Heavy Feeding corals and fish? {Chubby but Happy}

- Different reefers have different preference in terms of what to feed and how to feed our tanks. This is what has been working really well for me! I feed heavy, and it was built up to this amount slowly. If I overfeed I would still get a nice little algae bloom for a week or so.
My preferred quick feeding is with Ocean Nutrition's Prime Reef Flake; for frozen I like LRS Reef Frenzy; for powder coral food I like PolypLab Reef-Roids; and for broadcast feeding I am a HUGE fan of Reef Nutrition's line of products.

You have a very beautiful tank. I appreciate how honest you are about everything. If you blow it, you admit it. Take care and thanks for sharing.😊
instablaster.
Great video. Thanks for the products you used. Love the humor in these videos as well.
Good stuff IR! Great job on simplifying a complicated topic.
That was a great break down on how you feed! I am actually going out today now to my Local Reef Store to pick up some of the foods you mentioned. Thanks for the info!
Awesome, would be great to see a follow-up on how your tank inhabitants like them
Awesome
Great video as always. Tanks looking great 👍🏻.
You are awesome man,I enjoy pretty much all your videos.
Thank you Oscar =)
Love your videos. Thank you 🙏🏼
I love your videos. I just can’t wait for a new video every Sunday 👍🏼
Thank you for watching Jose!
Think this was one of the first few videos of yours I watched, remember seeing your frogspawn and being blown away. Euphilyas down in FL are so expensive(I don't understand why...but then again seems like most corals are nowadays) but getting 1-2 heads can cost $100-$200, so see you with a colony was shocking. I've never used pods/phyto/oyster feast before, but going to add some pods to my 2 frag tanks just to keep the tank mature and strong and your video popped up, and thought let's revisit the past. Hope all is well and that things with the new tank are going in a positive direction!
Dude thanks for your feeding guide. 👍👊😎
👊👍
love the clownfish
Gorgeous tank
Beautiful tank!
IR, you nuts :) Thanks for the feeding video!
Raising freshwater fish, having spawned and raised many for 43 years. Still running 9 tanks. Into Reef keeping now for 3 years. Running 5 tanks.
Various configurations. From all-in-ones to HOB.
Have used and evaluated most all foods and products. Sure, a lot is personal choice, but a huge amount is marketing for equipment, foods, supplements etc. if only I had time and I could learn how to UA-cam!
Sir, I think it's time to start putting some videos up on UA-cam... just run and gun from a cell phone works fine for a lot of people. Sounds like you have a lot of great personal experience to share!
Very informative! I'm looking into turning my FOWLR into a reef tank and was curious about the feeding and nutrition needs for the corals.
Awesome to hear! You really don't need all these much... if I have to pick the minimum, I'd go with Reef-Roids powder for corals and LRS Reef Frenzy for corals with larger mouth, anemone, and your fish to start off. Reef Nutrition Phyto if you end up picking up a clam. Everything else is icing on the cake.
@@InappropriateReefer I will do that. Thanks so much!
Omg that giant frogspawn in epic!!!
Reef nutrition is very very good i use phyto feast and tiger pods for my mixed reef 40 gallon.
Great video
I got wild goji a week ago and my Talbots damsel loves it. I was feeding him the new life spectrum pellets and he liked those but he goes crazy for the wild goji. But I don’t like the inconsistent pellet size of wild Goji
the video ive been waiting forrrrrrrrr!!!!!!
I live in Hong Kong and I swear you’re from Hong Kong. Lovin it. Just the way you speak. It’s a dead giveaway.
I know this is an old video… just wanted to say I love your content, and I am subscribed!
But that being said you always do a great job!
Your corals eat well 👍 I think the teddy bears talked, scary! ....
I had a hard time finding reef nutrition at lfs. Was looking for phyto for nems
wow your corals look great.
Always entertaining.
Brightwell has to xcellent liquid phytoplankton coral foods. But oyster feast is great to add to a mix of food you make up. Bulk flakes and other foods from YourFishStuff are great. Especially the spirulina and FD mysis.
Thank you for the recommendation, I will look into them as well! More diversity of good food never hurts, figure feeding the same thing day in and day out may get boring for fish too. ;-)
#1 I love your videos very helpful.
#2 what size tank is this ? Where did you get it? Heavy feeding coral.
Thank you keep up the great work
Love the new little clownfish!!!
Little dude is quickly capturing my heart too!
Great video bro 👊 the tanks are looking great 👌 reef nutrition has some awesome products. The clam is looking really good 👍
Thanks man! I'm definitely a big fan of Reef Nutrition line of products! Clam benefited. ;-)
new subscriber to your channel awesome videos great content
ocean nutrition is best food my fish love it
I was taught not to feed a lot and after years I am learning this is not exactly right. I have doubled my feed the last month and dosing nitrates. My tank has never looked better and my fish are fat. The main thing is I keep an eye on my phosphates more than ever and all is good.
BINGO.
Excellent content. Seeing your sexy shrimp makes me miss my 2. I sold them with the Yuma tree. Not actually a tree but about 15 green & purple Yumas growing on some branch rock
Thanks man! I’m seriously considering kicking the Sexy Shrimps out, they’re really bugging the corals 😅
Hi ya thought I would update you on the Refugium I copied from your videos. Doing great and I’m growing cheato like a boss it’s going crazy. Once again thank you for the great videos and inspiration.
Awesome to hear! Wish you continued success!
I recommend testing phosphate and nitrate after feeding while adapting the tank to these feeding methods.
Hikari spirulina plus anything frozen makes fish nuts and gives most nutrition. But should have varied foods.
Nice tank! Tanks for the precious advice. What is the crab type at 7:00 please?
Awesome video
Thank you!
@@InappropriateReefer quick question. Can you cut down your return line to lower your locline. Sorry everytime I see it it drives me crazy lol
Goji works well! Tastes Good too.
Did you... try it?! 🤔🤔🤔
Waiting for my sticker/magnet from you Inappropriate Reefer ;)
Lol that clam 😂
Just a tad camera shy.. 😅
Love the dendros. Mine would never come out and eventually died! Also curoius with all this feeding how do y our keep your nitrates at 0?
Mastik and American reef HD prime are great but pricey.
Only just found your channel on you tube! Love watching all your videos so helpful and i always look forward to your next ones ! Love your tank its awesome. Are your clownfishes Picasso's?
Best greetings from UK!
Welcome to the channel! These are Mocha DaVinci clowns from Sea & Reef
@@InappropriateReefer Thank you!
Great video, I love the different combination of foods. I have a question, any recommendations for getting rid of turf algae?
Thanks man; I have not had to fight turf algae before so unfortunately don't have a proven solution for this (unless you meant Green Hair Algae? Then I have some EXP), maybe someone else with personal experience could chime in?
I have algae problem too. Funny, I just tested: NO3=0, PO=0 yet algae, dino, diatoms= 💥💣💥. It's got me miffed LOL
Aaron Bartell Hand removed or siphon it If your aquarium it’s kind of new stop doing water changes for a while and let it be so it exhaust the phosphates of the water column but if you have dinoflagellates I started dosing phosphates and nitrates and it did the trick for me but you have to identify the type of Dino you have first
Aaron Bartell And cut down on your feeding
@@yadieldiaz6395 Thank you for the tips Yadiel! It maybe something else in my case, here's why: Tank is 2 yrs old/I've been feeding just enuff to keep fish alive, almost no feeding for corals/I've let the grows run their course, but not when coral being overrun. I think: My white spec. lighting maybe turned too high, going to shift more blue.
Your frogspawn look amazing in every video, I just got two of them and I can’t get them to stay open or open all the way, do you have any good tips on what I should do for my frogspawn? I have tried no flow high flow low flow and it won’t open, I am currently trying to get my phosphates down they are at 0.20 right now
I was curious whats this song in the background i just wanna listen to it while im working on my reef 😊
Is your tank a aio or is that a overflow you added in the corner of your tank? Also how did you rock scape your tank
How long do you let the phyto stay in your aquarium before turning on your return and skimmer?
Just curious what your light schedule is? I be a similar size tank and feel like I don’t have the lighting schedule right
Lmao bob the aptasia I should name mine too
when you are dosing the reef how is this effecting your No3 and Po4?
What are the food products u just mention? An u add names or links pls
Do you find the oyster feast is very bouyant? I mix it with reef roids and it wants to float to the top but when I dont use it that dosnt happen! I wish I could find this reef nutrition in a bottle locally. None of my LFS carry it and dont want to pay to ship live food or refrigerated food! I like that its in the big bottle and not the little squares with foil backs!
Tbh I like this style of video better
Ironically this is way quicker / easier than the vlog style videos 😂👍
@@InappropriateReefer well either way keep them coming😍
Have these reef nutrition products been discontinued? I’ve looked for then to purchase everywhere and can’t find it
What do you call those zoas right underneath your mini maximum anemone? I've got the same ones, they're great
I love bob😅
But, beatiful reef's! 👏🏻🇧🇷
Hello my Friend I must say have made top video And have a very nice Aquarium
Can you explain to me how you made your jumping protection
Sincerely from Germany
Hi my friend, it is a D&D DIY screen top, the kit gives all the parts and I cut it to fit. There are a lot of different brands out there and they all work well. The D&D one sits inside the lip of the tank so it's a bit cleaner looking.
Really cool! What kind of clam do you have?
It's a $50 Dereas Clam from PetCo =)
how many times a day do you feed the flakes?
Nice tank. why do you have a aiptasia for a pet.. if you don't mind me asking. Thanks for the feeding video
Just thought he’d make an unique pet 😊 Got fish to pick off the baby Aiptasias so I kept him
Unfortunately this stuff is impossible to find. Ordering from their website is $25 in shipping
U use chiller ?
Does the anemone sting the other corals ????
Is it better to turn off the wave makers for feeding?
Depends on what you’re feeding I think; if you’re target feeding corals, definitely helps 👍
My clownfish only swims at the top of the tank. It looks like he is floating. Do you know what i can do about this?
How far up is the aqaknight light from the water and the sand on the 10g?
Around 3” or so, I’m using the included mount
I have a question for any one who might know the answer, is each polyp in a coral colony responsible for its own nutrition or can one specific polyp share nutrients? For example, I feed a duncan colony mysis, I miss a polyp or 2....are those polyps "going hungry" (besides the nutrition from zooxanthellae) ????
From my understanding, if there is tissue connecting the polyps, then the energy will be shared; otherwise they are stand alone. 🤔
Today we are going to talk about feeding! I see those Cheezits at 0:05
Will you be in Aquashella Chicago? I see so many FishTubers names there but not yours!
Most likely won’t be able to make it, for a good reason though, will share when it gets closer 😉🐖
I'm trying to find a video you made recently of someone adding amino acid into their tank. Where can I find that video??
Hmm, is it dosing AquaVitro Fuel? PolyPab’s Color and also LPS Power are all contain amino acid; I’m currently using Fuel
@@InappropriateReefer do you remember which video it was???
Nooo, bro! What happened to the Black storms ? ☹️ 🇧🇷
My clam is not opening what can i do its a maxima pls help me
Do you keep the reef nutrients refrigerated?
Yes sir, they should be refrigerated (except for maybe the pods? That I am not sure)
Sup brb
A giant aiptasia on the front left corner?
Yes sir, that's Mr. Bob
@@InappropriateReefer Just curious how do you manage to keep it under control? I just left one in my tank, and now causing me lots of trouble. I tried to use ELIMI-AIPTAS redsea Aiptasia X to kill it but it still multiplies.
Why do you purposely keep an Aptasia in the corner of your tank?
Never gotten around to scrap him off the glass and his babies always get picked off by certain fish (prob the Filefish), so I just left him and named him Bob 😂
whats up everybody, i recently bought 2 small (half inch or so) clown fish, and they wont eat, i tried the flakes i bought, then the frozen foods that the pet store was feeding them, and they still wont eat, got any tips
No worries, some clowns take a few days of settling in before taking food. I’ve had some that just picked at but spit out food for a week. Can try some live brine or live black worm to entice feeding response if worried
I LIKE EM ROUND THICK AND JUICY
I’m back
Welcome back!
What size is that tank?
45g here
Is that tape over your laptop camera? Mom, is that you? ;)
Hey son, come back in, it's time for dinner! =D
What size tank?
45g here
Bro contact eco tech and get that fan fixed 😂
I tried 😂😂😂
I believe I saw a pest anemone at the front left corner of the tank
hi
Watch a u tuber AmroAzul tv, Forget what you know about feeding corals. May change your mind about what you feed your tank, some good info.
Will check him out, thank you for the recommendation! 👍
Aiptasia Bob
I feed my 40 breeder more than this. If I don’t my nutrients hit 0, my phosphates are .04-.06 most the time
hello friend I want you to help me with my tank I am in newar nj
你会中文吗?
