When she was 20 years old, she went to Canada with a music big friend, and there she started her musical career to the world. She studied at the Brussels Conservatory during 10 years where she was formed in bel canto, piano and dance. But she preferred sing pop music. She's living in Quebec, with her husband and daughter, and her father I think. Now she's 51 years old, but you have to hear her singing yet, amazing, really amazing. She was elected the director of Academy of Stars this year, and she's working with young talents and teaching them with her knowledge but with her heart. Thsi song was written by iconic French singer Serge Lama (who made a name for himself by also creating a musical about the Emperor Napoléon Bonaparte), and composed by Alice Dona, his former partner in life. It quickly became a hit and his most famous song, so much so that he can not perform without singing it at everyone of his gigs. Lara Fabian covered it the way we hear it here, and that probably was her best performance ever. She is a highly skilled singer, but her choice got her to work with poorly inspired producers and tour managers. This got her a reputation of a "superficial" singer, when all she ever wanted was to live her passion for singing. This moment shows how invested and focused she is, perhaps too deeply to have a good knowledge of what happens around her (my 2 cents analysis on what she has been through). Some day tough, she may well kick back and surprise everyone with her true and pure talent. Just for the records (even if it must have been said already) this song was originally written, composed and performed by another artist named Serge Lama, and many other artists, including Mme Fabian, covered it. For the song itself, It's all about your feelings when you're forsaken by someone you love and need. The singers just say how non important, useless and unvalued they feel at that moment. Pretty hard song to sing, technically and emotionally.

In France, she has had rough years because lots of people (journalists, comedians, other singers...) thought she « screamed » too much (true story). It was a very violent period for her. First time I see one of your video. Just for the records (even if it must have been said already) this song was originally written, composed and performed by another artist named Serge Lama, and many other artists, including Mme Fabian, covered it. For the song itself, It's all about your feelings when you're forsaken by someone you love and need. The singers just say how non important, useless and unvalued they feel at that moment. Pretty hard song to sing, technically and emotionally.

You are wrong. It is not her song. The song was written by Serge Lama, a French singer and songwritter, and was released in 1973. It is now a classic of French music and the version of singer Dalida is well known. It is a very emotional song. Obviously, Lara Fabian did a great job here.

Soooo. To answer your question, Lara Fabian is now 50 - you couldn't tell... - and is married to an Italian magician, who I believe is around 36. Don't know who's the lucky one ;-) And she is an astounding singer... This version of Je suis malade just sends the ball out of the stadium. Even its composer Serge Lama, who is himself powerful singer, and a mega star in France (probably bigger than Lara), does not approach this level of perfection.

Lara was born in Belgium in 1970. She has so many beautiful songs like « Parce que tu pars », « L'oubli » (about her mom's illness), « Pas sans toi », « Je t'appartiens », « Aime », « J'y crois encore », « Broken Vow » and so on. Not only she can sing but she also writes her lyrics and she is a great musician (she plays the piano). In France, she has had rough years because lots of people (journalists, comedians, other singers...) thought she « screamed » too much (true story). It was a very violent period for her. She is still an easy target for some journalists but nothing compared with what it used to be. I started listening to her when I was 10 (so 24 years ago), I've seen her on stage several times, she is impressive and so talented. And you know what ? The louder she sings, the happier I am! :D
