      Kirknewton. I had cause to drive past it a few times recently. Although it's a modern art installation, it is clearly drawing inspiration from the megalithic pathways and circles of the ancients.

      There are quite a few modern circles and standing stones dotted around the UK.

      Thanking you kindly, this video has not done well, I thought it would have been more popular. I bumped into Claire from a Scottish Odyssey at this circle last Boxing Day, Martin.

    Actually I do. My husband put one up at West hills in Aberdeen. They had work to do underground and rather than just grass it over they put a small stone circle
    It's just 2 weeks old. He said it came to mind coz I take him round all the standing stones and stone circles in the uk. Away to Avebury tomorrow. Thanks for all your hard work. I wouldn't know where most of them are without your help.

      I know about Breemie Stone Circle in Aberdeenshire, it's a modern ring. Avebury is awesome, I have been lucky enough to have visited a few times. I am glad you get something out of the channel, Martin.

      @@BeforeCaledoniaNot Breemie. This one doesn't have a name as far as I know. If they name it I will let you know.

    Wow, this is great. We have a few modern ones in Wiltshire but nothing like that.

      Thanks very much! There are quite a few modern stone circles in Wales. Witlshire has plenty of the real thing like Avebury, West Kennet Long Barrow & Silbury Hill etc....

    Glad that the city funded the work to protect and move the circle! I was hoping to hear you explain the way the stones are astronomically aligned, and how the dowsing lines you found interact with the stones. A diagram perhaps?

    • @BeforeCaledonia
      @BeforeCaledonia  5 місяців тому

      You might find information online regarding the astronomical alignments. Thanks for watching and leaving a comment.

    i was standing right there with some of our school when the time capsule was planted, I wonder if someone did a video of the contents when it was unearthed in 2020? Be interesting to see the contents.

    I notice that there are extensive planting of trees nearby. Does this mean that as they mature they will interfere with the sighting of the sun at sunrise and sunset? Was this considered when the trees were planted?

    • @BeforeCaledonia
      @BeforeCaledonia  5 місяців тому

      Hi Ronnie, the new houses surrounding this site make sunrise and sunset observations near impossible. The trees you mentioned probably will get bigger, in the winter months the trees are bare of leaves which will make sky observations a bit easier.

    Thanks for publicising but its not Henge its a Circle . The original site was cleared and constructed in the middle of winter with help of the youth of YOP programme back in late 1970s. The young lads unemployed and just out of school worked with pick and shovel with poor clothing for such an outdoor task. Those men today can be proud of their part in Duncan and Johns visionary project for the City. I was their Clerk of Works .
