That wasn’t a fair comparison between T-Mobile and AT&T. Yes AT&T fiber is a lot faster. But it is very limited on where you can get it. T-Mobile on the other hand has more availability for people. The comparisons should’ve been between AT&T DSL versus T-Mobile that is a better comparison.

AT&T DSL is trash dude. If I didn’t have Spectrum (Thank God I do) I would be T-Mobile target demographic. Also I’m not sure her AT&T DSL prices and plans she shows are correct. Our AT&T DSL is 6mpbs called “Internet Basic 6”. I’m 99% sure DSL can barely top of 20-30 mbps so I don’t see how it could get 100.

This lady has never had to deal with at&t my speeds were reduced from 100 Mbps to 75 Mbps and on top of that my bill was increased from $120 to $144. Oh I almost forgot to mention they force you to have cable and internet together. Plus i have to pay rental on the equipment. So thanks to TMobile home internet we are saving a ton of $$$$ and the speeds that we get from T-Mobile are 178 Mbps the lowest.

I have an old DSL account with AT&T I signed up for in February 2006 after I dropped my 56k dial-up service with Bell South which was later purchased by AT&T. My old DSL account which I still have is DSL Lite at 6.0 Mbps and costs $55.00 a month. Fiber is not available in my area yet but I can upgrade to a faster copper wired service with AT&T called AT&T Internet 50 offering 50 Mbps for $55.00 a month. Should I upgrade to AT&T's Internet 50 now or wait for fiber to come to my area? I'm a senior citizen, I'm not into gaming, I do research on the web; spend a lot of time on UA-cam; do some email and some Twitter.

My DSL. 30 Mbps. Just got T Mobile. 250 to 450 Mbps. ATT just went to $ 70 for my 30 speed. T Mobile $ 50 lifetime lock. I’m cancelling DSL.
Updated May 2023. Just added T Mobile Cell. My internet cost dropped to $ 30. Wow. I’m giddy.
    Even more relevant.
I took the 55 plus Magenta Max plan. Cost is $ 90 for 2 lines, unlimited. Plus the Netflix HD 2 screen (would cost $ 21.99 month, and Apple TV (would be $ 6.99 month). Traded in an older iPhone XS Max for the $ 800 credit. My wife used it for the iPhone 14 Pro Max. Here’s how it really worked. I went to the corporate store. I gave them my XS Max. They gave me an instant trade in credit of $ 130. I was nervous signing a form that I agreed to a trade in of $ 130. This was applied to sales tax, activation fee, misc purchases. The other $ 670 is in the form of monthly credits. I went home, pulled up my account, and my account immediately showed a monthly credit of about $ 28 month.
The complaints seem to be people trading their phones in by mail, or to a non corporate store. That’s were things go wrong.

  • @Timzart7
    @Timzart7 3 роки тому +1

Because I'm in the 40% of rural American internet users, few who have fiber availability, I wasn't aware AT&T prices for fiber and DSL were so good, at least for one year. After that, I looked it up and in the second year prices are raised by $10 to $20/month or possibly more if you're not bundled. But still, for a year, that's a great deal and if there's no high start-up fee or other restrictions, if that's available, going with that for one year anyway seems like an easy decision.
The availability of 5G home internet, like T mobile home internet, or Verizon home interent, or AT&T, is going to help drive prices down even more in a year or two. I like that the speed for T mobile home internet connections you mention people can expect is between 25 and 100 download, and that the stability and reliability are going to be much more of a sure thing on DSL or fiber. That is keeping it real.
There are some videos on UA-cam of people showing their speed on T mobile home internet of 200 to 500Mbps, like that is going to be available to most people, and it isn't. They are close to a tower, as in less than a mile away, under good conditions, like not too many obstructions and/or no interference from other towers. As more people get phones with 5G ability, it will be easier for people to see how a service like T mobile home internet 5G will work in their homes, by doing a speed test using a friend's 5G phone that has that service you're interested in.
It can be possible for people in cities especially, to have more than one home internet cellular 5G service available, and one might be glitchy and hard to get 10 Mbps, while the other you can get over 400, and it is stable, meaning no service disruptions or lagging. So there are other things besides price considerations and advertised speed range. That is, how to works at your actual location.
One bonus of 5G home internet is that there is a very real possibility of seeing higher speeds at no extra cost in coming years, as their transceivers and antennas improve and they upgrade them. That just does not happen on DSL. They'll just leave you stuck at whatever speed you start at with them, and paying the same high price. T mobile home internet's current $50/month is no contract, no taxes or fees, and no price hikes, no set up fee or equipment rental fee. And you don't have to be bundled or have a T mobile phone. That combination to me is winning. So I have over 10x the average download and upload speeds that I had on CenturyLink DSL, and I pay $5 more per month.
One person I read of that quit their fast cable service and did T mobile home internet for a few months, but decided to go back to cable, they gave him a price break on his high speed (500Mbps) cable service at $20/month for one year. He had been paying $110/month for several years. Companies are going to be more flexible in this way. Because his cable is so cheap for one year, he's keeping both services but if T mobile works as well as it has for him very recently, he'll just ditch the cable when the year is up.

That being said, I am a new customer and will see if the honeymoon phase ends the longer I have a service lol. The T-Mobile gateways are definitely locked down but there are some hacks you can do to separate the 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz bands and also you need to understand your cellular metrics and how to get the best service from the primary LTE and secondary 5G bands. For example, LTE b66 and 5G n41 are the best bands for T-Mobile gateway, At least in my area. these are the ultra wide and extended bands for the T-Mobile 5G aggregated service in my area.

AT&T is total crap. AT&T will give you fixed wireless internet and then load up the tower so that your speeds are pathetically slow and then do nothing about it when you complain to them or even the FCC. AT&T fiber is really only available in cities and the low hanging fruit places; if you are a rural customer, they don't give a crap about you. Their customer service is also hot garbage. Also another fact that this video doesn't mention is that AT&T won't give DSL service to new customers, they have phased it out. You can only have AT&T DSL if you already have it, as soon as you cancel it or change to another service, you can't go back. When I got AT&T fixed wireless about 4 years ago ("upgraded" from DSL), they promised a minimum of 10 down and 1 up. For the first 6-12 months, this held up, even exceeding 10 down. Then the bottom fell out. By the time I cancelled it I was getting between 1-3 down and 300kb up. I got T-mobile home internet back in November and I get between 30-60 down and 3 up. Unless you can get AT&T fiber, any other option is better with exception of satellite internet. I think the most insulting thing I learned from that video is that AT&T is charging rural customers $60-$70 for crap internet while giving urban, fiber users, great internet for half the price. To add further insult to injury, AT&T caps fixed wireless data to 350GB/mo and charged a $10 overage fee for each additional 50GB, so if they actually manage to give you a decent speed, you'll be paying more even month for going over.

I have an old DSL account which I've had since February 2006 which AT&T no longer sells, it's called DSL Lite and is rated at 6.0 mbps. If I wanted to upgrade to something better with AT&T now it would be a fiber optics plan since DSL is no longer being offered to new customers and the fastest speed available in my area for fiber optic service with AT&T here in coastal Mississippi is 50mbps at a cost of $55.00 a month I haven't decided to upgrade yet. C-Spire which is a cell phone company just finished installing fiber optic cable in my neighborhood under ground. Are you 100% sure that 50 Mbps from AT&T is actually fiber? To my knowledge, they never offered that slow of a speed over fiber. I think the slowest was 100 Mbps, but may be wrong. In areas where there's no AT&T fiber internet, they run fiber to their cabinets and then copper to your home so it isn't true fiber internet.

Here's what it says on AT&T's website when I typed in my current home address as to what level of internet service I could upgrade to:
      Internet 50

      Speeds up to 50Mbps

They both suck unless it’s AT&T fiber and it’s not even widely available. This is from someone who has worked for both AT&T and T-Mobile

I cancel my AT&T home internet over a month ago. Have all receipts from UPS where I sent equipment back. They are trying to charge me over $600 for early termination. When I was with them for 19 years, don't trust them.

Absolutely horrible review. Please read your own screen shots. T-Mobile is honest with NO Equipment fees and the taxes are rolled into the $50 price. ATT charges for their equipment and adds taxes. For goodness sakes your screen shots for T Mobile says NO Equipment fees and ATT days equipment fees. I just dropped ATT for T Mobile.
