    If only the big companies did tests like this. Thanks again JH for a super useful and practical video

      You're welcome brother and you're spot on and I agree...I'd love for companies to make useful videos that'd help musicians like us make more informed decisions on buying their gear. I'm glad I trust Yamaha though and have been happy with most of their live sound / PA gear that I've purchased.

      @@JHGurganus agreed, if companies tested their whole product line back to back people would be much more informed. Otherwise people like us have to buy it, test it, and record it. You're welcome, Yamaha!

      @@MichaelAlso yes good way to put it! Hey question for you...can you plug an acoustic-electric guitar directly into the 4/5 sum input on the stagepas 200? The reason I'm wondering is in case there's a situation where you need 2 vocal mics and two guitars plugged in. Thanks! Actually, if you don't mind, if a guitar will work plugged into that 4/5 input, can you still use bluetooth as well? Thanks

    This is was very helpful. And I really appreciate your videos and the time you put into making them. I am considering 2 DBR12 on Stands and Plugging my AER Compact 60 amp into them for larger venues that are to big for the AER alone. With your experience with the Portable PA systems could you tell me your opinion if you think it would provide better audio using an AER and 2 DBR 12's than an all in one unit? Other than the convince of having a portable PA system? I feel like the sound quality will be better amplifying the AER sound.

    • @JHGurganus
      @JHGurganus  4 місяці тому +1

      Thank you I'm glad the videos are helpful. I appreciate it...it doesn't take all day but it certainly takes a little time to set things up, shoot a quick video and then tear everything down!
      I wish I could help you more with your question but I don't have a lot of experience with guitar amplifiers like yours. I certainly read a lot of good things about them though. I think running your AER into the dbr12s would end up sounding great for sure and would possibly provide a bigger, fuller sound but I've never tried it. I had a Fender Acoustasonic for years but never really used it and sold it to a friend. Was your question referring to your AER into two dbr12s as opposed to something like an EV evolve 30m or 50m on it's own? If so, something tells me you would get more of a pure acoustic sound out of your guitar using your AER, however, I always run my acoustic guitars directly into a mixer and then out to the PA speakers and I'm good with that sound. But I totally understand sound is subjective and everybody knows what they want to hear out of their equipment. For some reason, every time I've gotten a column system I've ended up wasting my money and selling it. From experience, if you were going to continue to use the AER I would run that into the DBR12s. Hope that helps somehow!

      @@JHGurganus thank you so much. This actually did help me decide the direction I want to go. The AER tone is excellent in replicating the true tone of my acoustic guitars and I really want to be able to amplify the tone and sound of the amp because it sounds so good. My gut tells me to use the amp to 2 PA speakers to amplify and create a stereo sound. I am a fan of Yamaha quality. The portable PA systems intrigue me for convenience and portability. But your experience with them and not being overwhelmed to keep one cements my line of thinking. Thank you again for your time and sharing your experience.

      @@LivingARareLife You're very welcome! Funny thing is about acoustic guitar tone - I have found that when I really hear the naturally amplified tone I know it right away! So I know what you're shooting for for sure. Yes I am a big fan of Yamaha quality as well, and though I've tried other brands, I've always ended up back with Yamaha gear as you can tell from my channel. If you don't mind, let me know if you get the dbr12s and how you end up liking the sound running your amp directly into them. Thanks!

    Hello. Have you got the chance to test the Dxr12 mkii outdoor with more than an acoustic guitar and one or two singers ? With a small band (4 people max) ? I have already a sub 15 inches and I’d like to buy PA speakers to replace my current stagepas400 too limited for gigs outdoor. Thanks ;-)

    • @JHGurganus
      @JHGurganus  Місяць тому

      Sorry just saw this. Yes absolutely we have used two dxr12s and two dxs15 subs outside with a band of five and sometimes six with mic'd drums. I have also used two dxr12s in a duo with one acoustic guitar and myself and a female on vocals to cover 250 plus people in an outdoor open air concert in the park. I respect the stagepas 400 and 600 systems and I used to have a couple different Stagepas 600 systems in the past. The 600 definitely got the job done, and though I never had them side by side, I feel the dxr12s would run past the stagepas system pretty easy when pushed. Hope that helps!

    Is this speaker applicable in karaoke or better for live music only?

    • @JHGurganus
      @JHGurganus  4 місяці тому

      I think they're absolutely great for live sound. Never used them for karaoke but I think they would be absolutely just fine for that application. The 12" would reproduce the low end but of course if you wanted a full range sound with deep lows, you would still get a subwoofer. Definitely depends on your end goal but yes I would say these are very usable for karaoke. Hope that helps!

    considera o dxr bem mais forte que o dbr? no vídeo a diferença é pouca.

    • @JHGurganus
      @JHGurganus  6 місяців тому +1

      I honestly cannot say that I would consider it much stronger. But truthfully, I have never pushed them both. From what I believe, I think the biggest difference would come out when both of them are pushed to the max. I believe the DXR would go a little louder SPL wise and stay a little cleaner. Again, this is just a guess and I have never pushed them both that hard. I agree very little difference in this video at these levels. I have to use headphones and really listen to hear a slight difference. Even then I think it comes down to taste at these lower levels. Hope that helps somehow!

    • @JHGurganus
      @JHGurganus  2 місяці тому +1

      @@hakdwak you're welcome. I think the dbr and dxr series sound really close to each other and I believe (but I've never tested) the differences become apparent once you start reaching max SPLs. If the space you're trying to fill needs only 1 speaker, then you're good with just 1. If the spaces you need to fill normally require 2 speakers for proper coverage, then I would try to use the same speakers (if possible) at the very least for aesthetic reasons.
