy is used. So im wondering what happend to solo enki to make him willing to go so far.
I just found your channel and found your other videos on Moonscorched and the New godhood ! I'm hooked, the way you're explaining it all is fantastic. Soothing yet precise, for someone too scared to play the game themselves but curious nonetheless, it's perfect !
We generally imagine fertility/love goddesses as _kind?_ Let me introduce you to the concept of Aphrodite, the Greek goddess of lust, catfighting, and infidelity. I'm pretty sure Venus is the same way. Regardless, they're the first ones I think of when you mention love deities, and they're _disgusting._
Honestly I still don't understand fully why the abominable marriages are a thing beyond, of course, gameplay concerns. Considering the guards can partake in at least functional marriages with dogs and, apparently in Termina the centaur is likely a form of marriage (if not Stitches's doing), is really the inclussion of a third entity the offense to Sylvan? I am not nearly as informed in the lore as I could be but I always saw the matter as the marriage being abominable to humans because it's grotesque in appearance and not capable of performing "acts of love", but that to me wasn't direct indication that Sylvan was equally as disgusted or if the marriage's life being miserable was just a result of Sylvan having no reason to care if the new being, be it from a couple or a hundred individuals, was strong, healthy or beautiful as long as it lived.
What you ultimately need is to have high affinity with Sylvian! While D'arce is a follower of All-Mer, if she takes the steps to venerate Sylvian in the dungeons, than she therefore will earn her favor. Buckman and Ser Seymour presumably don't take these measures!
Maybe Buckman's and Seymor's marriage failed due to them trying to stop mid marriage due to them not truly knowing the consequences and as a result failed the process, Although the idea that their All-Mer worship does seem more likely
I do believe that Sylvian is more on the good side, and the reason why marriage in games is so deformed is that it doesn't really come from love and consent.
@@thefourthsaluki Thanks for the answer, it is deeply appreciated. I completely forgot about The Centaur and that unused Father Hugo sprite!
