  • These were very nicely redone. This hotel used to be The Siena, but they changed names and renovated the entire property a couple years ago. These were OTIS Series 1 elevators that honestly weren't even that bad. They just got a cab and fixture replacement. Everything else is definitely original. The motor still sounds weird and the doors sound the same. Overall, this was a nice renovation though. I threw in an old video of what these used to look like so you can all see the results. The blue Series 1 look-alike indicators are cool.

THESE were "originally" Otis... but 1950s Westys were here originally but were entirely (I think?) ripped out. This was the Holiday Hotel & Casino until the mid 1990s. By the time I started coming to Reno as an adult, this place was on the fence of a little sketchy and HELLA fun!! Just to prove I'm not having a "senior" moment, it used to look like this... renohistorical.org/items/show/107#&gid=1&pid=7

Definitely pretty obvious that this is just a slap on. Probably the only reason this was done was just simply so the elevators blended in with the new hotel renovations when the place became a Renaissance.

these elevator cabs are beautiful. They have "home means Nevada" at the bottom and the desert not only on both sides but on the back too, correct?

I honestly like the mod even though it’s kinda stupid.

Why is it that all of a sudden, elevator companies just want to eradicate all Otis Series 1 and Dover Impulse elevators?

Yeah it doesn't make any sense. I agree. They look modern, are durable and ADA compliant and have most if not all features modern elevators do.

Nice mod, though I think it’s a pointless mod.
