I wear the same thing every day. I've automated my life and it's AMAZING. It allows more time and energy for creativity and other things. It all has to do with self-discipline, and I'm going to share a new definition for self-control that totally changed my life.

You're normal. People have been brainwashed by companies into thinking you have to buy tons of clothes to be successful, or that you need to eat breakfast in the morning.
A couple of years ago I noticed Elizabeth Warren always wears black pants and a black top with a colorful jacket. I really like the idea!
This video popped up because I've been watching videos on the Wool & 100-day challenge. I've ordered a dress that I will wear for 100 days in a row and I'm excited to be creative in how I make it look different everyday. I love that you've been doing it for over 10 years! Such inspiration to continue to downsize my closet!

This is great, thank you Josie. I've always struggled with clothes, my wardrobe isn't great, I hate choosing what to wear. Yet I try to dress who I think everyone expects me to dress, but it doesn't last. Your idea is brilliant, I need a formula and I need to remove the stress of deciding what to wear from my daily routine. I'm creative and much like you I'd rather spend my efforts in my creative work rather than trying to improve my wardrobe and failing every time. Tomorrow I'm working out my formula, I have a feeling this idea will stick.

Omigosh! 6:47 in the video is what I'm doing right now. Staying up too late, eating chips, and watching UA-cam videos. Couldn't help but giggle when you said that. The only difference is that the videos aren't dumb. They are great ... They are yours. :)))
I have many pairs of the same black dress pants that I wear every single day because I got tired of trying to decide. I rotate my tops, which is still a bit stressful but taking the pants decision out of the equation was a huge time saver for me! I need to find more things in my life to simplify like this!
Oh yes and when find a thing that I love I sometimes buy a few!
Einsteins slippers!!!😮❤ I think Its just character outfit like in a theatre show. When people have a signature look it makes life easier ❤
I've heard of this concept before and love it! I also love clothes! I feel like a good middle ground is possibly decluttering/or a 10 item capsule wardrobe which is really popular right now. :) I'm not doing that at the moment but I love the idea. I love you and your videos Josie, you are one of my favorites to watch and learn from! You carry so much wisdom and insight and your playful, funny and kind personality just makes you amazing. Honestly I don't think it's clothes per se--some people might have a lot of clothing options but fewer social media accounts, for instance.... lots of things can get the automation treatment!

Yep! Luckily I can wear scrubs every day so I wear the same colour pants and just change up the top for variety. Easy, no brainer stuff that I can manage when I'm half asleep at 6am. Uniforms are cool!

Another phrase for this conundrum is "decision fatigue".
My uniform for 15+ years:
* Cotton or ponte knit pants in navy, gray, or black. They're soft and comfortable. In the summer I wear the same design in Capri length.
Since the pants are only three colors, my socks and shoes are easy to match.
* Thick cozy socks, usually gray, for winter. Hanes white socks for summer
* Closed heel clogs or Sketchers slip on sneakers in navy or black
* Colorful flowered or solid colored knit shirts in cool shades of navy, pink, aqua, green, and lavender
* Solid color cotton cardigans with white shirt/turtleneck
* Bright colored scarves in winter with cardigans
I have one online store where I get the pants/capris, long/short sleeve tops, and cardigans. I add new designs & colors in spring & fall during the 50% off sale.
I am content and comfortable every day.

I have pretty much my standard uniform (sweats, t-shirts) for every day - a definite bonus of retirement 😁
I wear the same thing most days- not near as fancy as you though!! 😉🤣😂 I wear a tie dye tee shirt🌈🌈🌈🌈(different ones) and same style jeans. White socks from Woman within, lol. If they didn't sell the same ones I'd be lost!! And if in the house, sock slippers. When I leave the house, white tennis shoes ~6 years old, lol. My worst issue is I'm super picky about my purse! Shopping for purses is a really big problem! I love my current one because it is rainbow colored!! 🌈🌈 But two big zippered pouches is a must!! 😂🤣 If I had to change that, it affects my organization in my purse!! I can't find anything! 🤣🤣 I love the self discipline talk!! 🥰🥰

It’s very true that extremely creative people can’t be bothered with mundane decisions. Like getting dressed. Lots of famous business men wear the same thing every day to keep their brain simple and more space for creating. Mark Zuckerberg and Apple guy (who died) wear the same stuff everyday. It’s not uncommon. I like to do the same. Black leggings. Same top different color and a black cardigan sweater if it’s cold and the same shoes. LOL my hubby and kids call it my cartoon outfit.

Personally I love a colorful but simplified wardrobe. I was always a jeans & T-shirt person in high school & college, and have always loved dressed though I went through a decade after hitting puberty where I only wore them to church.
Now I have black/gray/brown bottoms (either work pants or leggings for dresses), a handful of colorful shirts, a handful of dresses, and a handful of cardigans/jackets. I won't ever have a "true" capsule wardrobe but I adhere to the mix & match concept that makes life super easy.
Me too T-shirt crisis....they aren't making pure cotton things anymore. Its hard to find pure cotton for less then tons and tons of money... and then many companies lie and say socks and T shirts are 100% cotton and they r lying
Yes, I agree I just got some 100 Percent cotton logo t shirts on nike.com they are so hard to find 🤦
Hilly and Jessica.....call All Seasons Sportswear in Wichita, KS (or any tshirt printing company in your area). They can mail you 100% cotton tees with or without printing on them. Lots of colors, brands, styles. They probably all have websites with emails, too. By the way, I like Bella Canvas and Next Level brand tees (soft and light weight). Hope this helps!
You are hilarious. I was sent this video from a friend who also an artist, and not related to you, but is related to someone who IS related to you through marriage. LOL, I sound mad. Anyhow, brilliant thinking, and I'm totally reading this book as soon as I can get it.

This made me laugh so hard and also helped me understand my husband a little more.
I think men have it easier because there are fewer men's clothes to chose from, and they get judged less for being basic!
@@JosieLewisArt maybe so but we've been married for almost 28 yrs. He's always eaten the same breakfast and if he needs new polos he finds ones he likes and buys 7. Same socks, same underwear. My at home clothes are yoga pants or leggings, and oversized mens tees from Target so I get it.

You are amazing! I am an artist and from Minnesota as well. I feel like I wear the same thing everyday as I volunteer work at a thrift store in my town. Because I go through the donated clothes and organize the store which I am good at. But I draw and paint when I'm not volunteering. I am building up my inventory to sell and display at my first craft show in my town in April. And I would love to reach out and connect with you!!

I love black, too, though, so I’m not hating on your current colors. 😁 I’m fascinated by Dressing Your Truth, and I’m guessing you’re a 1 or a 4...both look great in some version of a bright color.

I have beem wearing balck cardigan (abaya) since school. All my college and university days I didn't take off my abaya unless it's a special event..i hate getting up in the morning worrying about what to wear ugh. And now that i have joined corporate sector i stopped wearing abaya smd.it annoys me so much. So i am back to wearing abaya now!!
