@@williammanning5066 To be fair, Spore came out right on the cusp of auto-saves becoming normalized. Spore has committed several atrocities, but auto-save being AWOL feels more like a relic of the time it was made.

Tips from a former Pro Spore-player, or "Sporester" if you will:
"Tab" gives you more of those SLIDERS for each part. "Ctrl" lets you to separate, a nice word for rip apart, the joints on a limb. "Alt" copies a part. And best of all: "A" (the letter A on the keyboard) makes parts ASYMMETRIC! Once you go asymmetric, you never go back-metric.

What button makes it a fun game to play?
Rewatching this series in 2024 made me want to redownload and play Spore, so I downloaded a bunch of mods and played from the cell stage to the creature stage, made an apex predator I named "Growlie" and had a great time.
Then the game crashed without warning and I stopped playing.
Truly the quintessential spore experience.
got back into Spore, had it crash in the middle of showing my friend how the game works. i got to the middle of creature stage in about 30 minutes and hadn't saved. of course, it still saves your creatures, but it doesn't even consider "hey maybe the game should also be saving the save file" esp. knowing that EA was aware of its tendency to crash when loading 😵💫
