Exquisite requiem - so Rutter! - performed by lovely young voices.

Bravo Allen and UNT A Cappella Choir! Lovely! I suspect it was more glorious in person and that the placement of the mics for this recording did not reflect the full strength, subtleties or balance achieved in the room. I was interested to hear/observe the "boy-treble" sound of the first soloist - sounding much like the English sound ideal . . . but very glad that the rest of it was energetic and warm.

Is it possible that the (more advanced) UNT choir is not as energetic and intentional about their consonants as Maestro Hightower's previous collegiate choir? When accompanied by instruments those have to come out more. (Now I understand that only three rehearsals were possible before performance! So this is quite remarkable.)

Mighty brisk tempi. Almost 5" shorter than most other folks.
