Bit weird you don't use naval units for this level or Rivals, but judging from AW:DS's later levels, maybe that's for the best.
Note: You are graded on Orange Star's army performance, nothing else! Andy is the one that needs to get 5+ kills for power, and lose less than 20% of his units! As such, you can suicide/bait BM and GE/YC troops as much as you want, like in the Advance Campaign.
A doozy of a final level. Try to bait Sturms COP (only 50k funds in this game, unlike AW2s 90k funds needed!) using whatever isn't necessary at the time. Early on, BMs indirects are great for clearing out Sturms air units, but once that's done, they lose their effectiveness due to how long it takes them to move to the top. Grit is a special case due to his indirects having 1 more range base, and 3 extra during his COP, which can help clear out anti-air units or other priority targets in Sturm's base before sending your air units in, or making him waste funds by building fighters and bombers in range of Grit's missile units.
If any priority units are threatened, you can always use APCs and T-copters to dissuade Sturm from attacking them. Since BM and YC/GE units don't count for technique, you can freely use their units as bait and still get a 999.
To get specific COs for this level, do the following:
Blue Moon:
Olaf: Choose Andy on mission 4, and complete Olaf's Sea Strike (routing Olaf's navy on mission 6 to get to it), and you'll get Olaf as your BM CO.
Max: Choose Andy on mission 4 and DON'T rout Olaf on mission 6 to avoid Olaf's Sea Strike.
Grit: Choose Max on mission 4.
Green Earth/Yellow Comet:
Sami: Don't use Andy/Sami for all 4 Green Earth missions (15-18)
Drake: Use Andy for all 4 Green Earth Missions(15-18, you might not need to pick Andy for Wings of Victory(17), but I didn't bother to test if that was true or not!)
Kanbei: Complete all of the Kanbei levels within 8/10/12 turns respectively, to get to Sonja's missions. Replaces Sami/Drake!
Eagle: Use Sami for all 4 Green Earth Missions(15-18, unlocks mission 22, Rivals!). Highest priority for replacing Sami/Drake/Kanbei!

We all know the best counter against heavy tanks is having 15 anti airs on the field!
I saw a PVP 3v1 mod of this level fight to a draw, though they did replace Andy with Kanbei. Sturm's terrible defense kept him from building up enough steam to continue any breaks, and the meteors were more annoying than anything since 3 players could divert them so easily.
Jokes on you, I allowed him waste money on bombers in the range of my missiles at the airport near my base.

Well to be fair, Eagle was under the assumption that Orange Star was going around attacking all the Islands for no valid reason.

I always wondered why Sturm in this game would build so many Anti-Airs...
Because they thinked in rivals and you know what that means.
With hindsight on the series, it's kinda weird that this largely pre-deployed campaign was ended with a massive base-filled slugfest with three co-operating COs (when so far you've only had one CO at a time from a selection of three).
At the time, though, I can almost understand the series of decisions that led to IS implementing this final battle. Especially following on from the Wars games that had relatively unimpactful COs.
i mean; in a sense of having a 3v1 you can understand that Blue Moon, Orange Star, Green Earth, and Yellow Comet not only want to take down a person hell bent on world domination; but also revenge for the trickery that Black Hole did to them.
Generic boss or not..sturm just makes you feel helpless
for one his units don't suffer terrain penalties and his CO power just breaks the games difficulty
Trying to S rank this is indeed a nightmare
If you thought Sturm was bad, at least he's not Caulder levels who was actually banned in wi-fi mode from Days of Ruin because of how much stronger he was.

@@XcZeus3469 Caulder is Tabitha on steroids, and she's already busted to begin with. Even though he doesn't have CO Power, his healing-passive is very effective on him. But, final boss is SUPPOSED to be broken, and if you want them to be playable, either in singleplayer of multiplayer, you could nerf/rebalance them, just like they did to AW1 Sturm.
But hey, I'll take extremely difficulty but still possible to defeat boss that is satisfactory to beat, over whatever they've done to Von Bolt.
The world record is 7 days... my record 9 days.

Man, tbh the only tedious part of this game is that it doesn't have a level selection, so I had to go back to the first level again after I realized I can use other COs other than Max and Sami...

That's one of two things I'm hoping re-boot camp addresses. Days of Ruin did two things I think everybody can get on board with in its campaign - mission select so you can do them over again at any time and rankings that can go above 300 and even allow you to compensate scores so you can win in multiple ways. Your power rating might only hit 70 but if you finished by day nine your speed rating could hit something like 160 to make up for that.
You're a true master! You move your units so quickly it seems you're one with the interface... I have a question: are you playing the NA or the EU version? I'm playing the EU version (in spanish).
I'm still stuck in Mission 20... Am I too much of a perfectionist to try to use your guide while playing in order to get S-rank? I don't know if there's a special reward for getting S-rank in every mission in Campaign mode, and I'm tired of getting my stack blown almost every time I try a mission (sometimes I'm so mad I stop playing for weeks, as if that would help me clear my thoughts).
The USA release, and I don't believe there's any unlocks for S-ranking the campaigns, only beating them. The guides are just there to help if people need it. All respect to people who want to figure out the S-Ranks themselves

Just played this level for the first time, and oh god, how did I win? I completely misplayed the beginning, not realizing that I was supposed to bring all of Grit's stuff through the bottom road so that he could help defend Andy. Andy got totally wrecked and was hanging by a thread for most of the game (they were even trying to capture my HQ at one point), and he had the most pathetic income. It was only through copious infantry spam by Sami that I was able to gradually push them back. I never even got a C rank before this, but I ended up with a D. I think it took me over 33 days...
Also, baiting the meteor with a giant cluster of mechs and a Missile at the bottom-left? Genius. I kept clumping up my main force because I couldn't figure out anything else and just tried to tank the meteor as best I could.
grit+sami is torture already
I managed to figure out that I could swarm the field with Mechs+APCs and then focused on capturing as many properties as possible with Grit. Took me 30 turns but I had him surrounded with Mechs and Rockets. Nice to see a better strategy huh lol
I eventually figured out how to divert the meteor strike, but i think the fricking bot got in my head so much that even if i knew how to make sure to keep it away from the main forces, i forgotni could just clump up a massive army far from any fighting. Still, my first time beating it, i got a B. It was fun.
Also, i know this is a "one dictator vs a united force of other countries" ... (sounds kinda familiar...) but it feels weird how we have Grit rather than Max. Don't get me wrong, I love Grit, but Andy and Sami are already on the field, with Sami having help from Drake for Green Earth rep. Why not Max? I was thinking like Max helping Grit, but those two synergize way too much to be balanced lol

I forgot that Sturm looked like such a goofball in the first one. He's so cool in 2.

It depends on the CO you get based on campaign choices, which I provided in the description. Max is actually the best pick on Blue Moon since he can basically single handedly win, speedrun style(though Andy is still the army graded for score!)
honestly i just stopped playing at this stage
so lame how you have to win with gimmicky strats that its mostly just exploiting the A.I and thats not fun
Idk why but my COs are andy, max and sami... Its totally different and idk how to win the game especially when sturm use his power on max's tanks... Hope that you can help me😥
How you got the cos are in his video description, and if u dont mind the rank, try and bait his meteor with either Sami or Andy's units, and make sure Max's units are well-spaced to avoid sturm's aggro. I think neoseeker.com or reddit has most of the help you need to ace this mission if your interested
Some parts of the game requires you to choose between 3 missions and each has a different CO to play as. Depending on which mission you choose in those sections, it alters what other two COs you get in The Final Battle
The first time i beat the game was with sammi on the right... i explain how i make it. I was deploying infantry and mech then i raid the area of sturm with wave after wave of infantry, even when he use is meteor strike the power goes directly to infantry and mech wich are very cheap, is troops where busy with them and leave mostly of my most powerfull units alone.
In the description, I have a guide on which CO you'll get for the level based on campaign choices, but I might redo this level at some time in the future with the base COs, and the WR has Max on the left, and can pretty much be done with any Green Earth slot Co
The way the player keeps selecting and cancelling 3 times before making a move is particularly annoying.

When I was in 3rd grade, I stayed home from school one day. It was just after we had moved houses, so there was barely anything unpacked yet and the furniture was stacked in different places. My mom was sick too so she was in her room reading and resting. I shared this GBA with my brother, and he probably was upset that I went and beat the game without him, but I remember the feeling of squeaking through this mission with a C Rank. It was a hard slugfest, but somehow my 8 year old self managed to pull it out. I am amazed that you make such light work of it. I never would have thought building infantry, mechs, APCs, and T-Copters was the right play. Seeing you dismantle Sturm brings back a lot of good memories. Thank you.
I seriously forgot how much sturm goes insane with AA. Like...dude maybe if you picked some other units you'd fair better than another 3 missiles
Can someone help me how to beat Chapter 21 video with Andy, Grit, and Kanbei that I got, I'm sorry I didn't have Eagle in this level without Eagle then my life has been screwed due to being AW newbie like please asked for help.
This is the wrong set up tho, in my game its the same red guy , the sniper range guy and the yellow one , why is it so different for me ???
It changes depending on previous things you did during the campaign. You can look up a guide to see all the possibilities.

How to get s rank with kambei and Grit
Use Kanbei like you would Max, with MD tank spam from the side and targeting Sturm's HQ, but keep an eye on Sturm's power meter since Kanbei's units count as 20% more expensive for it's targeting!
Grit's there to shoot down the early air units and priority land units in the middle, then you just use his units to bait the meteor away from Andy(if you still need a power turn) or Kanbei. You can then send a missile up to target Sturm's left airport, or let him capture Andy's airport and keep a grit missile targeting it for an easy cheese while Kanbei either captures the HQ or wipes the floor with Sturms units.
If you'd like, you can spam artillery with Grit near the top to help out Kanbei, just make sure you have enough units to bait the meteor away from Kanbei/Andy advancing on Sturm.
I have different COs in this battle. Why?
The choices you make during the campaign affect the blue and yellow/green COs you have in the final battle. I will give you one example. If you select Max during all Grit's missions, your blue commander will be Max. If you select Andy at least once, there will be Grit or Olaf, if you beat his navy in one mission, I don't remember it's number
same, i have sami in the green place, without plane, cazas, or helicopter :(

Lol. I only managed to beat this level once and it took me about 50 in game days and 3 days in real life.. Never able to do it again..
I didn't get Eagle instead I got Kanbei, I'm sorry I'm an Advance Wars Noob Player and that's why I didn't achieve the Green Earth Leader.
