This. Lol a hole for more leverage. The ball bearing sets itself in that. Some also have a spring rod you can mount them to your adapter with so the socket doesn't keep popping off.🎉

Wera tools are the embodyment of a quality tool. They have a next to zero customer complaints to deal with. Wera is the gold standart that you will pass on to your children. They sure arent cheap, but they arent expensive either, because they deliver what they promise and thats nothing less than making the best manufactured quality screwdrivers and wrenches money can buy.
I just got this kit today and made a small but very significant mod to it already. I put a hole under the head of the ratchet so I can store it with the 1/4 inch adapter ready to go. To use a socket I don’t even need to open the main compartment. This is how I went about it. With the ratchet in place I poked a hot straight pick tool down the middle of the ratchet hole. First just left a mark then checked for concentricity and adjusted before making a hole, then I proceeded to make the hole bigger with successively bigger drill bits but by heating the blunt end. I let it cool and removed some melted bits between each drill bit, ending in a 9mm hole that came out pretty neat. The adapter lines up fair perfectly with the bit hole beneath it and I place the smallest Allen head bits in front of it. The main compartment closes properly and can be accessed without removing the ratchet. It basically looks factory, no one without the kit would even tell.
As a Plumbing Tech who runs certain service calls in luxury condos and townhomes its very important to have a tool bag that’s not only compact but has everything you need, you’ll look a lot more professional when you don’t need to go back to the truck. Having so many bits in a small frame and an additional stubby screwdriver and ratchet is awesome. That bit holder is also compatible with my impact driver, which is perfect. Means I don’t have to carry bits. They’re all in there. In short I was able to toss the stubby multi bit screwdriver, small ratchet and bits for impact drivers because I got that...
Helping my father in law with his Skoda Octavia this would have saved us so much time and on a side note it's perfect for under my motorcycle seat for off the cuff repairs
I've got this set for 3 years now I think and I still like it. Works as perfectly as on the day I unboxed it. I think it's worth the money. It's compact, high quality and it's an all in one for a lot of situations.
Wera do both Pozi and Philips in gold or silver colour, the gold ones are extra hard or have a diamond dust coating, not saying this guy isn’t a tool though.
Wera is a German brand that is very common here in the EU. They make great quality tools for people that like to DIY regularly. While not being as expensive as brands like Stahlwille (which is a excellent brand of tools more aimed for industrial purposes. A ratchet set sets you back 300-500€) We have a lot of Wera, Facom and Wiha tools. And yes they are expensive but the quality is evident when you pick them up. My dad (who has been doing technical jobs for 30y in a government intitution) always said: “Good tools are half the work.”
No, not a clue about tools at all lol... such a roll haha! I try not to leave negative comments, but this guy is so amped on his gimmicky tool pack that I just couldn't help but agree with your comments... too funny
I have the SAE kit that I keep in my general purpose toolbox with my 12V impact. It is an excellent pairing with the impact driver for general around the house work. The ratchet has come in handy a few times. I don't use the stubby driver much. 95% of the time I am using the bits and the adapter and putting it in my impact.
One key feature youve forgotten to mention is the Rapidaptor Bit Holder (as you refer to quick release) is actually capable of being put through a power tool such as combi and impact drivers. Otherwise not a bad review for people to get an idea of what comes in the kit
You forgot to mention that the bits can be directly inserted into the mini ratchet for close quarter work. I’ve had mine for about 2yrs. Worth every penny
That hole is their for the detent ball on the anvil. Impact sockets all have them. It's not made at all for more torque, it's made just so the socket will stay on.
Great video. I have this set, too. You are right. Totally worth it. I get my German tools at Chad's Toolbox, which is always about $10.00 or more cheaper than, say, Amazon or KC Tools. --- BTW - The regular Philips heads are marked PH. The gold bits that look like Philips are actually marked PZ for Pozidriv screws. They look almost exactly like Philips, but if you look closely, the gold PZ bits have extra lines between the slots for Pozidriv screws - probably made for more torque. I'm guessing.

Someone stole like 400$ worth of my automechanics tools. Thats how I made money on the side. When I invest in more tools, I think it's gonna be Wera. Thanks Project Farm!!
Own it. Love it. It persuaded me that spending more on high quality tools is absolutely worth it. I've handled Snap-On plenty of times and always been mildly impressed but not totally sold. There is a quiet joy when you put a sorted, quality tool in your hand to do a job. Wera put thought and innovation into what they do then back it with build quality. I only wish I could afford more of their products!
At 55 years old I finally started googling high quality bits. I've owned so much essentially metal trash. I don't have the Tool-Check, I might one day. My screwdriver kit should be here by 9pm. Really good quality tools.
I bought my (non-plus) Toolcheck many years ago, and a few years back I accidentally discovered a weak spot: The sliding retainer for the ratchet can easily break if the Toolcheck is dropped "on its head". I contacted customer support to ask if it was possible to get a new retainer/cover (was prepared to pay) - they sent me a complete new holder, *plus* the Toolcheck Plus holder, all for free... sneaky bast***s! Now I had no other choice than to get the screwdriver handle as well 😅 (To be honest, the omission of the screwdriver handle in the original Toolcheck was annoying on several occasions, but I couldn't justify buying the Plus version when I discovered it, so getting the Plus holder for free was a great unexpected bonus). The Toolcheck Plus is my go-everywhere toolset, and fits perfectly in the small back pocket my work backpack. Love the compactness of it for the number of bits, and quality is great. Also, the bits fitting directly into the ratchet is very useful for some cramped spaces.
Nice set, like you say expensive, but some of that is import duty/shipping etc. Imagine what we pay for Snap-on over here in the UK! I can buy this for £53, around $66. For some trades this would be a great EDC, and it’s size means it’s ideal for a motorcycle tool kit.
You can put a bit directly in the ratchet which is useful in very tight spots. Helped me a lot. Also look how much all the included parts are individually. The ratchet alone is over 20 USD I guess. The bit holder probably also.
This tool kit is quite expensive as he said, but it is part of an “ecosystem” where there are different handles, bits, extensions etc that are all interchangeable so i would say that if you want to invest in that “ecosystem” then these are probably worth it, they’re Wera, they’re good, your grandkids will probably use them one day. I’d also say they MIGHT be worth the price if they’re going to be used everyday, if they’re going to be used in hard wear environments, but if you just want an extra or emergency tool kit, buy something from Harbour Freight or maybe Dewalt.
Been abusing my Wera mini ratchet bit kit for about 4 years as an electrician and it’s my lifesaver for tricky situations. It’s a must in the tool set even with the price.
Rapidaptor bit holder has another cool feature- to release bit you need just one hand! First slide outer ring forward, (it holds there), then take bit out with same hand (during that time bit is holded in place by magnet inside). This real unique feature, I like it most when using Rapidaptor with battery powered tool.
The hole in the sockets is to hold the socket to the extension. Line the ball in the extension with the hole in the socket, the ball will pop into the hole she help hold the socket in place
A: regular price on Amazon is around $75 for the Metric. You can buy the Imperial sockets separately from another vendor for $12 much better value. B: the Quality of this kit is much better fit and finish than anything you’re going to buy at Lowe’s or Home Depot. You’ll be very surprised how much of a beating these tools can take and one of the really nice things about the sockets is that they are relatively thin wall so they can fit into places that thicker wall L cheapo quarter inch socket can’t be used. C: This tool kit is perfect for putting in a checked bag if you are traveling on an airplane and you know when you get somewhere you’re going to need some tools, say your field technician going to service a piece of equipment and you know you’re going to need some basic hand tools but not a whole lot of stuff… I carry a backpack with just the basics like one of these kits and a few other things like a pair of channel locks, a meter and some other small necessities… But this kid is incredibly versatile. I actually have considered buying a second one. No regrets on my purchase which I have had now for at least 6 years. Nothing has broken, still works perfectly.
Thanks for the video. I've noticed that all the Tool-check plus models now don't have that release button anymore. Is the quality going down? Has the factory been moved to China? Is it the end of an era?
I don’t have experience with wera ratchets but I have a micro screwdriver from them, I bought it after 2 cheap ones stripped trying to remove a tiny screw that had loctite. It blew my mind how strong the tip is and removed the screw effortlessly. If I could afford it I’d buy all Wera 👍 the micro screwdriver was €9 😬
We use this in germany, they are really good. its expensive. i use one at home and the 2. set is always in the car to remove lights and other things. you nailed it ;-) the other companys i use is Wiha, proxxon and hazet. hazet is top notch for professionals. i think you know some names.
rolliseventeen I bought a set of Wera screwdrivers when I was in Germany in 1984. Still using 2 of them today, the rest have been lost/stolen. Great Quality. Also have some Hazet tools from that time too.
hey if you don't mind giving me a guestimated list of maybe top 5-10 German brands from highest quality to least please would really appreciate it can't find info online and need help deciding weather get gedore/stawhille/bacho
@@andygilbert1877 or anyone who has even if not completely accurate just have 0 idea what to purchase when I find a deal on stawhille and one on gedore set I can't decide which go for I really like the bacho but seem like MSRP is much lower than what can find out here in the U.S so thinking maybe less quality should spend money elsewhere
Let me say after using wera bits in construction, the reason they cost more is the quality of metal used. The bits last way longer then standard bits. It’s only worth the money if your using it often, or just like buying cool stuff. Otherwise buy something half decent and spend the savings on more tools.
That gold ring sparkles before you speak..its lovely.. Can you use a metric set in USA ? This is lovely….ive got several of this type of set from Bahco Milwaukee and Bosch…but im intrigued by the little guy..
I've had mine for two years,I love it,the tolerances are so tight sometimes the bits get stuck in the fasterners, mainly the hexs,I use the torx quite a bit to get out rounded out bolts.
This is a great set that many of the engineers I know use. The prices are a bit steep in the UK at the moment so I'm waiting for a price drop or pick one up at Goodwood FoS in July. Nice review. Cheers
The holes on the socket, that may be for the ball bearing on the socket adapter so theres a really positive connection. Im not 100% on this, but i do have sockets with just a single hole on one side that will line up with the ball bearing on a ratchet or adapter. Also a lot of sockets have little indents inside for the ball bearing to set, a lot of times i see if it has the hole drilled in it those indents arent there. Im guessing its easier to drill one hole than to carve those indents inside the socket. The hole seems to work pretty well, but the downside is youve got to make sure you line the hole up with the ball bearing; if the socket has the little divots typically you can put it on in any orientation.
I've been looking at this set for awhile and I just can't justify the purchase of the kit. The main reason being that most of those 1/4" bits are not going to be used. I work as a technician and I can only see a few bits and a couple of sockets that I would use from the kit. I could easily put together my own kit for half the price and it would work just as well. Thanks for the review to help me reaffirm my decision not to buy it.
I don't think you will regret getting a Wera kit. We have one of these at work, had it for some years now, even if we don't need all the things all the time, it's simply too handy. It easily fits in the pockets, none of the parts have broken or gone missing yet, it's a kit that last many years. Wera can be a little expensive, BUT you get what you paid for.
Another option is to buy the kit and replace some Of the bits that you might never use with ones that you use frequently. Some might use this for electrical work, some might use in a car as an emergency tool kit while others might use for their motorcycle or whatever. I have a little icon kit that I have done this with and I’d do the same with this kit as well.
90 $?! Here in Germany I can get that set for 58,49 € ATM. Maybe that is because it needs to be exported to the US 🤔 Anyway, I love Wera because if their very high quality, especially because if the precision. Their Bits fit perfectly snuck onto any screw. No rattling, no tolerance, no grinding. I also like that I can get single tools from them - I have their handy little bicycle tool set and added a single wrench for the wheel nuts.
@@beardedreviews Excuse my french but there's this thing called a bit socket, not included in this set, which would make us even more confused if we don't use the right vocab.
I just bought a metric and an SAE set for my apartment, hopefully this is a positive review 😂 probably should start watching reviews of tools before I buy them
This is an awesome mental reminder to put my bits back, *proceeds to close it forgetting one is on the ratchet* lmfao. Video is great tho, might pick up a little set to keep in my camaro
The exposure to the weather is a downer for me, I live in a climate that eats people alive, hot, moist, steamy, salty. Nothing lives except the garden flamingos. Also, this lacks enough socket sizes
I own lots of Wera and as for sockets, Wrenches, Bits, screwdrivers, predominantly Aimee at Electricians imo they are hard to beat, build quality, design and packaging are just too good, they’re the Apple of the tool world and the tool cases that they make are so cool. If I see someone using Wera on site I always give a little nod, like being in a cool club! They are expensive for what they are but fuck me do they look good, luckily they work good too!
I have bought this set and I am satisfied. Quality is great. But it is very tiny almost like toys. The downside os you cannot put a lot of force on it. Ok for a quick fix, but if you do a serious renovation e.g. you need real tools IMO.
Wera do some nice stuff, their Joker spanners for example, and they also do a lot of gimmicky stuff and charge more for the development. I think while nice, it leans a little to the latter.
Great review .. I bought one today even without knowing all the full features and boy this is too cool and so solid .. I reckon it will do tough jobs. There is a dial on top of the rachet which apparently helps in speeding up the turns .. but not exactly sure how that works as I cannot find any settings on it, but when I turned it, the rotations went further. Have you tried it? That bit holding magnet is called the Rapidaptor and it is sooo cool. On the whole, this is a high quality solid kit and well worth it. Cheers.
you are special the small hole in the socket is for the ball detent to hold the socket onto the adapter. many sockets have them. its a cheaper way rather than machining the inside of the sockets
@@beardedreviews lol good response decent vid to. Good luck if you dive down that rabbits hole of tools. Their are so many situations and materials and types of tools its nuts. If you have a 1/4" drive 17 mm then definitely. Otherwise you would need a 1/4" to 3/8" drive adapter. For any sockets that big though I'd definitely recommend using a bigger 3/8 or 1/2" drive ratchet with more leverage. Hope this helps
@Hand Tool Reviews I often wonder if the people that make these sets actually use them. I just bought a 1/4" and 3/8 standard and metric set and its 6mm-13mm. like why? why not add one more for the 14mm? or not even include the 13mm. 14mm is so common. especially on the motorcycles I work on

the hole in the socket is for the ball detent on an extension/adapter.
I have so many sets i never. Thought I'd need another. However this is compelling as a core piece of an edc setup. Price is high but seems worth it
Thanks for the video. I've noticed that all the Tool-check plus models now don't have that release button anymore. Is the quality going down? Has the factory been moved to China? Is it the end of an era?
It’s for trades workers and such. Trust me this isn’t just a random assortment of bits. They are great.
I don’t have experience with wera ratchets but I have a micro screwdriver from them, I bought it after 2 cheap ones stripped trying to remove a tiny screw that had loctite. It blew my mind how strong the tip is and removed the screw effortlessly. If I could afford it I’d buy all Wera 👍 the micro screwdriver was €9 😬
6:38 Will the bigger multidriver fit in the tool-check case if you swap?
the notch on the sockets is for the locking ball on the square adapter. not for a screwdriver to be wedged in
We use this in germany, they are really good. its expensive. i use one at home and the 2. set is always in the car to remove lights and other things. you nailed it ;-) the other companys i use is Wiha, proxxon and hazet. hazet is top notch for professionals. i think you know some names.
rolliseventeen I bought a set of Wera screwdrivers when I was in Germany in 1984. Still using 2 of them today, the rest have been lost/stolen. Great Quality. Also have some Hazet tools from that time too.
@@andygilbert1877 Lost, stolen, or in the tool case from co-workers, but still in use i guess. ;-)
hey if you don't mind giving me a guestimated list of maybe top 5-10 German brands from highest quality to least please would really appreciate it can't find info online and need help deciding weather get gedore/stawhille/bacho
Thanks bro, awesome review. Just bought one on Amazon earlier today, looking forward to getting it.
It’s now 81, might wait for it to be on sell but i definitely want one now 😁
Awesome review and loved the enthusiasm and the genuine excitement for the set , it's sold me 👍👍👍
Is jakeyboy bond wearing a bra? Look at his picture 📷! Lol hey guys wanna see me in my red bra lol nice profile picture 😆🤣😂
@@MrSurvivalexpert hahahha it's my Mrs bra
that small hole in the socket is for ball bearing retention thats on the adapter.
no thats for a breaker bar :)
Let me say after using wera bits in construction, the reason they cost more is the quality of metal used. The bits last way longer then standard bits.
It’s only worth the money if your using it often, or just like buying cool stuff. Otherwise buy something half decent and spend the savings on more tools.
hello, thanks for the review, do you think I should continue with the check plus or automotive model to use it both at home and in the car?
That gold ring sparkles before you speak..its lovely..
Can you use a metric set in USA ?
This is lovely….ive got several of this type of set from Bahco Milwaukee and Bosch…but im intrigued by the little guy..
FYI the hole in the socket is for the detent ball
Had one of these for years $90 worth every penny
I've had mine for two years,I love it,the tolerances are so tight sometimes the bits get stuck in the fasterners, mainly the hexs,I use the torx quite a bit to get out rounded out bolts.
What is the model name of the screwdriver from 6:34?
This is a great set that many of the engineers I know use. The prices are a bit steep in the UK at the moment so I'm waiting for a price drop or pick one up at Goodwood FoS in July. Nice review. Cheers
No idea about other countries, but the plus version can be bought for 50€ in Germany
The hole in the socket is to locate on the ball in the driver bit!
I carry that exact set in my Side bags on my motorcycle!
I have read reviews where people say they rust very quickly. Has this been your experience?
Another option is to buy the kit and replace some
Of the bits that you might never use with ones that you use frequently. Some might use this for electrical work, some might use in a car as an emergency tool kit while others might use for their motorcycle or whatever. I have a little icon kit that I have done this with and I’d do the same with this kit as well.
I have a ratchet set from Wera. Fantasic little set.
Great review dude! Oh yeah!!! Happy new year.
I have a load of wera kit and the Allan key that matches the M8 isn’t that green you find on the 13mm socket
90 $?! Here in Germany I can get that set for 58,49 € ATM. Maybe that is because it needs to be exported to the US 🤔
Anyway, I love Wera because if their very high quality, especially because if the precision. Their Bits fit perfectly snuck onto any screw. No rattling, no tolerance, no grinding. I also like that I can get single tools from them - I have their handy little bicycle tool set and added a single wrench for the wheel nuts.
The "bits underneath" are call sockets. The bits above are what they are.
speak english doc. We ain't scientists!!
German made tools arw on the high end but they are better quality than american!! Sad but true. Great review brother. Need beardmeds!!!! Im almost out
Wera is mostly made in Czech Republic though. Still great quality.
The exposure to the weather is a downer for me, I live in a climate that eats people alive, hot, moist, steamy, salty. Nothing lives except the garden flamingos.
Also, this lacks enough socket sizes
very true
The golden bit isn't a Philips (PH), it's a Pozidrive (PZ). Similar but still different.
Customer support is top notch too
wish it had a way to attach the driver to the ratchet to extend the ratchet arm
I have bought this set and I am satisfied. Quality is great. But it is very tiny almost like toys. The downside os you cannot put a lot of force on it. Ok for a quick fix, but if you do a serious renovation e.g. you need real tools IMO.
yea good for a general purpose but not heavy duty at all
Wera do some nice stuff, their Joker spanners for example, and they also do a lot of gimmicky stuff and charge more for the development.
I think while nice, it leans a little to the latter.
Bought the torx bit set, quality gear.👍
58€ in germany. Super quality has its price. You pay for one bit 2€.single price.
Cheers.
Wera makes the best bits.
The ratchet adaptor not being built in to the mini ratchet seems too inconvenient.
Great review.
thankyou man
It’s just missing the torquing feature.
I would buy this if i could get the metric and standard sockets at one time I'm no spending an extra 90 just to get both
This just dropped down to 79 on Amazon 👍
Habor freight would have that same kit for $15, life time warranty, and you could do somwthing else with the $75 you just saved
I've learned more and more over time to love harbor freight. I bet they would have something comparable to this for much less money
would cop if the last bit was 14mm, too bad
Buy their 14mm
This set is much cheaper here in Europe, about 50 Euros which is $55.
you are special the small hole in the socket is for the ball detent to hold the socket onto the adapter. many sockets have them. its a cheaper way rather than machining the inside of the sockets
yea im a noob when it comes to tools. I was just winging it lol
@@beardedreviews lol good response decent vid to. Good luck if you dive down that rabbits hole of tools. Their are so many situations and materials and types of tools its nuts. I come from the perspective of a Person who has grown up in the trades done most thing from cabinet building to installing framing to tiling and i was a dealership mechanic for a few years. Also a person who appreciates high quality tools. I still cant figure out if i want this kit or not feel like i would just put together a custom one for my motorcycle or whatever
Can u use larger sockets? Like a 17mm?
If you have a 1/4" drive 17 mm then definitely. Otherwise you would need a 1/4" to 3/8" drive adapter. For any sockets that big though I'd definitely recommend using a bigger 3/8 or 1/2" drive ratchet with more leverage. Hope this helps
no one uses 13mm idky manufacturers put these in sets instead of 14 same for a 5.5 instead of a 4
@Hand Tool Reviews I often wonder if the people that make these sets actually use them. I just bought a 1/4" and 3/8 standard and metric set and its 6mm-13mm. like why? why not add one more for the 14mm? or not even include the 13mm. 14mm is so common. especially on the motorcycles I work on
No-one uses 13mm?! Erm, 13mm is the standard socket size for an M8 bolt and is extremely widely used.
lol the hole is for the button on the adapters to click into each socket better
no, it's a hole for a pry bar :) yea i messed up lol
You're wrong the color code does not match across-the-board
