I think the scariest part of this video is actually the ending, the "The End" screen appears to show... something? Although its unclear what it is exactly, just like what Mario saw in the castle. The music is also relatively upbeat, although a little distorted, and at the end, as the CRT starts to de-sync, we hear Mario screaming, crying for help, as if he's lost someone extremely important to him, which is a sound _so emotional_ that we've never really heard from Mario before. It really gives off the sense that something is horrifyingly wrong.
I can explain what's in there, its a Mario suit, mario-a-thon edited, and they added a crying child and they put an half life 2 scream (i think)

This is by far one of the best Mario 64 creepy videos I've ever seen, I love how you used the scariest level and song from the game, and if I had seen this a few years ago as a kid, I probably would've never touched the game ago
I recently went through all of these again after i saw the trailer for the last one. Watching this one with the context of the promo show one makes this one even scarier now. Luigi drowned and now here's his body within the flooded village. It just adds to the eeriness of the place.

Edit: This is the background I am talking about, Mario swims next to the Courtyard statue hears boos and is teleported to a game over. Bowser teleported Mario to the Underwater town to squish him with some blocks. Luigi in the center of the Underwater town tells us something about a flood that could be why the Courtyard statue is in water and why Boos surround it.
@@weddingcoder5988 The error messages probably mean something, probably some sort of code. Hopefully someone comes along and figures them out. Also, as ‘every copy is personalized,’ we have to take into account that each of these videos are from different people, the first two from Greenio himself and this and the last being from GlitchyYellow64. Also, the way some of the descriptions are written it seems as if a bit of fictional research has been done on the game, so if Greenio wanted it could be interesting if their was a fictional discord server or something where one channel would just be the ‘official characters’ talking and dropping more clues/info.
Maybe Wet Dry World is his coffin.

Here is the story of these tapes as I see them:
05.11.96: Mario's brother Luigi is dead, and he searches the castle to find Luigi's body. He encounters the Wario Apparition, who shows him old photographs that may or may not have some significance.
03.11.97: As Mario continues searching, he remembers the flood that killed Luigi. He goes to one of the only places with water in it, (aside from the front yard of the castle) being the courtyard. He swims around, looking for his body, and feels a ghostly energy, and is reminded of his time with Luigi in the sky.
30.05.97: Because of this, Mario concludes that perhaps Luigi's body is in the sky, and attempts to go to the final Bowser painting, Bowser In the Sky. However, Luigi, knowing what Bowser will do to Mario, attempts to stop Mario from jumping into the painting, and teleports him away from the painting. Luigi's efforts are proven no use, as Mario makes his way into the painting. There, in the sky, Bowser teleports mario into some kind of chamber which crushes Mario to death, killing him. He then ascends to heaven, as seen in the end image.
09.02.97: Mario enters heaven, which has a copy of the mortal realm placed in heaven. Mario goes to Luigi's "coffin" being Wet Dry World, and reunites with his brother.

Okay this was REALLY creepy! PLUS it reminded me that I used to have these really disturbing reoccurring dreams/nightmares of Super Mario 64’s castle 😳😳😳 - I’m just a tad bit concerned that watching this is going to trigger them again 😢
This is exactly what it looks like as I try to recall when I was playing these games as a kid.
I like the Japanese voices. The “Nintendo Fun is infinite” and the error code, makes the game look like it truly was an “unique experience” experiment by Nintendo. The AI wasn’t perfect and it leads to graphical errors and mismatch of events that unintentionally creates an unsettling experience. The team scrapped the whole “unique” idea and released the game we know today. However, some of the old source code was left in which creates the little differences between the copies that we talk about today.
The error code rather than a decoded message was supposed to be the seed of the unique group of events. You know, like a Minecraft world seed. That seed was supposed to be reported to the developers during the beta so they can examine it.
I like this explanation the best probably. The ones I like to make are way more for "fun" and I tend to get really silly with stuff like "they discovered an occult ritual and used its supernatural power to create a super advanced video game that now has a mind of it's own and is also evil" lmao. Yours is way better haha.
