    In the realm of "somethings better than nothing" this is honestly the best ive seen, all I'd personally change is adding another of those bars, a collapsible water bottle and an actual small form factor flashlight as opposed to the button light, but hell I'd buy this its old school and nicely thought out!

      One thing I forgot to mention is there are slightly different variations of this kit.

    • @caseywatson113

      Hi, a 2nd food bar would definitely NOT fit, unless one of the larger square items was removed, which would remove a significant part of the backbone of the kit. There MAY BE some type of very flat and wide bar that you could use to squeeze a little bit more calories from. Food is the lowest priority honestly though.

      @@caseywatson113 another EmergenC or EnerC packet with a couple sugar packets to bolster the carbs and calories of the drink mix or have you on their own would probably fit in there as is. Be a nice little pick me up at the expense of a few grams and not much space inside.

    Well thought out kit. I think they could leave out the Exotac in favor for a better emergency blanket and possibly a little better knife. The condoms replaced by one or two Whirlpak bags. The battery bank is a good unthought of idea, include a small rechargeable flashlight or headlamp maybe, the batteries are already there also? The space is already there in the bag. Can't wait to see your field video using this.

    • @caseywatson113
      @caseywatson113 9 місяців тому +1

      The emergency blanket was the biggest challenge. Even a contractor bag will not fit. I have a huge amount of bivy sacks, emergency blankets, ponchos, space blankets etc. ALL of them are simply too bulky to fold flat enough to fit in the MRE bag. It's an incredibly small space with rounded edges. Square semi rigid items are actually the hardest items to fit. If you have suggestions I will try them out.

      @@caseywatson113 An SOL two person would probably fit? It's a good kit no doubt, I would just make some minor changes and it'd be a great kit for someone that didn't want to put together their own.

    • @caseywatson113
      @caseywatson113 9 місяців тому +1

      @@glockwhiskey6984 No I tried the SOL. It has to be something that is extremely flat and not much larger than an altoids tin. I can't overstate how difficult it is to cover all the bases in a foot print the size of an MRE bag. Even a contractor bag doesn't fit.

    Not a bad kit but...get rid of the exotac nanospark and the extra condoms because theyre not necessary, in their place add a mora fixed blade and some sort of shelter component besides the cheap poncho. It does have better brands in it but I would rather go with a lesser name brand while still being quality to allow more items, exotac makes great products but its just not necessary with a lighter and ferro rod. Its not a bad idea but a little cost prohibitive imo 🤷 but at least its not filled with complete junk lol.

    The batteries look like they’ve the bargain basement Chinese variety that will inevitably leak and eventually damage the remainder of the contents. The poncho would be next to useless in comparison to the SOL version or even one of the better space blankets. The remainder of the contents were better than I expected though a couple whirl pak water bags would be nicer than the condoms.
