Saw you on your brother's channel. Your work is fascinating and you are very talented to say the least! I'm glad your brother talked you into doing this channel! You will go far, that's for sure! ❤️
I'm a big Hoof GP fan and I remember well the times he mentioned you and your channel. Been watching your videos since May of 2024, just started Graeme's in March! Also follow Bob's channel, I got you all!! Y'all have different talents and music but, you excel in your chosen profession! Waiting for new from you, please! ❤
Love your sculptures in the background. I personally like the color of slate. I feel its timeless. I hope that you are planning to show us around your studio. I would love to see all your sculptures;)
Thank you! Will show you more of ny work soon. Most of what I have in the workshop is visible in the footage. Usually my work is made to order (although I do have a few pieces for sale), so as soon as it's made its delivered and installed. I always need to keep a few pieces for an exhibition I do every year.

I found you because of Graeme, I've watched him trim hooves for awhile. He's hard working, and very funny. Now I'm amazed with your work, you make amazing sculptures. You made splitting slate, look easy.
I saw you on your brothers channel. I subscribed to your brothers channel because I love cows and have worked with them all my life, both on my best friends ranch and on a professional level. Funny thing is, I also carve stone as a hobby (mostly soapstone that I have access to here locally in the hills of central California), so imagine my surprise when your brother did the video with you on, saying you were a sculptor....I look forward to watching you and learning from you

Hi James! Absolutely fascinating geology lesson!! We’re hunkering down for our first winter (FINALLY) storm here in South Central Iowa, USA. It was about 10 C here yesterday so today we started out with rain, then sleet aka wintry mix 😑 and now it’s blowing snow and drifting! Gotta love living in the Midwest!! It was a slow drive home from work this evening...35 mph tops. I enjoyed your video snuggled up under an afghan! I so want to visit Wales some day (maiden name was Thomas, so I’m a Welsh for sure!) and may just have to pop over to Scotland and take in the staggering beauty!

Lovely work. It’s incredible to see you work so delicately with this medium. I was not aware that there are different colors of slate. You are working and creating masterpieces with sheets of priceless material formed so long ago. Mind blowing!
Hi Garry, Thank you. The slate in the video can only be split to about 5 or 6mm at the thinnest. Welsh slate can be split very thin. To about 2mm or so.
James, please release a vlog working with glass, if at all possible. The Yin and Yang was totally amazing! 🙏🏻👍🏻🌻🤗💕💕 The huge vase, the sphere! Wow I didn’t know you worked with glass and bronze!
Do you find many fossils in your slate? When I was a child in Pennsylvania (USA), we used to look for fossils in the natural slate grounds around our area! Tons of fun!
Hi Donna. Not in the slate I work with. I think sometimes they're lost as the slate is formed due to the heat. I've found fossilised whale bones half way up a mountain before and ferns and fossilised trees in carboniferous sandstone but never anything in the slate I use.
Went canoeing to belnahua years ago and the beach was slate with lots of square Iron pyrites crystals. Could not take enough of it home ( did not want to sink ) to give out to family and friends.
You seem to make it look easy 😊👊... I did some tile work with slate, but split when I didn’t always want it to 😖🤭😂😂 Really enjoy learning more about it ... funny when you speed up but fantastic too ! Happy New Year wishing You much success with your channel 🤗

The most interesting medium to use. Love your work keep up the videos very informative. I do have a question how would your work stand up to -25 F and 100 F summer temps would expansion and contraction of material be affected?

does anybody know how one could take two or three Roofing slates and glue them one on top of another to create steppingstones for a garden so that when you stepped on the slate it wouldn't just crumble underneath your foot. You need to use felt in between each piece of slate? What kind of glue should you use?
