@@londoncenturies in hindsight it was an amazing week. At the time parts of it were awful. I have no intention of riding the route again, but I now have the confidence to tackle many other routes.
Fantastic video, you both are legends doing that kind of distance. Just pity couldnt get into Glasgow to cheer you on, thanks for taking use all along for the ride. 👍👍
Please tell me Will DIDN'T arrange for the sheep to get stuck as an info control! Well done lads - you are now part of the BGB legend. That looks very hard and as such, I shall also be voting to have it removed from the audax calendar 😂
That didn't disappoint it was an hour+ of quality entertainment 👍. It came over as a very hard/tough week of riding and pushing with not much time left for loitering 👍😉. A massive well done to you both Respect
Hi Paul, having looked at your amazing footage over several days it’s only now I can appreciate the scale of the undertaking, Will Pomeroy has compiled the most outstanding Audax route showcasing the most spectacular countryside given your picturesque images taken against a background of strenuous riding. The offroad must have been very hard given all the loose rutted surface, (hats off to your off-road skills) I did say in a previous video your wheel build price was a little on the high side. Well without your wheel builder’s skills I doubt if you’d have completed. How wrong was I. I hope you are both recovering and looking forward to the next adventure under the watchful eye of Mr. Ludlow. Best regards South/Shrop Dave.
Thanks Dave. It was a hell of a week. Damian and I were back out yesterday for a hilly 200km ride in the cold dark north. Legs were good, but the video camera was left at home because I just wanted to enjoy the ride. We’ve got another 300km coming up so maybe I’ll film that?
Thanks, Paul for taking the time replying to this and all the other comments given precious family business and day to day commitments not forgetting the time spent capturing, editing, looking for those elusive donkeys and uploading fab content onto your channel. @@SaddleSore
I had deliberately held off watching until I had some space from it. Enjoyed the memories and seeing where our experiences crossed over and differed. Hoping to have my video out in the next week or so.
Looking forward to watching yours… as you say, to compare and contrast. And to see what the inside of a hotel looks like compared to our grim accommodation!
Bike was perfect… performed flawlessly. Had to change rear brake pads on the last day but that was it. Running 36mm WTB Exposure slicks. Some sections were very sketchy, but I’ve done enough mountain biking to make nearly all the downhill sections rideable.
Great job, watched to the end. Sorry didn't reply, I got your message. I guess now I've seen the video I can better under BGB, yeah it looks fun, nice mix of off and on road. Recognise a few places including Cam High Road, I too pushed up there not so many weeks back. Certainly interesting to see some off-road in an audax, my opinion is there should be a few more audaxes in the calendar with gravel in them given the popularity of gravel bikes over the last few years.
Thanks Barry. Tyres are WTB Exposure 36mm. Totally slick which was fine in the dry conditions, but might have been a different story if the off-road sections had been wet.
Enjoyed that and having ridden a fair few of the highlights over many many rides, I sort of want to do it but think it may be a daft idea.I know what that Will is like with his hills......
Next year will hopefully be the easy version with only a few easy gravel section, and with sleep stops. Can't promise you won't walk some of the killer hills though ;)
I guess that's Audaxing over for you now, how could you top that? LEL and PBP would be comparatively civilised with all their controls with beds and food. Amazing work 👍
Completed it mate! To be fair, I still need to tick the PBP box, but that can wait. And there are plenty of other stabby audaxes that I still need to be brave enough to enter.
Road the pistyll packing momma route last weekend. I was feeling pretty chuffed with myself until I came across the BGB yesterday.. .wtf, totally nuts.
I know what you mean… you ride something you think is at the extreme end of things and then you find out it was nowt compared to what some folk ride. It’s all relative though… as long as you’re pushing your own boundaries who cares what others are doing?!
Excellent. It's just a thought but on your next video why not have a swear box. It wouldn't take long for you and Damien to have enough money for a new bike. Keep up the good work I haven't laughed as much watching a cycling video 🚴🚴🚴
i don’t miss long rides through the night….soggy wet chamois at 4am is not funny 😩….they should bring back the Exmouth Exodos though that was a nice little out and back jaunt from Bristol 🥳
Fair play, great riding both. I can get my head around the hills and the distance. Camping also adds to the adventure but the off road sections on fully loaded bikes that can't have been fun 😢. Mega kudos and keep the donkey porn coming 😊
The distance was fine. It was the incessant climbing or descending on steep hills that made it such as slow ride. And yeah, the off road sections didn’t help the average speed!
Brilliant, I'm glad we did it. Audaxing elite level, hardest job in the world.
Hills… thousands of them.
Phenomenal. Just phenomenal. Hats off to you both. Great vid. Blown away. Speechless.
Thanks. You should give it a go. #23 would suit you!

Great video Paul.
Well done to you and Damian. Tremendous riding! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻🎩
Certainly on radar for next year.
Deffo give it a go. It isn’t easy, but it’s very rewarding.
Your best video yet Paul. Chapeau to you & Damian on completing that...looks an utterly mad ride! 👏👏
Thanks 👍
This is so impressive! I can't imagine how tired your legs were throughout this. Incredible views and incredible accomplishment! Well done, Egg.
Thanks Mush. My soul was the tiredest it’s ever been!
That route is perverse. Well done for persevering and sharing it with us!
Thanks!

Long live King Will… the deviant pervert!
Just one word, BRUTAL!
Pair of heroes right there, amazing effort guys 💪
Thanks. Brutal was one of favourites words that week!
Your cycling kit matched the hotel at 54 mins 😅 Cracking ride you two!!!😎👌💥 Now every other ride you'll ever do will be a piece of cake😁
Unless Damian persuades me to ride another horrific route with him!
@SaddleSore You know he will and you know you will😅

Immense respect to you and Damian. That was epic.

That looked hard. I'm very impressed - and inspired to go for a gentle cycle tour. Thank you.

Did your gravel bike cope with the off road looked very scratchy what tyres was you using

I’ve done a lot of those unpaved roads. On a motorbike. With 300mm of suspension travel. And great fat knobbly tyres. Loon.
Me too. I know which I (and Geoff) prefer.
Also - you’re very welcome. Being able to watch you whistle past after seven days of the toughest riding was a privilege.
