Ha ha. Yes, but it's a cool hidden cup of coffee! These have now survived being shipped around to a handful of trade shows and are pretty close to being retired, having served their purpose. The production versions will soon be rolling out. They are CNC punched and folded out of aluminium.
Oh wow, this is quite cool. I think I might genuinely want something like these someday... Nice work! Cool build. Thanks for sharing it with the world!
Thank you. I've seen people build CNC machines with slides like this. A cinematographer friend stopped by when I was making this and got all excited about using it for a camera slide. The raw angle might be a bit bumpy for that but clean aluminum might work okay. These didn't need to be super accurate so it worked out pretty good.
Awesome work Tanda! I like the window switch idea - I'm surprised you didn't just use momentary switches - but that's a good idea in a pinch with no more radioshack around. I particularly liked that this project included a little bit of everything, wood, metal, laser/cnc, electronics. Really cool way to bring all those skills together!
Yeah, I could have made it much easier on myself! ha ha. The customer was displaying these in the vendor area of the Jackson Barrett Scottsdale auto auction and show and he wanted an automotive theme. In practice these are easily controlled with a simple double pole double throw momentary switch like the one I used to test it in the video.

I should really get into welding someday great job!👍🏻
Thanks. It's a handy skill and would go well with your furniture building!
A lot of work for a cup of coffee, but well done! Very impressive.

It’s now a much more manufacturable folded sheet metal design but this prototype was helpful along the way.
@@TandaMadison Cool cool. It's super slick looking, in the demo.
Wow, you covered just about every Fab technique I can imagine. This gives me so many ideas! Great work!!

Holding solder in your mouth while soldering because your hands are both occupied! Now that's a good woman!
Always working alone so I have to be creative.
