One of the best yet saddest but most inspiring mountain biking videos I've ever seen. Gee just exposed the reality of filming and all the difficulties in the "behind the scenes" in such a brutally honest way. Thanks for showing us this Get well very soon Gee!

Thanks Ignaz, really appreciate the kind words. It was a tough one to put together, definitely feeling grateful to walk away from it, I'm glad people could enjoy the edit.
As someone who’s recovering from a fractured back I found that very hard to watch. I personally don’t want to remember my accident and I’m glad there’s no footage of it. However, I applaud you in wanting to show this and talk about its impact. Also, huge well done to all the team and the Coast Guard & NHS teams involved after the incident. Heal up, hopefully we’ll see you back at a World Cup when you’re healed.
Wishing YOU all the best on YOUR recovery man !!!!! GEE's crash made me fucking sick to my stomach...Seeing that ONCE was more than enough...TOTAL respect AND MASSIVE thanks to ALL that have helped him !!!!!! GEE is a FUCKING LEGEND.
Epic edit. Having been in that exact same S92 'copter with Niek and the crew myself after a crash at Coed y Brenin a couple of years back I can also vouch for the skill of those folks in the Coast Guard. Big up to all the Atherton crew that day. Must have been horrible to witness. Glad Gee's built like a tank and has a mental attitude to match. Epic
Hope you and your sponsors did the honourable thing and made generous donations to the air ambulance and other charities that rescued you and provided care.
It's a beautiful thing.... To be so humble and honest about the whole process. It was a tough watch to see someone get hurt so badly, yet so inspired to know they are able to get back to it and push the boundaries of biking even more. Fair play to you, Gee. We're so lucky to have the rescue services on hand and health services to follow up and rebuild fellow humans who dare challenge the norms. 🙏💪🏽
Wow ... Gee, this was brutal. The moment you loose consciousness and limbs just start to roll freely is terrifying. So happy to see you back on your feet and in the gym. The most terrifying thing about this video is that I know you'll be back on that mountain! What a guy!
Probably the most brutal thing I've ever seen, I hope your recovery is positive and that you're back doing the incredible things you do in good time.... A true champion of life!

Gee, you and your siblings are such great, humble, honest and authentic people. I admire what you are doing and what you have accomplished so far. This video also proves that. Many people say this is absolutely crazy what you are doing. And yes, it is, but I can understand why you wanted to do it. Because riding bikes is your passion and passion is your life. And you truly live your life and fulfill your dreams. Keep on doing what you are doing! A big fan from Austria. One of my dreams is once to come to your bikepark and to ride one of your bikes.... Gee, you are incredible! This was one of the hardest things I’ve ever watched and I hope you never endure a crash like this again. But, this is truly living your life and skills to your absolute fullest potential. Can’t wait to see you back at it once healed.
Thank you so much for sharing Gee! Glad you are making a good recovery thanks to all those around you, the team and the medical staff! Looking forward to your return to the saddle! All the best Mr Gee!
If you ride down that enough times, you're going to crash. It's basic statistics. So do some risk analysis first. I'm not talking about mathematics, I'm talking about realizing that if you crash, you may die or be injured for life. This just seems really dumb, and all these comments congratulating this guy will only make him and others do equally stupid things. And how does he get a team of people together to watch him do this? Group stupidity.
My thoughts too. And on the vid he says hos crew and all made him think "you got this".....but he didnt got this. So lucky to be able to walk again after that it looks like. Like really lucky. Glad hes good, is it worth putting your life on the line for the sake of a video, that probably wouldnt have looked that impressive anyway?
Thanks for sharing that Gee.I broke my foot 4 months ago riding and since being back have been getting fitter and riding faster and stronger then I was before. The power of the mind is huge in this sport and although my riding is nothing like this everyone has a limit and that feature etc that makes thier heart race and make you think twice. For me over coming the fear of failing is the most important thing.A lot of people get injured and then say its not all worth it & dont push yourself but thats a person choice and being stronger mentally knowing your limits and what you can do is worth all of it because you have to have fight.Look forward to the next one & hoping you stay on your bike ths time :D
I know it didn't end as you all hoped for, but ignoring the crash (which is kind of hard to do, I know) I think that this line, this video, is one of the most spectacular, beautiful and awe-inspiring that Gee has ever produced. It made me want to go there and explore the region for myself, rather than just wanting to be good enough to be able to ride like that.
You have an incredible career ahead of you as a commentator and narrator. The eloquence in this video is beyond a simply narrative, but an Intellectual's thought process to fear, danger, and motivation. Thank you for sharing and Godspeed young man. Janeen and I send you the best from Glendale AZ.
Glad to see you on the mend Gee. Very brave of you to show the crash, it will hopefully make riders think twice about pushing their limits when they don't have the crew and support around them and the planning that goes into making awesome mtb films.
Crazy to think how much steeper this must have been than what it looks like on the video, it's horrific to see such a bad crash but necessary all the same. Its like an emotional roller coaster, sending healing vibes your way gee! What a legend! I really hope there's no lasting damage, a real eye opener to see not just the best bits of such a crazy line!
I'm watching this on a PC and still getting vertigo. Unbelievable riding. Equaled by some outstanding work by the rescue and healthcare services. I live in Hong Kong and a few months ago I watched a crewman winch down, secure and chopper out a rider who'd suffered a heart attack and collapsed on an overgrown hillside trail. Total pros, putting it on the line for people they've never met.
Thanks for this. Pure. Real. inspirational on the progress you've made since. Cheers Gee, can't wait to see you on the bike again. Here's to the Athertons, doing it their way. Changing the MTB world.
That rag doll moment....we really are just a bag of skin and bones and blood held together by chance. Gee man is inspirational. Also the fact he is so strong and a complete unit must have helped in that tumble. Thanks for showing the complete edit it brings closure to the accident and the effort the whole team put in for a great film.
Totally insane.... Thank you for sharing Gee, all too often people see this stuff and think its easy. It isn't. Fair play and wish you a speedy recovery. Massive shout out to emergency teams and support crews who help make our lives safe. We have used Air Ambulance services a few times in our industry...donation on its way..
What a great video, even if it is hard to watch. It shows just how dangerous mountain biking can be, and the importance of safety gear and ability. Top marks to all the emergency services, that was some rescue.
That was hard to watch... Gee... You the man! But knowing how it turned out... And then seeing you rag doll down the mountainside... Heavy man... Glad you're OK from it all and on the mend... Look forward to seeing more from you and hope you're able to keep doing these projects!
Already had massive respect for Gee as a professional and his ability to not only conquer mind-blowing lines but to take it to the next level of possibilities. Also massive respect to all his team, family and other support for the incredible effort and support. Heal up Gee and get well!
So glad you came through this Gee. You are a true warrior. Much respect for showing the full edit. It's hard to believe anyone could survive a rag doll like that, let alone walk away. That has to be all your nine lives now mate. As much as i love your edits, i love to see you keep riding more. Heal well.
There is so much in this video! Spectacular scenery and gnarly riding, but what made this edit so good is behind the scenes story and Your honesty! Amazing - Healing Vibes!
Wishing you the best on your recovery Gee. Your honesty and perspective is inspiring. Major respect for your team, first responders and medical crews getting you back up to speed.
There are Special Humans that walk the earth GEE is one of those! So much respect to you Dude for what you do! and your recovery is testament that with quick response something that could so easily have been tragic, results in your life being spared!! This Video shook me! Thank you to all who took part in the rescue!GEE you are NUTS!!
That crash was hard to watch, respect for putting that out. i'm glad you are recovering, seeing you walking about at hardline wanting to ride was great. wishing you a speedy and full recovery Gee.
Thank fck you are not paralyzed in some way or dead after this crash! Glad to see you in working order again and really hope you recover 100% from this. PS: Thanks a lot for showing that sometimes things just go wrong even if you have done it before! You are such an inspiration to just push my boundaries and overcome fear. Maybe i should just go out ride some today and drop down the thing that i hurt myself on, on my new enduro hardtail that actually fits me okay compared to the way too small Retro Hardtail with 100mm travel i did this on last year. I know i can do it as i'm a better rider now and i got a better bike but the thought of "what if something goes wrong?" is always there. Some times this thought keep me from not do things like riding down Crankworx in Innsbruck as a beginner wich i still am but other times i struggle at things i know i can do and you just showed me that sometimes you just have to go out of your comfort zone to progress. Well... That comment ended up longer than expected....
What a legend. Fair play for sharing. Brutal crash. We all know the risks and I love how you just ‘own it’. Get well soon Gee. Hope to see you back on the bike soon,
Well done for being open and honest about this Gee. Very few show the lows...You did and did it well. My respect for you grows and grows.

Gee is an absolute machine.
Cheers boys! this was a beast
How could anyone dislike this video. Huge respect! So so glad he’s alive and walking! Can’t wait to see him shredding again!!
Gee, you are a true inspiration and incredible example of courage and resilience, thanks you!
Sooooooo heavy.
Thank you all who helped this GOAT!!
Gee, you. Da. Man!
Soooooo glad your ok,. Ish.😅🤘
Keep bringing it!
Cheers and thank you!
Heal well.
Harrowing, yet beautiful in the same. Mega shoutout to the fantastic people who got you off that knife and put you back together again!
Thank to all the angles who were their for Gee love from TEXAS
What a legend. Fair play for sharing. Brutal crash. We all know the risks and I love how you just ‘own it’. Get well soon Gee. Hope to see you back on the bike soon,
You and your bro and sis have always been an inspiration to me.
Never more so than the last year.
All the best, keep up the good work.
Well done for being open and honest about this Gee. Very few show the lows...You did and did it well. It isn't so easy as an edit showing the line clean from top to bottom, and the consequences are there and they are yours to bear. This is the truth of what you do. Thanks. My respect for you grows and grows.
