Card acquisition is talked about constantly and for good reason. It feels awful; worse than any game I've played. I LOVE Snap's gameplay loop, and if another game comes with something similar I could see myself jumping ship. Resources are so scarce, every time a card comes out it feels like a major decision where I need to watch youtubers analyze it before considering getting it. The number of series 5 cards relative to 4 is disgusting, given how much it roughly cost for each card. The spotlight cache system feels AWFUL! Risking 4 keys when you already own two of the other cards, to get two variants and a dupe/1K tokens it genuinely left me feeling sad one night. I've whaled out more than once, and it still feels that way! I can't imagine a low spender or f2p player.
Regarding taking a break... Forget about a few months, or even a month. There was a period of time earlier this year where I logged on every day to just do dailies and log off, and I still felt so behind when I actually started playing again. I've always said if I take any kind of break, whether my own decision or just life getting in the way, that it would probably be the end of Snap for me because of how far behind you are if you take any time away. A video game should not be like that. They always talk about how they don't want the game to 'feel bad' for players in certain regards. Well, plenty of things in the game feel bad.
Lastly, SD's greed is just more and more blatant with every decision. Every single thing they do it just feels like milking. FFS, look how expensive card borders are, for ONE card. Variants, gold, taking away the gold shop bonuses, expensive bundles, the series 5 thing. Brode said: "Imagine a game where you can't just spend hundreds of dollars and have all the cards" No Ben, instead you can spend hundreds of dollars and still not even have remotely close to all of the cards.
    Sorry for the novel.

      This truly felt
Also new cards being stupidly broken. Scorn, scream, wiccan. Etc
It feels stupid 😡 or even missing one or two cards from high tier decks will visibly struggle in meta.

My friend you worded perfectly, they need to address the card acquisition. My thing is they need for spotlight caches able for you to pick what you want to use your keys on.

What sucks with series drops is they tend to use the drops as a trash can. Good cards are always going to stay series five no matter how old they are.

I stopped spending money when I realized how little the purchases got me. For around $10-$15, I could get 1500 credits - almost enough for an infinity split. That split gives me 31 levels - about 1/4 of a key, which is 1 out of 4 chance for a new card. I’m not spending $15 bucks for 1/16 of a card, plus an obnoxious amount of useless titles and pixel portraits.

Instead they want to do both bad card acquisition and overpriced cosmetics.

Honestly it's a simple fix to all of this. Go back to the original way but with a twist. Depending on your collection level should determine which card series you pull. The higher your collection level, the higher the pull rate for a 4 series or 5 series. Meaning duplicates shouldn't exist in the spotlight cache. Honestly I feel like they should move the spotlight cash key to 100+ collection levels to earn 1 key, and that 1 key gives you a guaranteed random series 5 you don't have, with a chance of still getting the newest card that dropped. I'll rather take my chances knowing I'll get a new series 5 with a chance of getting the newest card..over a different variant of Jeff and 1000 tokens any day

Honestly SD doesn't seem to think there's a problem with card collecting and it's a shame. Honestly it's gotten so bad and greedy that I've been getting these new " just for you bundle" that's a series 4 card I don't own at 50-75$ along with avatar, boosters sometimes gold or tokens. Honestly the game is getting not fun for me just because how the devs are treating both monetization and cards.

I’m collection level 1,860, and I’m still missing like half of the series three collection. I have more variants than series three cards. With the only card packs being $50 or $60, and with specific cards being make or break for decks, it sucks. I really wish there was a better/easier way to get cards. Haven’t gotten an actual new card for two or three-ish months now.

Ben Brode thinks "İF we keep card acquisition in low rates people pay more money" while many people burned off from collection caches and terrible rng is just leaves AND once players leave returning this game so hard. This game keep runnin on fomo so you rather farm and pay or quit.I'm harvesting credits entire week and reaching to 5-7 k credits. And those credits goes to collection level and İF I'm lucky I'm getting One new cards.

  • @Simon_E32
    @Simon_E32 18 днів тому +5

I'm somewhat new to the game (started playing in June) and I'm just now able to build truly meta decks without extreme compromises. I lucked out by the grace of god to pull death, null, and x23 very early in series 3 so I could run a halfway decent destroy deck, but for a month or so after that became stale it was so hard to make interesting decks. Idk how many people would be willing to play the game for 4-5 months to have enough cards to fill out archetypes. I understand they have to make their money but man it felt really bad there for a while and I'm still like 15 cards away from being series 3 complete at 4.6k CL. I'd love to see more of those full deck kind of bundles maybe with a series 4/5 card on top for a good price but also it needs to be faster to either get keys or tokens because it takes like a month to get tokens+gold equal to 6k even with the season pass

Without a doubt, this is one of the most frustrating issues in the game.

As long as their core philosophy of "players shouldn't get all the cards" doesn't change, this card acquisition problem will just keep going and continue to bloat and bleed the game to death. It's the elephant in the room that they avoid dealing with because of eh, the eCoNomY. It's obvious that this is the root of all evil in this game (how it affects card balance, player retention, etc.)
They made it sound impartial when it comes to balance changes vs. card acquisition (re: alot of Glenn's reply in past dev answers), but the fact of the matter is that if card acquisition wasn't so difficult, balance changes would be less of an issue. No one is justified to spend money on this game if all they do is keep killing the previous hot new thing and selling the next hot new thing. Can you imagine dropping big bucks just to assemble your favorite Loki / Thanos / whatever favorite card and their fancy variants/cosmetics just for them to get nerfed to an unplayable state?

    • @SymbiSpidey

DP diner is the casual mode we need. No real "losses" on a lose or retreat, you just slow down how fast you can reach those milestones. Keeps the snap available and removes some of the feel bad of losing a bet. The biggest question mark is what if any rewards are applicable to said mode when rank mode has rewards so few n far between

    • @petarpetrov9989
      @petarpetrov9989 17 днів тому

Dude, no offense but you don't understand the psychology of people who need casual mode. Now, High Voltage is something I played more than I've ever played Snap in the last year and a half - and which finally disproved SD's excuse that they weren't providing Casual because of "technical complications". I had FUN.
DP Diner on the other hand? Just by *reading* about the experience in the Discord - I never even opened that mode in the 2 weeks it was active! It was all the sweat of Ladder with the stress multiplied several times. Yes, you can't "fall back" as in Ladder - but you get even more HEIGHTENED experience of risk and losing when all your bubs are lost and you have to wait hours to even try again.
Basically, the game unfortunately tries to attract two types of players - "gamblers" who like the Snap mechanic and LOVED DPDiner, and non-gamblers - who would rather not bother with the Snap and mostly hated Diner. There's nothing wrong to aim for dverse audience, if only Snap wasn't over-servicing the former, at the expense of the latter type of player.

One of the things that pulled me into snap was that "ranked mode" was so forgiving. I could take a new deck into ladder and have fun and experiment while my cube rate was affected less than my win rate until i found something that helped me climb. Today i play 3 decks, the best 3 decks i have (arishem and ultron for missions and and a ramp list for fun), and nothing else just so i can complete missions and get gold and keys to maybe get 1 new card which will need 4 other cards i don't have to make a competitive deck. Love the game but i just cant keep up.

    I have 5 easy suggestions.
    1. Make the weekly gold obtained 375 so at max every month you can get 2,000 gold if you hit galactic, and stay dedicated.
That allows for 1 premium skin, and 800 leftover for the tick in the 800 gold slot or whatever you desire. This wouldn't devalue gold in anyway either.
    2. Add a Rank called infinite, and beyond that gives, boosters, borders, gold, and tokens at the end of the season With increasing rewards for top 10% of players so ranked isn't useless after 90.
    3. Begone with Dupes altogether or make dupes worth 3k.
    4. Cache Tokens should vary between 250-500 .
5.Alliance races. High preforming alliances battle for rewards.

      1) Yes, more gold for players
      2) I think that's a great idea, even if it's just extra credits. After I hit Infinite, it becomes the new Proving Grounds for me where I test decks.
      3) Yes. 3k is needed.
      4) It would feel so much better even if it was 200. 100 is just sad.
      5) I'm too fat for a race :(

Thank you for explaining with Maths what we understood on an emotional level, ie that the collection track sucks. You're point about the money being in cool varients is a great point. The current game resources are so scarce I for one cannot justify spending money on shiny versions of cards I all ready have when I am saving for cards that I want. For context I have been playing since launch, I am collection level 16K+ and have all the season pass cards. With Balatro now available on phones and this new pocket Pokemon game out I'm not sure if snap is going to keep me coming back for much longer. I have no nostalgia for Pokemon but I might give it a go as Snap just isn't holding my interest anymore

Being able to play a new card every week is the best way to keep people entertained ... and all the others frustrated. So yes, of course, when there is a great card, F2P have access to it with token or spotlight. But is this enough ? I don't think so. I thought about stopping the game multiple times because I am getting bored. I agree that the season pass card needs to be great, and that it can only be accessed after the season ... But I think allowing weekly cards to be "tested" in a potential "casual mode" would be a good way to entertain all of us.

I always thought the ladder to infinite was casual mode. 🤷🏽‍♂️ I never feel the need to sweat in the game cause my only “grind” is to lvl 70 almost always. The 1 and only time I went for infinite was spider man theme season recently. I made it, it was a fun time. However I didn’t feel like everything was on the line.
People gotta stop looking at normal ladder as RANKED mode. Cause it really isn’t in my eyes. Conquest to me was ranked mode cause there is even more in stake and there are different levels to it and it’s longer. which is why I hated it. I guess, conquest just makes ranked ladder looks like not much to me.

Let's just call them complete overhauls. Get hit by the fomo bug and then in a very short time the card has lost its' value. Marvel snap will be fortunate to last another year 2 tops. Especially when games like Overpower ( originally a hero / villain) based tcg reboots. As an added bonus intellectual properties from Edgar rice burroughs. As opposed to cosmetics you can actually own the card. In addition they will be offered at a reasonable price point in comparison to the current market. I hope people give overpower a try. @michaelcastoria 17 днів тому

Yea not everyone has 300 to drop on a mobile game…. And then everyone that does would drive off everyone that doesn’t so not really as good idea this ain’t pocket.

@michaelcastoria no I'm just saying that you can drop that 300 whenever in marvel snap you can never drop 300 to get anything. You would have to spend like $20,000 probably to get every card since you can't buy them if you just started the game tomorrow.
Digital pack games are the same as in real life card games. When a new set comes out it's usually $300 to get every card in it.
Like I play Yu-Gi-Oh and it usually takes you $1,200 at least to make a meta deck buying all the Staples. 80% of the deck is really cheap but you need three copies of the rarest cards in the deck and they're usually $80 a copy. But it's risky with Yu-Gi-Oh because after 6 months it could get banned into the ground and then you'll have to spend at least to make a new deck.
Magic the gathering is much more affordable if you play in one of their formats you can spend like $1,200 and make a deck and make it forever.
You got to realize that a digital card game is the same thing as an in real life card game if you want the cards you got to spend. But with good digital card games you can get all the material to make the cards you just have to wait a long time. You're expected to pay though lake with hearthstone it would take you forever to get all the crafting material to make a deck if you're not paying.

@@michaelcastoria I tried to reply to you but UA-cam always delete my replies. I was just trying to say regardless if it's a digital game it's still a card game you got to pay for the cards. It's the same thing if you play it in real life with card packs or a digital game where you're paying for the packs comes out to be the same price. You can't buy the cards if you wanted to when you just started. Even if you spent like $10,000 you might get half of the cards you need.

They have the data, each and every card played, each and every game. They see which cards from all series 1-5. Which turn is snapped when certain cards are drawn.
Sure its probably impossible to read from one day to the next but generally speaking, why would they series drop certain cards when people will grind, save up, or pay for tokens or keys.
If they cheapen the best cards then their data and profit will spike, up & down. The only reason they will give us a handout is when they want people to stay or return. But its not that drastic yet, and wont be until people actually stop spending money and time. But why reduce prices when people stop spending money?
I remember before spotlight keys progression felt so good, i got massive amounts of gold & tokens. Also they released 4 cards a month, including the season pass. Now its 5 and reduced currencies. I stopped spending money outside of the season pass and occasional gold pass. Doesnt feel good and i still get 1-3 cards a month outside of season pass, but i have to save and wait for a specific week that i want to spend my keys or gold for token bundles, either tuesdays or very rare gold bundles.
Its a shame and as a collection level 15k i cannot imagine being a new or returning player. Dont think second dinner will change their ways unless people voice their concerns, stop spending money, or leave the game completely.

I just finished collecting series 3. I have less than half of series 4 and not much series 5. I wind up playing Arishem without Blob and Surtur without Skarr, etc. Never got Marvel Boy, Scarlet Spider, etc I'm trying to get Malekith but it looks like I won't. The game is great, except for this one issue. The whole system of spotlight keys and caches is by far the worst part of the game.

I’m dropping Snap for 1yr. 24keys, 40k tokens, 200+ reserves should get me all the meta cards for the nxt yr so idk they need another way to acquire cards or reduce the cost of cards.

The causal mode should include mastery points .

  • @АлександрЗанько-ч5ц

They also make imba cards, and then nerf them before the next imba is released. Looks like a scam for whales. In the summer I literally burped from the meta and consided as soon as I saw Arishem’s deck

Your sample size of ten collectors reserves was way to small to be making all those assumptions out of that you did. You'd need at least 1000 and should just look up the odds and calculate it out instead. The odds are required to be listed by laws outside america so I'm sure they're available from Second Dinner themselves. Great video overall!!!!

i agree with you but mobile game devs only make games to extract money from you, so there's no way they're going to change anything. If the game ends up dying, then they just make a new game thats attractive to new players and then slowly do what they've done with Snap.

The $30 bundle was just series 3 cards that were Discard synergy. SD probably would have charged $100 if Scorn was there.

I like the titles, but there are just so many. It's a cheap shitty way for them to keep adding cosmetics into caches. Titles as rewards on the season pass track or new game modes I 100% love. Every other cache I open? No thank you.
