I’m truly amazed with the way you approach teaching Filipinos the English language. You have a way of catching my interest and keeping it until you’re done. When I tell you, I really don’t like watching 20+ minute long videos but it’s so easy for me to watch your videos until the end. I’m learning from you so much, and I’m not even a call center agent. 😂 Thank you so much, ate! 🙌

We immigrated to Canada in 2011 and even then I would get comments on how my English doesn’t have a distinguishable pinoy accent. Most people thought I was born here. Even fellow pinoys would give me compliments on how easily I have adapted. Ito mga tricks ko and I have been doing this since elementary:
    1. Watch English shows.
    2. Read and read a lot.
    3. Practice pronouncing words. Wag mahiya. Marami sa atin natatakot matawag na maarte.
    4. Maraming aspects ang speaking and hindi lang pronunciation of words. Sometimes we tend to focus a lot on our pronunciation to the point na nakakalimutan na natin ang real goal ng speaking which is to get our point across. Mas mahalaga pa rin kapag may sustansya ang sinasabi kaysa aasa lang sa ganda ng pagkakasabi.

Your videos are awesome. I worked in a call center for years in the US, and for the final three years we were blended with another team based out of the Philippines. My manager from this team was Philippines based as well, and she and I worked with the rest of the team on pronunciation when dealing with American customers. I wish I had known about this channel then, because this would have been such an amazing resource for all of us. Keep up the good work

Wow, I don't know how or why I came across your video, but I'm impressed. You were thorough and effective in your teaching methods. More importantly, you gave your audience great advice - I paraphrase, "don't get so hung up on the rules... Instead, learn to listen... to become fluent!" ... I totally agree. I knew some basic Spanish, but I didn't become more fluid in my speech until after I watched telenovelas! 😊 I learned to listen to the words and pronunciations... Then I applied what I heard/learned. Bravo!!! 👏👏👏 More power to you for helping other Filipinos "speak" in a way that Americans can relate to. 💖

One more thing that makes English complicated is reading/hearing new words that you don't know how to pronounce and also, the confusion around using prepositions and articles The vs. A. Hope you include them in your videos. You're so amazing.

The advantage of knowing how to read phonetic sounds, is it's so much easy for you to pronounce the words that you have not yet encountered. The shwa is the important sound in English which is represented by an upside down e in the Phonetic Alphabet. Just like reading musical notes that you could easily figure out its basic melody.

I like the way you talk. Some teachers on YT exaggerate their pronunciation to make it sound like American. It has to come out natural and you are doing it just right. You still have a hint of Filipino accent but to me, it's perfect. I wish I can talk like you. If I may also add, some call center agents pronounce T as CH to have that American accent. Ex: Two = CHU which is very irritating.
About the word PESO, it comes from Spanish so I guess it should be pronounced the way Spanish do which is the one we have gotten used to. The one you Googled is the English form where the English pronunciation of vowels is used. In my opinion, "pehso" or "peyso" should be correct.

    • @in0ri62

Agree with you on PESO. Mexican Peh-so, not the American pey-sow, should be the standard.
Also, aside from the CHU sound (as in YouCHube), I've heard TS (as in ChrisTS)

This is great content. I'd like to add that when a word that starts with a T is preceded by a word that ends with a vowel sound, it's more common to pronounce the t as a flap t (like in the word water). For instance, in "See you tomorrow" the t usually sounds like a d: See yuh duhmorrow 😀

    • @philipm5043
      @philipm5043 3 роки тому

Ooops my mistake. That rule only applies to the words to, today, and tomorrow. And it doesnt matter whether the word is preceded by a vowel or consonant sound.

At 4:37, I learned during high school that most 2-syllable words, when used as verbs and not as nouns, are stressed on their second syllable. Such is with the words:
    Object - item VS. objEct - disapprove/disagree
prEsent - existing/occurring at the said time VS. presEnt - give
Insult - disrespectful action VS. insUlt - speak/treat with disrespect
    rEcord - documentation/file VS. recOrd - to note/write
    prOject - assignment/task VS. projEct - forecast/estimate
Such is with the case with prefer, although the word, in the sentence structure, is solely used as a verb, never as a noun.

With the article "the", the consideration should be on the word's phonological transcription, not on its alphabetical spelling. 😁 Gonna need more contents like this one ❣️

English language is a very tricky to learn it's very complicated too, but I never give up to learn this one, I would like to consider this as my main skills in life. And hopefully by the help of one of this video, I can return in BPO company, but as an international account call center agent.

I am a career shifter. BPO Industry is indeed a great challenge for me, I just passed several interviews but I always reschedule my second phases of BPO Recruitment, Because I am making necessary preparations through watching these videos from Mam Kwestyon, Because I wanna give my best shot in BPO Recruitment Assessment Process and I realized that watching these videos from her made me realize my strengths and weaknesses to this industry, I can write good English but I have problems in speaking with problems in pronounciation, confidence, fluency verbally that is why right now. I keep watching videos of her. Wish me luck mam, I have my Assessment Schedule next week. Please correct me mam, Give me some important things to remember for just a brief message specially that I can have my assessment next week and I highly appreciating it. Thanks you.

"of" has two kinds of pronounciation. The one you just showed is the unstressed sound and also the stressed sound. There are others and it depends on the speed we pronounce it. It's a hard topic that i'm unable to account for since if i speak fast a native won't understand me so i try to speak clearly and less fast.

You know what, what you're doing is more effective (most specifically for us Filipinos) that is because you are referencing our accent and effectively pointing out what's proper and what's not. What I am saying is " this is NOT BORING" to watch as oppose to General Tutorials.
