What a gorgeous place!! Just found this video! Thank you for all the great information!!
Spelling is Cuphea for what she labeled Kufia, if you're also looking for the plants/seeds.
I really enjoyed this video as I work on giving back to bees, butterflies & birds in our garden. I recently noticed hummingbirds feeding off of our cannas and carrot flowers too.
A wonderful video , going right to the point, giving lots of relevant information, excellent demonstrations,, fluent speech, best video I have seen on the internet!!
Thank you Sarah, that was exceptionally informative, and I even saw a hummingbird sit behind you for emphasis!
Agastache is so beautiful..and the butterfly bush..Dark Knight is incredible !!!!

My friend, thank you for good sharing
I don't have any feeders in my garden, but I have hummingbirds in and out all day. They love salvias.
Yes, they do! Salvias are a great option to attract hummingbirds into your garden.
Sarah, you are fantastic. Thank you for the great video, now I know what to buy for the hummingbirds which I have them in my flower garden every year.
Glad it was helpful!
Great video. Thanks.
Glad it was helpful!
With the high temperature that we in CA are getting in the summers , at least for me, it is hard to keep the plants alive, some of the do not thrive because the heat burns them 😢 it's hard for the plant to establish
Thanks
I’ll suggest planting the Vermillionaire cuphea. Hummingbirds prefer them more than other Cuphea cultivars. The flowers are larger, more dense, and likely hold more nectar.
Lobelia Cardinalis (Cardinal flowers) are another favourite for hummingbirds. I live in Zone 4 so I grow the species perennial good to Zone 3, but there are lots of Lobelia Cardinalis hybrids good to Zone 5, if you want to try those.
Your flowers look so much better than mine. They're absolutely thriving!
Mine take a beating here in southern New Mexico. Too hot, too windy, too dry. So while I do have some success, my plants don't look NEARLY as nice as yours.
Those Pentas are gorgeous! They seem to really like it in CA. I love them too but don’t seem to last for me in PA.
I'm fixing to start a flower garden and let's just say yall be praying for these poor little plants. Lol I really enjoyed this very much and learned a lot. One question..are any of these dog safe? I really liked all of them but one of my aussies likes to attack flowers sometimes. Uggg so I have to make sure it's safe. Please keep the videos coming. You are a pleasure to watch!!!
I really enjoyed this video. I live in Western New York cold winters. Do these plants only do well in warmer states?
Lantana can be extremely invasive and its very hard to get rid of in certain areas so a pot would a good place for that
Great video--very informative. I am interested in the succulent hut things hanging in the trees. Is there a video about these?
Unfortunately, there isn't a video about the Original Designs Succulent Gazebos Hanging Arrangements. These are available in-store and online: www.rogersgardens.com/collections/outdoor-planted-containers/products/455218?_kx=
👍👍
I live in southern Nevada, and would like to know more about native plants. Where can I get more information about native plants that are bird , bee,and butterfly friendly? I’m just getting started with gardening, but the hummingbirds love the autumn sage and stocks that we planted last fall in our planter boxes.
I haven't seen that beautiful pink agastache. What variety is it please?
I forgot to say that because I’m in Zone 4 in Canada, I treat the Vermillionaire as an annual plant. I’d have to do the same for the buddelia, salvia, Pentas and agastache plants. They are all warmer zone growers than here.
Cheers!
Which are good for Containers ? Hot / Sunny areas ....
Great ideas. What’s zones are the salvias in
Zones 4-6 I believe.
Millionaire plants are perfect
What type of insecticide soap can I use on my plants so the hummingbirds can still feed.
I am in zone 5
I live in Massachusetts. Do any of these plants grow in my zone?
No unfortunately not. It definitely would have helped to give growing zones in this video but it seems to be a “California “ pushed type of video lol. Most of these are treated as annuals in our zones.
@kathyhodges @ohiogardengoddess I live in MA as well… salvias, succulents agastache and Buddleia are our zone. The rest are annuals. You can grow them just let them die off and purchase again or what I do is have them in pots and bring them in before first frost and then bring back outside in spring (after last frost).
