I have seen the Doobie Brothers open up for Foreigner in MYRTLE BEACH SOUTH CAROLINA at the High School football field years ago. What a night to remember!!!
Tom Johnston sings this. He was the original Doobie's lead singer and his is the era I prefer. He later came back as I saw a collaboration done at home, during the covid lockdowns of Black Water.
ROCKIN' in the 70's man.....nothing like it !
I've always felt that Bill Payne's piano playing just made this song!👍🎹✨
Tom Johnson is the original singer...and sings this. Michael McDonald was part of the Doobies on keys and backup vocals, but took over lead vocals after Johnson had his issues.
Great choice
Groovy. Thank. You
Get some earphones guys
I remember driving my own muscle car ('68 Cougar) down the freeway with this song blasting! Great memories!
They wrote this song about China Grove after their bus broke down there and the town made them welcome and took care of the band!!! 🎶🎼🎵🎸🎧🥁🎤🎹🔥🤘🤘🤘🥳🥳
They were my first concert in '75. There was no internet or any social media back then. So we didnt know, the lead vocalist Tom Johnston stopped on the tour of there new album "Stampede". Because of an ulcer. The 3rd guitar player Skunk Baxter knew a guy who could step in. Enter Michael McDonald. We didnt know. But we saw one of the first shows with Michael. I knew something was different but like I said, there was no media. Still a great show. Listen to Neals Fandango from Stampede. Great stuff.
Saw them in concert (1978) they started this song with a flaming mallet on a huge gong. Awesome concert.
Right, this was with original vocalist Tom Johnston. South City Midnight Lady is a great song that shows a different side of the band 👍
On this particular song
Tom Johnston guitarist/ lead vocals
Pat Simmons guitar/ vocals
Tiran Porter bassist/ vocals
John Hartman drums
Michael Hossic percussion/ drums
Michael McDonald joined the band after their 5th album due to a severe illness to Tom Johnston
The Firm - "Satisfaction Guaranteed"
🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Paul Rogers(Bad Company) vocals
Jimmy Page(Led Zeppelin) guitar
When I was young I focused on the guitar on this but now that I am older and have played in a lot of bands, I absolutely love the bass guitar line on this. It's funky as hell set against this rock framework. And those guys are just so good.
FYI - its China Grove (not Groove). An actual town in Texas "down around San Antone" just like the lyric says.
Dyce, I saw Boston in a small arena after their first album came out when I was in 9th grade, and the ticket price with Sammy Hagar and his Red Raiders opening up, including all fees and taxes, was $7.50.
Your friend has a nice Irish accent 😂
This is 70s era Doobie's sound. Michael is more 80s era sound.
Great reaction guys 👏👏👏 to a fantastic song 😎☮️
Minute by Minute next dude with Micheal McDonald !
Michael mcdonald is not the lead singer on this song or most of their early songs.
Looks like rhythm guitar would be for you , he may Have to take the lead
Excellent choice!
