    At 44:00, regarding color blindness. The lifesteal and poison gems on top of the card are VERY similar. Maybe changing the hues or changing the colors altogether (with possibly a setting? Making for example lifesteal blue).
    What most developers do wrong is to just put a filter on top of everything. Instead, making a settings page where you can tweak colors for individual aspects is the way to go if you have the resources. Using the example of lifesteal and poison. I don’t need to change anything else in the game, it’s fine as it is, except that one part. I don’t want to make the game “uglier” just to fix that issue.
    Super fun game and I’m happy it exceeded my years long build up of expectations! Favourite game of all time already

      I think turning the heal gem into a green +, the shield one into a yellow shield and the lifesteal one into a dark red blood drop would also solve any color blind issues without much of a hassle

    If The Bazaar is this addictive in closed beta, I wonder how addictive it will be with hundreds of new items and synergies to come later down the line lol.     The world builders of Bazaar are amazing. They've really brought every single character NPC in the bazaar to life with personality and its my favorite part of the game by far. Super polished. A++

    I just wanted to say that I played a shit ton of this game and enjoyed it very much. I know you guys face a lot of criticism on balancing and such atm (don't even start reading the subreddit, it's horrible), but the fact that so many people enjoy this game despite some of the the problems the game still has, should be a sign that you guys did very well with this product. I'm excited for the future!

      Sentiments like this are crazy to me. Hearthstone started Reynads career, it’s been going for 10+ years and many of us enjoyed it for a huge portion of that time. It’s past its prime,but its influence will be felt in the Bazaar and other games. So like, why the competition and comparison??

    As someone who is hard of hearing I would be appreciative of some small subtitles for the voice lines throughout the game. I love the overall audio and vibe of the game but words can be hard to make out. Would love to immerse myself even further with the world and characters. :)

    Most of the time "betas" are either excuses to get a quick cash grab on a game that'll never be finished and was started like a few months ago or it's basically an exclusive preview to generate pre launch hype for a game that's already finished, this is a true stress test, player test real proper use of a game beta
    Also it's very reassuring to hear Reynad say they won't add game speed options as people will just fast forward the game to optimize grinding and will cause the game to look garbage, he really does know how gamers think.
    Also reassuring to hear I'm not the only one who thinks dooley shouldn't have poison

    For player looting- just have specific days- maybe 7 and 14? that you are guaranteed to be matched with your same hero. Then you're pulling from the same set. You could choose to loot a random item within certain tiers/size (bronze/silver small day 7, gold/plat medium day 14) or just take xp, regular loot, or a random small/med item of a tier.

    It would be interesting to have the contribution data for each card from the last battle displayed when hovering over it. For example, a card might show that it dealt X damage in the last battle, or another card restored X health in the last battle.

    Sitting at desk thinking about card design, the following are a few ideas.
    All of these ideas are malleable are here to be put out into the world. **
    Scaling items. -- Specific small, medium (silver tier to be safe) that scale with monster loot.
    e.g. a small armor friend who becomes more powerful based on the amount of ammo eaten. Or an item whose text read, Shuffle your opponents carpet but the caveat is that is has high cd and is double affected by cd reduction (level would lower cd one time like virus but nothing more) - so on and so forth for burn, poison, crit, shield etc..
    Secondly, love day one encounters but how about this for a special one. what about on low % you find an academy instead, which in total takes two hours of day one but offers you three enhanced fights. The first time you click on the academy you get the skill apprentice (On player combat victory gain 2xp, 3xp - would be a gold tier monster skill.) - if not monster skills, could be the first in the long list of event skills
    The academy would offer you three very high risk fight:
    First creature that does 90% of your hp off the start (large Item could read, does 75%, 80%,85%,90 %max hp but cant crit, and cd is 20s) has skill apprentice -don't know what its health would be but the numbers would be adjusted so you die instantly at sandstorm if you weren't able to dmg check.
    Second creature would be a display of strength, this creature would just have an unheard of amount of day one health 450 but all of its items deal no dmg but are entry tickets (a small item that reads consume me on th start of day X for access to the special shop - just make it another fortune shop without the cost of 0 prestige) and a skill (apprentice -> which would make it diamond tier)
    thirdly a creature with a skill (apprentice) but it would have 175, 3 regen health and a large item called pool of reflection (bronze large location item, that reads - has damage = (50%, 75 %, 100%, 200% of damage taken (includes storm) ).
    all of these fights would be skippable as well because you're no longer at midday. The balancing behind this would be, on a baseline you spend two hours and get a 2xp investment but you have to win, sabotaging early shops for a whole lotta scaling. I know I already avoid the viper😭... but like dopamine goes vroom when it sees the red crystal border. For theming, these creatures would be your instructors because afterall, you'd be there to learn

    Hi, Hi. About player looting. I think that the "Kripp idea" wasn't far off.
    There might be an option to sometimes go against a player ghost who beat the monster on the current patch cycle.
    Imagine something crazy like - day 7, the pirate bird seems weak to you? How about a player who beat it.
    Or just less crazy with more common monsters.
    This could become more and more likely as you progress, so guaranteed day 13 fight against a player, if chosen.
    It could also serve as an interesting learning experience for players - "so this is the build that can beat Void Golem.

    I’ve had the thought of keeping the life total on the health velar center locked and putting life related stats (regen and shield) on the left and damage related stats (poison and burn) on the right. The two greens are a little close and keeping them clearly divided could help visually impaired and new players.

    As a TFT player I love this game. It has the same kind of discovering builds along the way that is what I want from TFT. Sometimes TFT has this but not always, depends on the patch.

    with all humility, i remember thinking to myself how much i loathed the freeze mechanic--but i later realized it legitimately makes the ecosystem of builds more healthy.
    i still don't love it, but just on a super macro level it really makes a ton of sense. it only feels bad when freeze is such an incredibly incidental part of the opposing ghost's build but it just so happens to pay off massive dividends against yours. i'm happy to hear you express a resolute desire to keep it in the game, though.

    I got a key from my friend and I don't fell like my f2p experience is awefull. I got the first hero in 3 days, the secons one in like 2 weeks, which is fine. Grinding 1500 for the next hero seems a bit much but hey I am still a free to play gamer who can trade in his cosmetics for something in the future

    Just some insight to players mind. I'm excited to see more of the types of cards get more love. Like you mentioned regeneration being pretty core to a character that is coming in the future. I would love to see not just what we have currently get expanded on, but as well as new things get added and used too. I'm not sure at all what your teams philosophy behind balance is, but i believe the game would be more fun to play if more things had viability. The games is at its best when you have many good options. While characters have 100 cards sounds like you have loads of options at any given time. Some items seems so behind others with balance that can just about take them out of the card pool any no one would likely even notice they're missing. So keep things strong is in my non game designer opinion more fun rather then trying to tone strong stuff down more. Also big numbers, fast attacks and that sort of thing is just more fun within reason of course. UI can use work, specifically in regards to opening the crates. First time i went to open a crate it actually took me a little while to figure out where even to do that at. Minimizing the clicks it takes to navigate to anything in the menus would be priority 1 with regards to UI after that maybe adding little notification bubbles or something to let people know like "hey you got a chest here you can open click this" would just help the newer players immediately be able to navigate the menus like someone who's been playing the game months can. Lastly, something you could add way down the line as huge quality of life that would be really cool is a like a "training area" where you can have full freedom of items, rarity, enchants, skills whatever and can just test things out. I think it one would be a great place to familiarize yourself not just with the game, but characters too and i think some items are more complex in how to use them would be cool to really test out items. For example, there are some monsters items in the game right now that are monster only and have really cool, but very unique effects that is really hard to on fly know how to use them. With that training area i would be able to check that item out in tons of different set ups to get a feel to how i could pivot my run into using a really rare but cool monster item.

    1:38:20 it could be cool to make it "streamer" encounter, where you combine the encounter with the content creator support.
    Just give people the "creator" tag on their accounts and pull from those, so you are not just limited to kripp builds :)

    the most fun way to play the bazaar is not to try win, just to try to come up with fun builds and have the offchance that they work. it becomes a creativity and self-expression game vs. a competition

    I feel like the counterpoint to the idea of having "no upgrades" is that if there are no raw upgrades it just permanently favors the cards that have inbuilt scaling. The real issue with puffer fish/monitor lizard is that they have insane scaling and synergy outside of the straight upgrading mechanic.
    If I'm trying to build around medium items and I don't get a crook upgrade my build insta loses. Sure I can pivot, but unless you mega buff the gold cards that appear, they will always be worse than the scaling card that someone got at level one and has had 5 days to build around and upgrade.
    It's not even just with those OP builds. It's also the same with trebuchet, or like getting a silver beast of burden start.
    So then the game doesn't become "dynamically pivot and modify your build" it just becomes "force the builds that have infinite scaling with some cheap common"

    On the player loot topic, you could add an event to fight another player and get a loot item when won. And like 3 XP or so. That be neat. And probably a good way to add player looting without flooding the game with too much of it.

    with the upgrading items conversation. If upgrades would be even more rare, wouldn't that just decrease the value of most merchants by a ton? combine that with monster loot and it's gonna be hard to ever wanna go to a merchant once you got a couple good/decent items early on and applied some monsterloot/junkt items to them?

    Hey! I would REALLY appreciate a pause feature so I can see what cards my opponent is playing and take the time to read the effects and stuff!
    (Btw this feature is already in the game, when playing the tutorial the game will pause mid fight until you klick away the tutorial hints)

    about upgrades, i feel that investing into items makes you want to upgrade them way more, like with loot and level up rewards, or with the items that scale with things over the course of the game, like the llama or the dog. If there were less of these kind of items or they were worse it would be easier to change your build

      Open beta was supposed to launch in December but they delayed it a month to make sure their servers were more capable for the launch. They’ve still been doing updates during this time too. My guess in January!

    I think it would be really cool to have a story mode (or something like that) that explores the lore. Something like a tutorial where you choose a hero, then choose from 1 of 3+ archetypes for that hero, and then a condensed run (maybe like 4 days) where all of your options lean in towards that archetype and all of the PvP fights are designed to be generally weak but follow other archetypes. You could sprinkle in some extra lore cutscenes/voiceover and maybe offer a small reward for beating it for the first time with each hero (a hero skin, title, currency, etc.).
    I think that would be a really cool way to help new players learn how the game works, what a given hero tends to want to do, and offer a chance to get hands-on with heroes you haven't unlocked yet to help you choose who to unlock next. Whether or not all of that is feasible or worth the time investment it would take to implement is another question.

    My free to play experience has been great. I unlocked all characters in a comfortable amount of time. No complaints here. I hope the team finds a solution to upgrading that fits Reynad's vision for upgrade-light, pivot heavy gameplay

    in my 20 years of gaming i have rarely seen such potential in a game as this. get your servers ready. i truely believe this will be equal to the hearthstone or LoL hype. dont get discouraged, the community is a bit toxic rn but theyll come around once its open for everyone.
    people just went in expecting a full release from a closed beta, idk why

    This might be a personal thing, but i feel like the fight speed issue is only noticeable in the beginning. I agree with Reynad's take on it. Also, what he said about item upgrades has completed altered the way I think about the game

    Hey I love your game and would just like to leave a few suggestions regarding the gumball mechanic. It's too tedious, let me click once to start buying gumballs and click again to stop buying, also a rare double gumball mechanic would be fun like real life when you get 2 gumballs for the price of 1.

    Late to the party here with the comment but my question, how are you doing Reynad? Juggling an eSports org and developing a game is no easy task. I hope you're keeping yourself healthy happy and spending time with family as well.     I really appreciate how steadfast Reyand is with his design decisions. Like with upgrades, speed controls, flavour v mechanic etc really reassuring that there is a strong captain for this ship

      What are you talking about? The last 3 patches have been massive overhauls and impulse decisions to try and balance things with major shifts in how things work.
      IE: Removing starting skills = impulsive and flip. Significantly less shop items, expensive rerolls and no rerolls at all in some cases

    Mechanic suggestions
    - Wild card - appears after the reroll as a 4th option. Cost = 4 + Day number. Any card currently sold by vendor
    - Bazaar cards - randomly applied effect to shop cards - gem/market bonuses when on board during victories
    - A mechanic to more reliably access a second heroes shop during your run (Items owned = increase chance?).
    - Signature skill - a skill that each hero starts with.
    - Recycling bin event - Take one of three cards you previously discarded at half/quarter price. Tier upgrade skill.
    - Late game skill which gives 4 options per hour, could cost 24 + all your gold.
    - 1 event reroll per day - Does not stack.
    Pack and card
    - Undead pack - cards turn into another card after they are used x times.
    - Wind pack - Wind visual. cards use and change wind. Chance headwind slows an item increases with speed.
    - Spawning pack - triggers during fight and requires empty board space.
    - Pig town real estate pack - Small Property cards. Combine into villages. Healing, combat, and armored towns.
    - Fleet pack - Vehicles with adjacency bonuses
    - Electrician pack - Battery and wire cards connect other cards. (power siphon, parallel charging, static buildup)
    - Mining pack - Gem cards. % to mine a gem card when the card is used in combat

    I want it 2025 under my christmas tree.
    Make it chargeable with usbC and give it like a week battery life. It will just have to light up the face when it detects motion.
    Make him immobile, have the bottom wheel thingy be a suction cup to have him stick to walls maybe?
    Also have a standing version where the wheel is a weight.
    Let that version have the TP feed between his face and the wheel part. Thats all i want out of this game xD

    I think it would be cool for Vanessa to have a similiar starting item set up to dooley. Maybe different versions of her amulet that lean you towards a build. Focus upgrades on the starting item that allow you to be flexible with the build if it changes throughout your playthrough

      @thoughtpolease7183 that's why I'm saying level-up upgrades can change what the amulet does in order to flex with a build you might pivot to based on run.
      Very loose example.
      Bronze Gun Amulet - +1 Ammo to Ammo Weapons.
      Level 3 option to upgrade to
      Silver Weapon Amulet that increases crit damage on weapons
      Or silver fire Amulet to add +1 burn when you use a Weapon with burn.
      Basically the starting item would be able to evolve at certain level milestones to help builds. You can even give it a sell effect that gets better the longer you hold onto it.

      Pretty sure you can take a screencap or if you right click on one of their items on the board it will fill the screen and pause the fight

      @@PurpleDragonSpike Yeah the screenshot works but clicking requires Mm+ knowing I'm about to be oneshotted, what I'd like is a simple pause after the fight and wait for me to click "continue" before leaving.

    In general, people prefer upgrading to switching. Sticking to something instead of switching gives a feeling of continuity and development. Yes, people who strictly go by better might be unfaised by kicking out items, the casual person prefers continuity to change. And this is not only game-related.
    In this sense, people will like the game more when they have the option to upgrade without making it a losing decision.
    If you want a game-related example, where the lack of continuation ruined the game for many: Humankind

    I’m confused about how new content will be rolled out. Will you need to pay for the “10 new card packs”? Could this encourage people not to play with new items if there is a strong combination in a specific item pool…for example it might be best not to dilute my item pool with new cards.

    #19 -(28:30) YES, totally! the process of getting upgrades from re-roll is the most soul-sucking and pointless. part of this great game. in MTG and HS, upgrades just don't exist. In StS, upgrades are simply a 2-tier a limited resource to spend strategically - which is a great implementation and offer true strategic decision making. I love this game but I simply can't wrap my head around the 4-tier upgrade system. Nevertheless, this is an incredible game! Looking forward to patches and content.

      Upgrades were fine until they destroyed shops and rerolls. you use to be able to reliably get them.....
      The biggest problem is that you can't always tell wtf is going to happen with an upgrade, enchant, etc.
      The UI is a half assed system that doesn't interact well with other things like this.

    Don't waste your time with this game at all in its current state. Its P2W unbalanced trash. The game is 100% RNG based with 0 skill or strategy involved. One character, specifically Dooley, is so overpowered you can literally have any combination of weapons/items and instantly get a flawless 10 win victory. If you are gifted a friend code for the game, you will NEVER be able to play any other character than the nerfed into the ground weak as hell Vanessa (the only character the devs feel like nerfing when she does well) forcing you to be cannon fodder to the people who paid for the game. You need 500 cash shop coins to unlock a character, you have to play ranked to earn coins, you can only play ranked ONCE per day for free, otherwise it costs $$$$$$$$ to continue playing ranked. If you don't get at least 4 wins, you don't get ANY rewards for playing ranked. If you don't play Dooley, you won't win in Ranked. See where this is going? Vanessa had 1 singular item that was slightly overpowered and allowed her to secure wins, the devs responded by deleting that item from the game entirely. Dooley literally cannot be beaten by any other character right now, and the devs said that "No more balance changes are coming until release" which is still MONTHS away at this time. They are going to use this time to FOMO the people who where gifted a friend pass into spending $$$$$$$$$$$ before they jack the prices up on characters from 500 gems to 2000 gems ($20 per character)
