I made a small kit for my mother a few weeks ago. Most of the stuff I put in it came from dollar tree and dollar general, and the quality of those items might be as good as what I see in the quake kit. I spent about $50 thinking she wasn’t gonna ever use it anyways. Hurricane Helene wiped out her power grid and she actually used a good bit of stuff from the kit. She got power back this morning and called to thank me for giving her that bag.
The quake kit would absolutely be a good idea for giving to an elderly couple. I don’t think I would use that stuff though. Thanks for the review 😊
Yeah out power was out for 5 days and I was scrambling around helping fam and cleaning up fallen trees. Lots of older folks could really benefit from a kit like this
I've seen much worse kits for triple this price. Looks good but very weak in Shelter and knife dept. Add a decent Tarp and full tang knife would be my suggestion.
Those would be great additions for sure. Whenever I take this kit out for a test I'm going to try and only use the gear in the kit aside from having an additional light source for filming.
Hello listening. Although I like to make the kits, this layout does have good water options. Since the baggies are dark, might be able to melt snow in the sun. I’m surprised not seeing scissors or shear in there. Another good reminder to check the gear(pre-made or custom) and not assume.

Good kit as I need one for the Zombie Apocalypse as a redundancy emergency back when SHTF in an Apocalypse setting, It gets mounted to my bigger rack backpack, which basically comes with an empty Akmax Aluminum External Frame Multicam Nylon Fabric Military Army Rucksack Large Load Hunting Multicam MOLLE Tactical Backpack(Google) and than mounted to that is my CB radio Radioddity CB-900 PRO which can be modified and also has 10-meter sideband, a telescoping carbon pole for the antenna, EF ECOFLOW Portable Power Station RIVER 2 with 45W Solar Panel, and also the review camera system to my medieval helmet. Adds some weight but is doable this will be on me at all times as a standard load out. Naturally, I have a gas mask with dual hoses running dual filters and a water line from a camel water pack. Which is what the empty frame is for the SOP loadout. It's kept fairly light but has room to grow for other operations if needed, like establishing and new safe house or HQ and you bring extra for that purpose. I'm not running around since I'm a paladin/tank build for melee.
This way my fighting and backpack are not going to argue very much for stamina usage. And if an SHTF occurs like a giant horde of undead passes by and you can outwait it for a few days you laughing 😂. Your vechile breaks down, or you find a survivor. Etc...
I wanted a "system" for all of my systems, of air, water, and power management, without being too clumsy and bulky, but with some other "options" in mind for operations. And being foot may be relative to the newer enviroment. As I was trying to see who has a decent 72-hour emergency kit, great review of this system. I really like some of the options as well, as the water bottle is a great design, at least for a survivor, who might be tagging along, and getting them back up to a par of stamina, quickly, as the situation might change. And being able to take breaks and re-energize, as you might be heading back to HQ of sorts, with the survivors, as you might have the 2 people emergency load out with you for this purpose, since being a new area you are in etc... The kits are well thought out enough for basics to get someone by... makes for a good gift as well.

I'll definitely be giving it an overnight Test. In 7-10 days we are suppose to start getting night's in the 30's, that's when I'll be taking it out

I'll definitely look into that. I've also gata do the overnight Testing for the airborne survival kit I unpacked last winter. I never got around to doing the overnight test for it

You need to add the matches to go with that container.That holds the matches, so in case of them they need to peed up anything.Get warm with a fire.They could do so that's really bad thing about that with a striker

You're exactly right when you said that this type of kit would be for someone who doesn't really possess an outdoor skill set, but needs something for an emergency.
For sure. I know this would have been a great kit for a lot of people in my surrounding areas where we just had a 5 day + power outage due to the weather from the hurricane
A strong word of caution on that lantern at the end. It does NOT conform to US electric safety standards. If you plug it into the wall to charge, the USB ports will carry mains voltage on them. A safety hazard for you and any device you might try to plug into it. Ben Heck Hacks on YT dissected one of these and discovered this issue.
