Hey guys, unfortunately I have only had the DLC for less than 24 hours, so I've rushed this video out. Tomorrow I'll have more for you, including a look at all of the units for the Ethiopians, as well as a Civilization Overview for Hausa. Let me know what else you would like to see!
Well given how much history you learn through video game osmosis I'd say it's about time. I'm really embarrassed that I know basically nothing of African history outside of North Africa being part of the Roman empire.
hausa is totally like mali/songhai civs, thier arechitecture almost the same. hausa, taureg, berber are cousin to arab and jews, that why they are similar, mali adpoted tuareg and hausa culture and islamic, i love to see pure african with semitic influences like Benin, Ashanti/akan, kongo, uganda and zulu, uganda and zulu can be like lakota and iroqious civs with simple village, round huts, others is south east asian, like thai, burma, javanese, aceh, malay, sulu/south filipino, cambodian/khmer and vietnamese, grand palace bangkok city like is the best exampe, for javanese with red brick wall and candi bentar gates with joglo roof and tajug roof, thai with multi-tier roof, for malay we can add pagaruyung palace or melaka palace complex. north, center and south be enogh, i love they add more native civs like southern chile, argentina native, eskimo, australian aboriginal, taiwan/formosa native. and add 3 polynesian civs like hawaii, tonga and moari.
@@IvO09 umm actually the civilizations that he reviewed the hausa and ethiopia both have a long history of written and recorded history for example ethiopia had the kebrena nagast or the glory of Kings which documents ethiopia's history straight from its founding to present based on truth and mythologies and the hausas also have the kano chronicles which details the history of the hausa people and the line of sarkins(Kings) and were established by timbuktu scholars that immigrated to kano and connected it with many intellectual centres like timbuktu, Cairo, fez, bagdad etc

Hey Drongo. This is unrelated, but thanks for fixing up the replays for the latest tournament. Quality was perfect; I could focus on the game without getting bothered by a slow playback speed since you set the frame-limit correctly. I will get around to watching the rest of the semi-finals when I can, but thanks for taking the feedback in stride.

I wish he would have gone into more detail on how to get influence. In fact, he only mentioned the mountain monestaries. Since a lot of the cool units require influence, it would be good to know the intricacies of how to get it.
The USA really standed out in mechanics and things they could do but the african civs look like they also have very diferent playstyles, can't wait for new strategies and to see what diferent/new techs and shipements they have

@@perisemiotics3204 First, I'd like to clarify this: AoM doesn't have a DE (Definitive Edition) right now. I'd like to see it to be announced this year. AoM has an EE (Extended Edition) and it seems bad compared to the classic game. There are some bugs and other issues so that's why I think we need a Definitive Edition for AoM, and this year seems pretty good to get it because this year is the 20th anniversary.
@@gasoagui yeah, it's worse than I thought. They've already released an xpack for that EE, do you really think they'll change course and remaster everything again? Full price for that is unconscionable, it's basically the same game with updated graphics.... clear crash grab - to pay for that is give them reason to keep doing this. I can think of a hundred games I'd rather buy with that money than the same game I bought (and own on CD instead of depending on an online service) 20 years ago.
Hi Drongo, What is the PC Spec for you to get 4k60fps ? (Maximum Graphic Setting?) I have no idea for which Graphic Card should I get for 4k aoe3de gaming.
Some damn Mathematicians should start playing AoE3 and explain all the crazy stats so that people like Aussie Drongo can just sort it out by trying and the Mathematicians can see whether the contemporary best praxis thing is arithmetically correct.
IIRC, for the United States, instead of bringing in VA's, the team just used a text to speech generator because bringing in VAs during the pandemic was risky. Sounds like they did the exact same thing here, and it kind of shows.
Also keep in mind he is on a beta server and a lot of units hard sounds from other games which will be changed later so maybe it's not the final voiceover
I'm excited for the dlc, but it's a shame that it only has two civs. Both OG expansions came with three, so I don't see why they couldn't throw in the Zulu or the Malagasy too.
Maybe it'll make more sense when you've done it for a bit but I don't really like the Alliance mechanic; I think it's overly complicated compared to the bonuses European and N. American civs get.
Think it as the United States age up mechanics it works in that same fundamentals. You pick an alliance/state and get bonuses according to the alliance/state you chose. I guess it won't be hard to an United State civ player to pick this up.

Its safe to say that they can bring any Civ in this game, and i will be excited. If you asked me two years ago, I didn't know where Ethiopia is on the map, now am excited to play as them in my favourite strategy game. Austrians or Italians next (since Greece could be more of a revolt than a civ into this era).

Actually, most of Ethiopia's land can produce 2-3 harvests a year and European travelers would be surprised by the amount of food the Abyssinians stuffed themselves with. Famines in certain parts of the country is due to war.
Technically Poland is present in the game cause in the description of Germany the civ refer to all Central Europe viva, Infact the Ulhan have a Polish name in the industrial age
@@pietrodemeis880 They DO have a rather disappointing Winged Hussars card. (If they're gonna use regular Hussars, might as well call the card Totenkopf Hussars, in reference to the type of hussars of the same name.)
maybe we will later. it looks like this DLC only really covers northwest and northeast Africa. we might see a south africa expansion at some point, with Boers, Congolese, Zulu, and Malagasy, that would rule.

Hmm... Something about the Influence mechanic feels like a remix of Age of Mythology's Favor mechanic!

Very neat, but that villager at 4:40 has exceptionally poor sound quality.
It feels like the ungodly treatment the NA natives got in DE. So keen to get indigenous pronunciation that they forget it has to sound decent.

Make sure you use the right flag ethiopia 🇪🇹 or you can use without the star but the colors this are right not what you have on😒
