((Ps. I am actually from NYC, so that part about fighting like old couples and feeling safe in a crowd is very true. I don't know, maybe I'm biased haha))
This masterpiece of a Broadway single gave me shudders. And what a great video! I am absolutely flabbergasted at how Mr. Miranda keeps upping his game and making more and more amazing Hamilton-related content. In other words, this man is a LEGEND.
OMG THE CHILLS. I cry every time I get up to this part. It's my favorite part of the entire song because of THE BELTS! Even though I'm a girl, I had to take a lot of time to practice the entire song, especially holding the final notes. Holding the notes at 2:39 is still very tricky for me, but I'm used to it now, because I've actually held those notes before. I feel proud of myself.
If Alexander was alive today and saw the musical after him, I bet he'd be incredibly thankful to Lin and maybe apologizing to him because his life 'does not matter that much'
When Lin dies, Burr just gonna be standing in front the gates hugging him for not making him "the villain in your history". Lin made Burr have depth. This is so frickin good.
Those final notes at the end are so hard for me to sing. I've been practicing this amazing song for 9 months now, and I always run out of breath. And I always get shocked when I am able to belt the notes. I cry at 2:39 too, so you are definitely not alone either.
The Biggest Nut >country engulfed in partisan fighting >408 mass shootings in 2018 alone >rampant racism and homophobia >”greatest country in the world”

FINALLY. I’m so very glad Lin and Tommy pointed out this part of Hamilton’s life. It was one of the best parts, in my opinion, even if it was short. It’s just really awesome to have a song to represent it.
I've always needed this song in my life, I just did not know it until this very moment. The second those violins started and you could hear Lin's shoes, I was just like "this. I need this."
I love the way Lin says “island.” He cradles it on his tongue like it’s at home in his mouth. He tries to give that world as much of a life as it has given him. It’s small, but God, is it beautiful.
I fully intend to have this song blasting in headphones as I walk through New York for the first time... so if you see a tourist galavanting through New York jamming out and acting like there in a music video for this... that's me

Nah, this is classic Broadway. I think a new style has developed recently and that's what a lot of people are now familiar with, but the classic Broadway songs sound similar to this.
Ever since Lin retired the role of Alexander Hamilton, I didn’t think there could be anything that moved me as much as the original show. He keeps proving me wrong
You can see in his eyes how much he loves New York and especially what he does. I've seen stories of people coming across him at shops and on the subway like he's _not_ Hamilton.
No, it's a moment in the Chernow book that Lin and the director Tommy Kail both circled as a point to maybe include in the show but never did. New York put on a parade to celebrate Hamilton after the adopting of the constitution in the state, one of the only times he was celebrated. According to Lin, it would fit right in after the Federalist Papers, during Nonstop-which was why it wasn't used as Nonstop closes Act One. Hope this helps!

EXACTLY THO. My dad surprised me, we were in the Hamilton store on broadway, right across from the Richard Rogers theatre. He showed me a cool book which he had hidden the freaking tickets in. Me being me, I thought someone *left the tickets in the book on accident* **FACEPALM**. But eventually I figured it out (haha im stupid), bought a 40 dollar t-shirt from the store and put it on over my other shirt so I could wear it during the show. It was kinda funny, I asked my dad when we were going to see it, and he said RIGHT NOW. I was like RIGHT NOWWWWW???????? And we had standing seats in the very back, so we couldn't see the top half of the stage. During the first act, I think this guy was the usher? I'm not really sure but he gave me a chair with a cushion on it so I could stand on my knees. But we came back for the second act and the same guy got us better seats in the very middles row of to the left and I discovered that the stage was REALLY TALL XD. But yeah long story (VERY long story) short, that was the best day of my life. Oh yeah and also I met the stars backstage BYEEEEEEE!!!!
Holy crap! This is stunning! This is like Alexander Hamilton, Dick Van Dyke and Frank Sinatra fused together into one musical person. This is Classic Broadway, it is the most Broadway-ish song I have heard in ages! I can see why it might not have fit in Hamilton, but as a solo, this might be one of my favorite new songs. Ah the parade Hamilton never got to see and the song he sang in his heart, amazing! I love it and I honestly don't know which video I love more: The Classic black and white, tuxedoed, crisp, crooner style one. Or this one of him as Alexander Hamilton and the clips of New York. ((Ps. I am actually from NYC, so that part about fighting like old couples and feeling safe in a crowd is very true. I don't know, maybe I'm biased haha))
It's like "New York, New York" and "Don't Rain On My Parade" combined into one song.
This masterpiece of a Broadway single gave me shudders. And what a great video! I am absolutely flabbergasted at how Mr. Miranda keeps upping his game and making more and more amazing Hamilton-related content.
In other words, this man is a LEGEND.
How Aaron Burr wished he was welcomed back into town. “They’re cheering for me now.” VS “I hear wailing in the streets”

2:39
My toast is buttered
My skin is cleared
My depression is cured
OMG THE CHILLS. I cry every time I get up to this part. It's my favorite part of the entire song because of THE BELTS! Even though I'm a girl, I had to take a lot of time to practice the entire song, especially holding the final notes. Holding the notes at 2:39 is still very tricky for me, but I'm used to it now, because I've actually held those notes before. I feel proud of myself.
If Alexander was alive today and saw the musical after him, I bet he'd be incredibly thankful to Lin and maybe apologizing to him because his life 'does not matter that much'
I mean he really wouldn't do the apologizing bit but okay
Yeah I think Alex thought his life was pretty important. 🤣
He’d be like “Thanks for doing this, but here are 2,639 accomplishments you DIDN’T mention. Make another show.” 🤣
When Lin dies, Burr just gonna be standing in front the gates hugging him for not making him "the villain in your history". Lin made Burr have depth. This is so frickin good.
i never forgot that lin was amazing, but he decided to give us a gentle reminder anyways
Lins vrabrato at the end had me DEAD WITH TEARS IN MY EYES
Ur not alone
Those final notes at the end are so hard for me to sing. I've been practicing this amazing song for 9 months now, and I always run out of breath. And I always get shocked when I am able to belt the notes.
I cry at 2:39 too, so you are definitely not alone either.

The Biggest Nut First of all, no. Pedophiles are not part of the LGBT community. Secondly, your name is “The Biggest Nut”, but you want to come for my profile pic. Finally, I didn’t come here to talk to you about gun control, so we’re going to stop this conversation right here.
Heyo, I didn't mean to cause arguments. Settle your problems elsewhere.
FINALLY. I’m so very glad Lin and Tommy pointed out this part of Hamilton’s life. It was one of the best parts, in my opinion, even if it was short. It’s just really awesome to have a song to represent it.
What I love is that I can't quite tell if this is from Hamilton's perspective, or Lin's.
I've always needed this song in my life, I just did not know it until this very moment. The second those violins started and you could hear Lin's shoes, I was just like "this. I need this."
Now I have another song to he obsessed with for weeks

I love the way Lin says “island.” He cradles it on his tongue like it’s at home in his mouth. He tries to give that world as much of a life as it has given him. It’s small, but God, is it beautiful.
Seeing Lin in his Hamilton costume makes me cry!
I miss the OBC!!!!!!
YES!!! LOVE TO THE OBC FOREVER!!!
Wow, Lin's singing just keeps getting better!
Agreed!
I fully intend to have this song blasting in headphones as I walk through New York for the first time... so if you see a tourist galavanting through New York jamming out and acting like there in a music video for this... that's me

This is the most non broadway broadway sounding song in the world
definetly
Madi Kraut Really? This sounds like very classic Broadway to me
Nah, this is classic Broadway. I think a new style has developed recently and that's what a lot of people are now familiar with, but the classic Broadway songs sound similar to this.
Sorry, most broadway sounding non broadway song! I'm terrible at grammar and writing
Madi Kraut oh okay I understand what you meant now! :) I agree!
Ever since Lin retired the role of Alexander Hamilton, I didn’t think there could be anything that moved me as much as the original show.
He keeps proving me wrong
The ghost of Alexander Hamilton possessed him for this song.
Lin's eyes are so sparkly. What a precious human being :'(
OOOHHHH LOOK AT THOSE EYEESS OHHH
Lin might not have the most beautiful singing voice
But if you say he can't sing
You're lying,
he clearly very much can
Lin’s singing has gotten better
@Nala R. he's 5 years older than me
It has!
Lin's singing has always been better
*slams hand on table* BIP BOP BAM, THIS IS MY JAM!!!!
You can see in his eyes how much he loves New York and especially what he does.
I've seen stories of people coming across him at shops and on the subway like he's _not_ Hamilton.
Is this Hamilton's song if he was still alive?
By my understanding, yes. It’s his reaction to Lin’s work and its effect on the world.

LIN IF YOU SEE THIS I LITERALLY CHEERED WHEN I GOT TO SEE HAMILTON
Wowowoowowow all these likes. Just saying, I saw this on November 15 recently, and I’m still obsessed.
SAMEEEEE
Same! It was so wonderful!
We have the same name
I think I about passed out when I found out I was going to see it
I love it and I honestly don't know which video I love more:
The Classic black and white, tuxedoed, crisp, crooner style one.
Or this one of him as Alexander Hamilton and the clips of New York.
It's all like a beautiful love letter to New York and I adore it.
Thank you so much for this Lin!
Xoxo
Anything Lin does is just flawless.

Anyone else not mad about this?
Yes yes yes yes
He is the reincarnation of Hamilton

[LYRICS]
So they're cheering for me now
And the streets hear them cheering for me now
Right up Broadway they're cheering for me now
And one day all the enemies I've made
Might hold their own parade
But not today
I came hear with nothing
Like hundreds before me
And millions behind me
You know you can find me...
In NEW YORK!
Where everyone's different
But share the same island
Polluted and loud
But you're safe in the crowd
Here in NEW YORK!
Today it's my city
Tomorrow who knows?
Today we're a country
Let's see how that goes
Upstate doesn't trust us
They're safe in their sameness
They're scared of what's strange
But each corner means change...
Here in NEW YORK!
Where else can you wander
And hear every language
We fight like a marriage
Then share the same carriage
We suffer the weather
We bind and we tether
In this nation together!
I'm just getting started
And times of the essence
I can't say I've made it
But I'd never trade it
They've thrown a parade
HA! In my NEW YORK!
Cheering for me now
Can you hear them?
Cheering for me now!
