Cheers Olan for the comprehensive reply! I have been using the sea to summit etherlite extreme but am always cold on it. Thermarest sent me the NXT which I am currently testing, but I keep wondering about the nemo. Will see how we go with the Thermarest. Cheers buddy.

You're welcome Dave and i hope it serves you well . I am from Manchester so i have my fair share of seeing grey when it's not pissin down with rain so Thermarest would help improve our moods if they used more vibrant colours especially on winter matts when you are stuck inside a tent for hours on end . The Black and Green of the Nemo looks a lot cooler and dare i say a bit more sophisticated IMO. I haven't used any of the STS matts so i have no idea how they perform but thanks for sharing your opinion and keep up the great work with your channel, i prefer to hear the views of people like you who get out there in all conditions and have built up a wealth of experience and knowledge over time rather than someone who spends most of their time behind a lap top watching and listening to everyone else's videos then trims their video reviews accordingly to impress the punters and the suppliers etc ATB

@@Olan... Thanks Mate. I still feel a total fraud compared to many, but appreciate your words.

Thanks for the video Olan, do you find the pad has any cold spots in the cold & wet? I'm torned but the spec looks attractive on paper. How's its quality with this, does it develop a leak easily (presumably you havent got one) as the old Tensor insulated? Thanks again

Hi. Thanks for the comment. No i dont get any cold spots at all and i like everything about it. I have had issues with the Thermarest Xtherm NXT and the Xlite NXT but this Tensor Extreme has been absolutely fine and the bonus is that it packs smaller than the 2 Thermarest mats.

Hi Olan, interesting perspective, but which feels warmer? You didn't really say!
BTW, when I am wild camping, despite conditions, is the only time I am not sad or miserable!

Thanks for the comment Dave, that made me laugh. I always look like a miserable git but inside i am mostly happy and definitely more so when i am out in the Hills and Mountains, its the grounding effect and being exposed to negative and positive ions and being far away from what is rapidly turning into a Zombie Utopia :) In short there is no notable difference , they are as warm as each other. I started using Thermarest when they first came out and i spent 15 years in the Army with the exact same matt and then as the years past i upgraded through the newer models and i owned the older version of the Xtherm without the slightest issue but because of these bastards who make You Tube videos i felt i needed to upgrade to the latest NXT version so i sold my old version on eBay and bought the new one from Face West and thats where things went pear shaped. The first one i bought off Face West didn't stay inflated overnight so i sent it back and i only inflated it and lay it on a bed but they told me it had been used which i wasn't happy about and they said "They will give me the benefit of the doubt" whichi took offence to. The next one they sent out was the same and they told me they had done a test in the office and that it was normal for matts to lose some pressure overnight which i argued against and sent it back. At altitude that can be the case but not at sea level. Anyway i lost faith and bought 2 different Exped models because Jim at Valley and Peak said they were very reliable which worked fine but i found the R7 a bit too bulky and the Tensor is tiny in comparison and equally as comfy . I also had 2 other Thermarest fails last year with the Uberlight which blown its baffles after only 1 camp and the Xlite reflective inner lining thing was displaced in various places inside the matt and i could see daylight through it and i didn't get that much use out of it before that started happening . Thermarrest/Cascade changed both with no quibbles what soever but i am a busy man and i dont want to be messing about and waiting for things to be replaced etc and i totally lost faith ninth Thermarest quality. You can say i have been unlucky because i have a mate who has the exact same models as i mentioned and he hasn't had a single issue with any of them but i can only go off my own experiences and i haven't exactly been using them as bouncy castes :)
