• Contains SPOILERS for Seasons 3-5 of Breaking Bad & Seasons 1-6 of Better Call Saul •
Mike has always been one of my favorite characters from the Breaking Bad universe. I remember being completely heartbroken after he died when that episode aired of Breaking Bad. The way they explored Mike's backstory in Better Call Saul just made my love for his character grow even stronger. It actually makes his death even more heartbreaking. Even though he's a great, badass character, the sweet moments that he has with his granddaughter just warm my heart. Jonathan Banks is such a tremendous actor, I really can't see anyone else delivering a more greater performance for Mike's character than him.
I'm so sad this show/universe is now wrapped up. There's been a huge hole in my heart since the ending, and these videos will be the thing to get me through it for the next few months, haha.
I figured I would make a Mike video first, as my other ones I'm working on (videos for Kim, Jimmy, etc. As well as a few overall BCS tributes) would take me much longer to complete as there's a lot of scenes to get through for them. They'll be on the way soon! I hope you guys enjoy this Mike video, I had so much fun working on it, and had a good cry making it haha.

"I broke my boy.." Goodness, that line got me..
It perfectly showcases Mike the same way it does John Marston a selfless man who isn't exactly a hero or a good guy and goes to every length possible to provide for/save his family and dies at the end because of it by the guy he hated the most and had to work with.
Mike is a terrible person. You measure him in not how good he is. But in what evil he isn't - Out of all the terrible things he could have done, what did he not do.
@@rear9259That my be the dumbest comment I’ve ever read
@@rear9259 While the other guy's comment is naive in it's portrayal of both Marston and Mike, your own method for measuring a 'good person' isn't valid either.
Both Marston and Mike started out as bad people. It's how they dealt with that, how they grew as people and CHOSE to do better in what ways they could within the situations they were stuck in, that make them better people.
Lawful does not equate to good. What matters is both the intention behind the act, and whether the person committing the act is honest about what it is. Both Marston and Mike are killers. Hired guns. But they make their own decisions in the moment, aiming for better outcomes, instead of just pulling the trigger and walking away. They take responsibility, where a bad person would simply refuse it.
I think Mike and John are different characters.
Yep, they both had a criminal story, but overall they're different characters.
Mike was the man that started as a good person, a cop, but due to his hardships went into the criminal business. He was good at heart and a very smart guy, but he died simply because he made a crime his own profession. He never was proud of his "job", but he neither was very reflective on it as well. In my opinion by his time in BrBa he made peace with his crime life. In my opinion Mike's story is how bad things can led a good man down to a terrible path.
John, on the other hand, started as a criminal. He was raised by a gang leader, and although he was like a father to him, he left him to die when John needed him the most. This and lots of gang problems and being hunted down by the government made them split up. After that John tried to turn good, built his ranch, a house, tried to be a father and etc. But then he is found by the government, they use him to kill his ex-gang members to make "amends" and then kill him. John's story is about paying for the bad things you've done, about how past can catch up to a human being. This is a major factorin RDR series. "People don't forget, nothing is forgiven", just as John said. Or "You don't get to live a bad life and expect good think to happen to you" by Arthur.
I like how you just contradicted yourself and was idiotic enough to not realize
Bro thinks he's John Marston
Both are legends
For real
Probably the character I loved the most in both shows, just has so much backstory and secrets... A loyal man, always caring for his close ones and always fighting, until the end. You showed all of that beautifully in this great edit, loved it Heather! :)
While this song perfectly encapsulates John Marston, it does it so well with Mike’s life too. Loved the editing at the 2 minute mark with Mike readying the gun in sync with the music. You never disappoint, Heather!
Thank you very much!! I'm really glad you liked that part :) It was really satisfying getting everything to sync up, haha.
I always think of John Marston when I here this song
the song also describes Jack Marston
I think it's primarily Jack Marston's song but fits it John Marston's journey in the game as well.
@@The_Governor81 Probably, because it plays at the end of the game where he's the protagonist.
Mike is one of the most well written characters on BB and BCS
10000000000%
Poignant tribute to Mike. Mike was a man's man. He lived with regrets and made hard choices for the sake of his family. No one but Jonathan Banks could ever portray him. I am thankful to Vince Gilligan for giving us more of Mike after Breaking Bad.
I look forward to your future BCS videos.
Thank you! I completely agree with you. There were scenes of his in BCS that made me tear up watching, knowing how his story ends. It’s so heartbreaking. I really loved his last scene in the BCS series finale, too.
A very fitting tribute for a great character.
The most chilled badass character ever written.
Deadman's Gun lends itself amazingly to any tribute, but I thought it was particularly well incorporated here. This was greatly put together.
Thank you so much! I'm glad you enjoyed it.
@@xHeather360x Thanos can understand doing bad things for the ones you love...I guess Mike being his favorite character makes sense.
I love reading your comments on literally every red dead related video, you always have the best commentary/take/interpretation
BRO WHY AM I SEEING YOU COMMENT ON EVERYTHING!???
In this Gilliverse…Mike was probably my favourite character if I had to choose just one. Honestly Jonathan Banks God bless you, you made Mike one of the coolest and most complex characters in film/tv.
Dead man's gun is perfect to represent Mike. Knowing Mike, he fought hard even if he knew he was doing bad things.
I know this song is based solely on the lore from Red Dead Redemption, I just think the lyrics match Mike's character pretty well. Mike had his son die doing something he could never do himself, and immediately after wants to get revenge. He was a pretty bold dude who didn't care about near death experiences, I'm sure even by the time he did die he didn't even really care to think about it.
The song to me more represents fighting back after suffering long enough and how the tragedy made you stronger so that nothing will stop you from facing the "storms you've been chasing" and hence why the song fits both John and Jack. Even though, I'd lean more towards the latter because the title "deadman's gun" and how it plays right after Jack's first and only mission.
@@themadtitan7603 I like how you put it. I guess how I view it as is the simple fact you're a dead man once you make certain choices. The song does represent those characters in where they came from perfectly because it was to give closure to the story of Red Dead Redemption properly, and I do agree with that being true without a doubt. I just think the song itself could represent anyone though in a similar situation. People make certain choices based on their own morality, and once you make those choices it's just like Mike said, "We all make our own choices. And those choices, they put us on a road. Sometimes they seem small, but they put you on the road. You think about getting off. But eventually, you're back on it."
I just like how in general the song itself can be viewed at many different angles, and I just think the lyrics do rhyme with who Mike Ehrmantraut was as a character in both Better Call Saul and Breaking Bad. He was a person who didn't want to do what he did, he just was getting old and couldn't get off the path he already was on and felt that he wanted to do something good for his grand daughter. Considering she was basically the only thing he had left of his son and felt guilty about his own actions he chose in his life.
@@pengusupreme2392 I agree that Deadman's Gun can be viewed from different angles to fit the arcs of different characters and I wasn't trying to dissuade from that or argue differently. I was simply offering my interpretation, particularly from a Red Dead Redemption context to argue how I think the song particularly represents Jack's story in that series but yes, of course it could fit other characters from other media as well.
@@themadtitan7603 Don't worry, your interpretation is welcome. I was just offering what I thought in return to what you said to add to it more. I played Red Dead Redemption 1 and 2 so I know what you're talking about, it's my favorite game series by far. I think it's sad how Jack essentially just was in the middle of all the chaos, and he was someone who wanted desperately to avenge his father.
Makes me wish there was more story to Jack's side of the whole thing after his encounter with agent Edgar Ross, but hey, you can't deny it's a great conclusion to the first game's story. The part I remember from that series is John Marston's exit from the barn, because it looked like he wanted to sacrifice himself for his own family. I believe it's a very relatable and well-crafted story altogether, plus the games are still pretty fun to play.
Mike is literally my favorite character of all time
I hope Mike is resting in peace with his boy Matty. 😭
Hands down the best character in Breaking Bad universe. It breaks my heart that he couldn't even say goodbye to Kaylee.
Mike is an amazing character, He is pure, honest and loyal. You would trust him with your life. Really makes you realise how much Damage Walt did even though I love Walt as well. Well Written Characters
Wonderful job, as usual! The part from 2:50 - 2:55 showing all the death Mike has seen really got me.
Thank you! I'm really happy to hear you like it. :)
Mike truly is one of my favorite characters from the whole BB univers; definitely in my top 3. His journey was heartbreaking and it makes me hate Walt even more lol. Amazing edit as always. Thank you!
I couldn't agree more, he really is an incredible character and I'll never forgive Walt for killing him either lol. I'm really glad you liked it! :)
@@xHeather360x "You didn't care about me! I knew too much so you wanted to get rid of me! ....Don't patronize me a@#hole! I know you killed Mike! So what...are you gonna kill me too now?" Jesse Pinkman Breaking Bad Season 5
This was really well made, huge props, Mike's story is so amazing and sad that he needs his own show
Thanks! I’m glad you enjoyed it :)
the best character in BB universe
Man! These edits of Mike, Jesse, Howard are all so beautifully made, that they are tearing me up!!! The show was intelligently made that Every character had his own back story and not all of them were Black or white, they were Grey!
These edits just highlight all the amazing writing and cinematography of both BB and BCS,
ThankYou for editing all of them and compiling in such a great video with such a emotional ride!
One of TV's best acted and written characters ever! Fantastic work
such a beautiful tribute, as always. this song is so haunting and you've captured mike's character and his heart so so well. the ending was especially beautiful
Thank you!! I’m so glad you enjoyed it :)
Mike remains one of my all-time favorites from the BB/BCS universe and this was such a fitting tribute for him!
I couldn’t agree more! He really is the best. And thank you so much!! I’m glad you like it :)
what an amazing work my friend, phenomenal quality, keep it up congratulations ♥♥
Thank you!! ♥♥
Walter ruined everything
honestly props to the showrunners for having the bad guy be the protag
he is the best
One of Best edits that i have seen, no stupid pathos, but actually good montage and fitting music
Love the fact that we get to see every version of Kaylee lol
Nice Tribute :)
Thanks, Lalo ;)
@@xHeather360x i still hope you do a Nick (Fear the walking dead) video...
@@SundanceKid343 he was the most interesting character bro I almost forgot about that show completely
@@themoike_prod I completely agree with you! I thought it was really well done how the writers made his transition. It was more like he was more alive in the zombie world than he was before. The authors also placed his death well. I hadn't expected that and was therefore really upset. Also a good actor. Unfortunately, he is sorely missed in the series. I could imagine a really good homage from Heather to him. his character really gives a lot.
@@themoike_prod I didn't like Nick but I respect the actor who played him. He's talented.
As always, perfect. You never disappoint, Heather!
Thank you so much!! :)
Greatest character development TV has ever witnessed
One of my favorite characters from these shows
Thank you for this tribute Heather! Mike is my favorite character from Breaking Bad universe and it's such a shame that there are so few tributes to him. Jonathan Banks portrayed this character so well. Every time he's in the scene whether it's in BrBa or BCS my eyes are glued to the screen.
Of course! Thank you! I’m really glad you liked it. :) And I agree, there needs to be more Mike tributes out there! His story has always been so heartbreaking to me. Now that this universe has been wrapped up, I’m going to miss him so much.
excellent gus fring tribute btw
Damn these tears- Mikes always been my favorite character, great tribute.
Thank you!! I’m glad you loved it :)
Best Tribute!!
Thank you!!
mike is my favourite character, once of the best songs ive ever heard in gaming, this video is perfect
Thank you! I'm glad you like it. :)
This is awesome. It shows us the best of Mike...
this tribute really got me. the choice of music and clips and the dialogues... oh god, everything was simply perfect
This makes me wonder if they could get Vince Gilligan to serve on the writing team of Red Dead Redemption 3 set in the 1930s, putting together the ingenious of both the RDR and BB/BCS concepts. The best game series with the best TV series. This edit is precisely what I've always wanted, a synthesis of these two amazing worlds and ideas.
what a great work
you showed the character
Mike always was a deep person with darkness, light and a hard earned wisdom in him
Shame its not so viewed(
Mike is my second favorite character in the Breaking Bad universe after Hank. This was such a perfect tribute to his character. I hope Jonathan Banks sees this somehow, wonderful work Heather
Thank you so very much TJ! I'm so glad you like this one :)
This guy deserves a spinoff series.🥺💔
The best character in Breaking Bad universe
Oh my god!! Absolutely f*cking AMAZING!! Mike has got to be one of my fav characters on television. Only real men cry when Jonathan Banks cries. Thanks for this Heather you did an absolutely amazing job. You so so unbelievably talented.
Thank you so much, Matthew!! So happy you liked this. I'm always proud to get the donatedpizza seal of approval, haha. :)
This is such a kid named Finger: moment.
Beautiful edit I love these BB/BCS edits hopefully this is not the last one😌
I’m glad you like them! And it’s definitely not the last - I have at least 4+ definite BCS videos I want to do still. :)
Mike’s monologue at the end of Bagman episode hit me deep inside my heart
It always me so happy when you post! I love BCS and your edits are incredible!
Like always, great job! :)
Thank you so much!! :)
well done as always. such a well developed character with such a tragic ending and an even tragic beginning. i love how he adopts jesse and nacho and tries to save them from something they don't belong in. well done. love this edit so much
Thank you so much, Caine. I’m glad you enjoyed it a lot :)
Totally not rewatching this for the 40th time.
S U E M E
There's always a good reason to rewatch this masterpiece
Lived up to expectation as always. The feelsss, my god haha. Need to point out 1:59 to 2:10 is fantastic! The way the lyrics match the reloading, then **lookin down the sight**, smooth Heather smooth. Also I see what you did at 0:56 😂 “please.. take my gun”. I could keep going on and on. I’ll never get over how well Deadman’s Gun fits Mike. Such a perfect combination and your editing made that even more so. Incredible video Heather ❤️ you can see the passion that was put into it.
Damn fine tribute to a damn finely written character and portrayal from a magnificent actor.
Well done.
As always
you choose best character
you choose best music
and you done a best job
great edit
Thank you so much! I'm glad you like it.
If Jonathan Kid Name Finger Bank died I'll watch Better Call Saul, Breaking Bad, and this video for him.
You do tributes for 11 years now… respect
this is truly a masterpiece
Christ, I didn't think I would cry at this song twice.
This is amazing. Thank you for this. I miss the Breaking bad universe so much, so blessed to have watched both BCS and BB
My favorite mike edit so far. I like the song selection very much
Thank you! I'm glad you enjoyed it :)
Such a perfect edit for one of the most badass characters!
Thank you very much! :)
Our time has passed, Mike.
Heather just wanted to say that everything you create is a masterpiece. Your music choice is excellent and, honestly i couldn't think of a better song for Mike. Keep up the good work😁
aww thank you so much!!! :)
Wow. Incredible video. Love the song choice and editing. Keep up the great work. 👍
A wonderful role for a very fine, and previously underrated artiste actor! Mr. Banks' road...suited his talents well. In a word..."Bravo!"
This is really cool. Mike has been my favorite character since breaking bad season 3 and this is a really nice tribute to his story
Thanks! I’m glad you like it :)
Very emotional, loved this !
Thank you, Mat! I’m so glad you loved it :)
I remember hearing this song for the first time playing Red Dead Redemption and kinda reminded me of Mike's story in breaking bad.
This is so perfectly made, I love it. Awesome work!
Well, you did it again Heather! I'd say this edit is on the same level as your last edit on Jesse Pinkman. I've actually watched this edit already a couple of times, and i can see how much you love the character of Mike Ehrmantraut, Joanathan Banks really stole the scenes he was in on BCS for me.
I have to highlight the song of choice, which i must say i'd never imagine a combination like this, and it fits perfecly.
I love how you've putted the quotes at the beginning (road choices) and at the end (talking to Jimmy in the desert about his loved ones), both quotes say a lot about him. Also the sync in 0:33 - 0:38 and 1:59 - 2:08 while he's reloading the rifle, simply awesome. Then the "All you got" parallel (2:58 - 3:00) chef's kiss. And one last thing i saw and i got surprised is the small transition you did in 1:24 - 1:25, my god that was insane.
I'm really hyped to see more edits on BCS from you Heather. Because so far, you're edits have been amazing.
Congrats my friend!
Thank you so much, Max! This is such an amazing comment to receive. I’m really happy you enjoyed this video and hearing your thoughts about it is always a pleasure to read. ❤️
Mike will always be one of my favorite characters! I’m just so glad we got so much backstory of him in BCS that just made us love his character even more. Really going to miss these characters and universe so very much.
R.I.P. John Marston, Mike Ehrmantraut
this is the moment breaking bad became red dead redemption
Thanks heather for these tributes, Mike was my favorite character alongside Nacho in both breaking bad and BCS. This tribute does him justice, just as every character you do a video on. Great job!!
Thank you very much!! I really appreciate it. :)
Oh man great edit My fav character in BB Universe
you never disapoint us with theese edits! SO GOOD
Thank you so much!!
best one yet
Thank you!
Maybe my favourite character ever put to screen.
Great edit
Amazing tribute as always. Such a darkly beautiful song for a great character. I'll miss him and the shows a lot. Can't wait for another re-watch one day. Before or after that though I'll be very much looking forward to any videos you release. It always makes my day watching one and I typically return to them several times over, at least. Thank you!
Wow, thank you so much! I’m really flattered to hear you look forward to my videos. And, I’m so glad you really enjoyed this one, too. :) It means a lot!
Incredible character. Incredible song. Incredible video.

Excellent! Really beautiful. Until this day I still use the "full measure" line from him. Thanks for the edit ♥♥
I’m glad you like it! Thanks :)
I love you man thanks for this masterpiece
This is beautiful 😭
Thank you!
@@xHeather360x I also wanted to mention that counting stars video for breaking bad deserves way more views I remember for the longest time it had too little.
This was wonderfully put together!
I love Mike, and while far from perfect, I still often wanted to give him the longest hug.
Thank you so much! I’m glad you enjoyed it.
I haven’t even hit play and I’m buzzing with excitement.
Edit:
Thank you for making another brilliant edit for my favourite Better Call Saul/Breaking Bad character, Pop pop.
As always, love your work Heather :)
Thank you so much!! I'm really glad you like it :)
3:21 😢
What made Mike so perfect is that he was ready to die in order to provide for his family just like Walt, but unlike Walt, he kept a code to himself, one that allowed his family to never get involved. Even if he died, Mike won. He achieved everything he wanted, and the only thing he lost along the way was his life.
I saw another edit with this song. And... My God... It is the best song for BB/BCS edit and for Mike personally. Thank you Heather for another good edit. Still waiting another one about Jimmy, which you promised to do when the show was over
Thank you!! I'm really glad you enjoyed it. And that Jimmy video is still on the way! it's taking me a little longer because I'm currently going through all his scenes right now, making sure I don't miss anything important. :)
Excellent send off for such an amazing character. Thanks Heather!
Thank you! I'm happy you enjoyed it :)
An all around perfect video for one of the best characters in the Breaking Bad universe. These BB/BCS character tributes of yours are really freaking good and I can't wait to see what you cook up next Heather! :)
Thank you so very much, Jason! Always means a lot. I’m really glad you’ve been liking the videos. :)
a masterpiece pure quality please dont stop what youre doing
Absolute BANGER, great job once again ❤️ My favorite part has to be the first few seconds showing how Mike is at peace with the path he is on and the choices he made as opposed to Jimmy. Never really noticed that
