You’re welcome Doug! It’s a simple list with a focus on the basics! Simple can be very powerful!

I've been buying raw stock canes from Canemasters way back when Grandmaster Shuey started the company. I use a Woodburner and a Dremel to carve and customize the cane into Dragons, Snakes, Eagles.etc. Canemasters has recently stopped selling their raw stock canes and I can't seem to find anybody else that will sell unfinished Hickory canes. Disappointing since their canes are the best quality. I hope they change this. A lot of people want to customize and finish their own cane. Love your training vids!

I've considered buying straight 1" round stock hickory. Being a life ling wood worker and rc model builder.. I would use a band saw to cut slits in the end I want the crook. Then I would use carbon fiber and glue to wrap it around pvc pipe and let it dry. I wouldn't need a steam setup to bend the wood... the carbon fiber strips and glue will strengthen the arch. Just an idea right now...

Thanks. I hear you. Don’t hold your breath though. I think they are moving in a new direction. The quality is still the best though!

@@orion_13 Interesting Idea! I am looking into steaming but want to do 1.25'' stock for all the carving...

The crook in my Canemasters cane is not as open as the one you are using in the video. It also has a very pointed/sharp tip. I try spinning it and nearly pierce my wrist. Hurts like heck

I have now been told that my forearm has "tennis elbow". The doctor asked what I was doing to get tennis elbow and I admitted that I was training cane techniques for self-defense. I sent her your YT link because she was interested in the physical and mental benefits.... but told me not to train every day. My condition affects muscles and even after I stop working out my muscles continue to activate causing overuse issues.

similar issues...what is the name of the condition?

@@DesertDog8989 I have Stiff Person Syndrome and CIDP each is rare, SPS is 1 in a million CIDP is 1 in 100k. To have both is unusual but I have met 1 other person online with both so not impossible.
      How about you?

Use a 5-lb dumbbell, raise and lower the wrist on the affected side. It’s not overuse but weak muscles in the elbow and forearm that cause this. I used to get this all the time and, as you are only too aware, it hurts like crazy. Exercises the forearm once every morning. I haven’t had the issue in years now. And I don’t stop the exercise when the pain goes away. Good luck!

@jimcoon unfortunately my condition, Stiff Person Syndrome, can cause muscle spasms and cramps severe enough to break bones and tear muscle. So while your suggestion might be 100% accurate for a typical person it is not for me. 😞

I just realized the only time I turn my feet out like a duck is when I'm squatting on the toilet ... I've known subconsciously I guess since I was a kid that that isn't a very stable position
