WOW!!! This painting is magically realistic and lifelike! Those final touches, with the oils, really put the life into it; especially with the details in the ram. I've really enjoyed the series of tutorials, for this painting, and really respect and appreciate you for breaking it down into these detailed lessons. It really does help being able to see the details of, not only the painting, but the processes of getting the painting going and being put together. Thanks Much!!! Beautiful work, as always!!!
I love your work and enjoy your relaxed style of teaching...it's like you're a friend at my home. For tracing your cut out you could use chalk...partway on and partway off the edges. Then when you're finished leftover marks clean off with a damp cloth or Qtip etc.
This painting is so beautiful! I watch a lot of your videos. I'm a beginner and I learn so many wonderful tips. Loved the one making grass with the sponge. This is going to help my landscapes tremendously going forward!! Thank you for sharing so much!!
Very good painting Chuck. I love all these 4 videos, how you paint all the details, how you explain. And the result is wonderfull. Bravo Chuck Michel, the little french artist
This series of instruction is so valuable! Thank you for helping us and giving guided insight into your process on how to create such a masterpiece. I do have a question. When I draw an element to add to my painting, I first sketch it, then I trace over it with carbon paper directly on my canvas and paint it in. Is there any reason artistically speaking why I shouldn't do this? Thank you again for this detailed instruction. This is beautiful💝💝💝xxx
Thanks Deidra, No there wouldn't be anything wrong with that. At the end of the day you should do what is most comfortable for yourself. You are most welcome and thanks again!
Really stunning piece! I imagine that you varnish your paintings when they are done to even out the sheen between the oils and acrylics, how long do you usually wait or do you do it right away? It seems like everyone has a different opinion on the topic and I was curious to know what yours was. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks Peyton! So no I actually do not varnish. I do however oil out with my alkyd medium at the end to even out the sheen. Alkyd as actually very tough and flexible which provides a good finish layer. Varnishing is not a necessity which is why many have different opinions. I sell my work too quickly to be able to wait to varnish is which is why I do what I do. I've been doing this for years and my paintings hold up very well and true to color. I think experimenting is good and just finding out what works best for yourself. Hope that helps! You are welcome!
Sir amazing to see your these 4 videos on this particular painting with such a beautiful tutorials. Sir I have a question, is it important to use oil paints in the end that you have used?
Chuck, your work is absolutely stunning. I’m more of a messy style painter but I’m just mesmerized by your attention to detail, very inspiring!! Question - do you ever work with a palette knife and if so have you made any videos using one? Thanks!
I made a palette knife painting at one point, but that was the only one and no I don't have a video. Just really wasn't my style. I love to admire at however! And of course thank you so much
Thank you for posting these step by step tutorials and encouraging words... Quick question have you ever used Graphite paper as a way of transposing (I think that’s the word) the image onto your canvas?
OMG you couldn’t put a price on that painting, I’m sure you wouldn’t want to part with it. I watched your video right to the end I’m so glad I did, look what I would have missed.
I love your work.!!! What kind of miniature brushes do you use? the brush you used for drawing the animal was fntastically thin, even, sharp, etc... Of course I realize a lot of the magic comes from the skilled hand of the artist. But, that brush felt so steady. Thank you.
Hi Cornelia. It's Martin from Brent Cross . Me and Monika wanted to get in touch but have no means of contacting you.. Give us a shout on bocza@hotmail.co.uk.
There are several that are great. Anything professional quality like artist grade liquitex or Golden acrylics.. A lot of people seem to like Atelier too
Why not tape your drawing to the painting as you did, then slip some white transfer paper underneath? Or cover the back with white chalk, so you can trace all if your drawing quickly and easily... ?
I've gotten sick of transfer papers smudging from my wrist or Palm which is why I don't use that method anymore. But the chalk ideas a good idea also. Thanks for sharing!
God creates nature i think you r the 1st man to create best ever replication of nature on canvas.....
Thank you for your valuable lessons ...

Chucks paintings are beautiful. I love how he teaches his techniques. I have learned a lot. Thanks Chuck
Great technique! I like the paper cut out, never would have thought of that, so much easier than painting directly to get the right size. Thank you.
Thanks Loretta! Glad to hear
So beautiful and so many mixes of paint for the different layers. Hope someday I can accomplish my layers to make more interest in my work.

Buena idea 👍👍👍 🇪🇸
amazing painting, congratulations. like
I never thought to layer oils on top of acrylic. Do you do this for vibrancy?
Chuck Black is very nice artist .
This is wonderful!
I bought the sponge brushes. How do you clean them since they are used with the oil paint?
Thank you!
Have you ever accidentally reached for your painting mug (when your deep in the creative zone) thinking it was coffee... :D
Hi Chuck painting is fab !!! A question do you use the same brushes for your oil paints ?
Thanks Sandra, I sure do! Just make sure that they're washed between each type of paint and dried thoroughly
Did you use oil or acrylic?
Chuck can we use the sponge technique in oil paints too ?
You sure could. It will just be harder to clean them and change colors on the fly. Thanks Salvat!
Do you always have to varnish the acrylic before using oil? Does it just have to be a regular acrylic varnish nothing special?
Hi Cornelia. It's Martin from Brent Cross . Me and Monika wanted to get in touch but have no means of contacting you.. Give us a shout on bocza@hotmail.co.uk.
Oh cool
Chuck can you tell me, which brand of acylic paint is best ples?
There are several that are great. Anything professional quality like artist grade liquitex or Golden acrylics.. A lot of people seem to like Atelier too
Thank you chuck for your kind imformation and I am your new subscriber.
Couldn't you have just used white transfer paper to add the sheep? Seems like it would have been much easier?
🙂👍👀🖌🎨🎨🎨🇺🇸🇨🇦

Look at modern, degenerate "art" and then look at his artworks...👌
