Brother, I've watched a lot of lift install videos, but I've never seen anyone go the extra mile to adjust the headlights like you did. That level of thoughtfulness and respect for other drivers really stands out. It's good to see someone do things the right way.
@@charlesjung2790 thanks man I appreciate that comment. I know I've been on the other side and had to deal with lifted trucks non-adjusted headlights right in my face. Never wanted to be that guy. Thanks again 👍

For the live band during mixing the drum mic’s,vox is it better to start QUICK then after convert to complete sir?
@@elwinceria8266 while I only have minimal experience mixing live bands, I think that is a valid idea. I don't think there is a hard rule about which way you do it. If there is time for a good sound check, you could always start with each instrument separately and get them to sounding good and then mix as you bring everything in and cut where you need to to make room. But if time is an issue and you just need to fire up and go, I would say it's just fine to start with the quick channel and then convert to the complete channel to find tune everything if you need to. Maybe you knew some of that but in case you didn't I hope that helps.

No problem good question. I have went back to my analog mixer and not used the CQ in about 2 months. I can't remember offhand if you can go right to complete channels or not. Sorry. But, for the video, I definitely went to quick channels and then to complete channels for demo purposes.

@@JHGurganus sir, another question please, Can i trust auto gain for the source?for this technology of this digital mixer which is better auto gain or manual?thank you for you concern sir,😘
@@elwinceria8266 I tried autogain but I found I could get a couple more decibels of gain doing it manually. I'm definitely not a pro at this but like I said I found I could get a couple more decibels of gain out of doing it myself. But I definitely turn the gain adjust off when I was toying around with the auto gain because it would definitely reduce it if the source got too loud but still under clipping. Какая из двух этих моделей лучше подойдёт для клубной вечеринки?
Based on my experience, I'd say it depends on expected SPL levels. If moderate, I'd say either model would be fine. If they are going to be continuously pushed near max output or the desire is there for the best sound quality between the two, I'd go for the DXR.

Just to add from my previous comment, im still blown away by the CQ mixer , im not knocking it , im buying it for sure ,but i do know its going to take a bit of learning , im one who likes to take something out of its box and figure out things for myself , but i dont think ill be doing any experiments with this especially on stage where your only as good as your last booking 😊
The CQ is remarkably easy to learn. Just got mine a few weeks ago. They did an amazing job. I had a QSC touchmix 8. It was good. Being digital it obviously allow you to do so much, but the A&H CQ18 is in a different league. Build quality. Ease of use. Versatility. and Magnificent sound.
Wow first off I like how the yamaha DXR10's are sounding , but honestly you doing the demo here on your old faithful yamaha desk against the CQ-18T new technology ,same exact settings for me goes to show new is'nt always better , did you ever ask yourself how realiable is CQ going to be , will it hold up to the confidence you and the band had on the Yamaha , ok new tech and yes of course the CQ has so much more to offer in relation to EQ being a sound engineer which we both are not qualified here ,but certainly have a good ear for music and sound in general , did you really notice any difference between the two units there , well done to Yamaha here im sure you will agree , i was talking to a mechanic lately and what he told me was nowadays he see's more newer cars drive into his garage with something wrong with them than the older cars , and this has really embedded in my brain when dealing with the audio equipment chopping and changing , just a useless picece of information for you 😊
J thank you so much for this demo , brilliantly explained, by far better than all I have seen so far over the last 24 hours , yep I'm very much contemplating moving from my Presonus 16:4:2 digital giant mixer to this CQ-18T maybe the 12T I really don't know , yes with the 18T you get a bit more extras , but for a Oneman band is it worth the extra cash , my inputs consist of 1 vocal mic acoustic and electric guitars 2 keyboards and backing tracks where I would need 3 inputs , I do have the drums coming out separate on my keyboards and yeah for a Oneman band I play them all , bit overkill but it shows that I'm actually a musician and Not just completely on reliance of backing tracks only , but getting back to the CQ I know you said you are only just getting familiar with it and thanks so much for sharing your knowledge here on what seems to be a super device by Allen & Heath , amongst browsing I happen to land in a video reviewing QSC touchmix and sure as god this got me wondering if this was the one to go for , but it's been a few years since it's release , CQ is newborn tech and your input on this mixer has got me sold and how you don't fly through explaining , it's got this it's got that and can do ,now let's move on , would love if you could do a simple video on how to setup a monitor mix just one and how to get effects through, and also just how to rec your live performance with the SD Card , I'm sure you will agree with me here by just keeping it simple and get the basics done , I would say I watched about 20 maybe more clips and each one more confusing as the next , because of you I am going to buy the CQ but which one , but I do hope to see more tutorials from you definitely, thank you again J 👍
@@TheFendertak thank you so much. You're welcome and I'm glad it was helpful. Maybe I can get to the monitor mix and recording video I will keep that in mind. Last couple of gigs I went back to my Yamaha mg10xu only because I received a couple comments on the mix not being perfect out front. Reason is, because I have a problem with changing mics and gear all the time (my own fault), the mix with my wife singing isn't perfect out front all the time. I get myself set up perfectly for FOH but she doesn't practice with me as much as I do. We dial in a great monitor mix for us quickly but she's still a little too loud or too quiet out front and I don't catch it because I'm playing and singing as well. What I wish is, for our acoustic duo, there was a way to route an exact copy of our FOH mix to our monitor whether it be a wedge or in-ears. You can do that on the mg10xu with a turn of one knob. On the touchmix, I've read a lot of good about it but one complaint I've read is since the gain knobs aren't digital they sometimes get bumped during transport/setup and have to be re-adjusted. But I agree the CQ is newer tech and I'm glad we went with that one.
OMG I think we are in the same boat here J always searching for the best , I will tell you this and I don't want to put ideas into your head but I started out with the workhorse road mic we all know the SM58 , then of course I wanted something better and fell in love with the Beta 58A , then while on holiday in Lanzarote, I met a guy one night that said I should definitely try Sev7 , then at home in Ireland I met up with a qualified sound engineer of a concert venue , and he said of all mics that singers bring with them on stage I give them the Sennheiser E945 and they immediately fall in love with it , but the mic I always wanted to try was the Neumann KMS 105 thinking this would improve my voice 10 fold , as expensive as it was it just never seems to work for me , I have given it so many trials on stage but kept going back to the Sennheiser E945 what a vocal mic I absolutely love it and so comfortable singing with it , I'm a baritone / tenor , you might have one yourself , but your mixer story I can completely relate to , my desk was the Dynacord CMS 1000 MK2 , and honestly loved it and never let me down and always stuck with the 5/55 setting for reverb/delay , but then the presonus 16:4:2 came up and still a few nights at the beginning I ended up switching over to the CMS once or twice during sound check and then another night during my break half way , you can imagine the panic and anxiety, but of late I'm beginning to get a handle on the digital desk and now here comes the QC , here we go again 😊 as I said I did not purchase yet cause J I simply don't know what to go for the 18 or the 12 and I want to buy from a sound engineer only 12 miles from me , I'm told he buys them and sets them up , well I'm being told this and then there's the up dating of the software version , this freaks me out 😮 and I'm told this guy will demo the unit and everything, so ! I'm only waiting now on a call back here J , now with regards to monitor mixing ,when I had my 5 piece band this drove me batty so many nights , I find a good monitor mix is vital for you to perform your best especially when your behind front of house , I have seen many bands angle front of house in towards them and this can sound great to you but now your after crossing the sound waves ,getting technical here but you know what I mean , and then it was mentioned to me to buy in ears , yes I did but they spend the nights in the gig case ,tried a few times just can't get used to them , well now I wait and make my decision hopefully within a day or two , hopefully this sound guy will get back to me if not I'll probably end up buying from online musicstore , I'm getting anxious now J , patience is a virtue , and I don't have patience 😉😄👍
@@TheFendertak yes patience! I struggle with that a lot, too. Clear on everything you said about the mixers. Hopefully you can make the right decision between the 12 or the 18 CQ. Funny you mentioned the e945. So here's my story. I've used the 58 a lot and my wife still prefers it for her voice. But a couple years ago I stayed away from the 58 and tried other mics with great success for my voice. So I got a wired e935 which I like the sound of but unfortunately that mic likes to feed back if using wedges. I've tried different monitor placement and stuff but it is the only mic that gives me feedback issues...the only one. Anyways, we've since went back to in-ears but for the last 2 weeks I've been thinking about getting an e945 capsule for my ew-d system. So I'm glad you're liking your 945. We have a gig tomorrow and I'm using my 835 capsule but I still may consider the 945.
Best of luck with the gig , hope your using your CQ 18T , be sure let us know how it all went for you ,even try get a video clip for us to listen to , with regards to mic ,in all honesty I never have an issue with feedback with my E945 mic , now unless I really drive my monitor which is the Dynacord AM12 , the only mic that causes me fierce grief is my Neumann Kms105 , I'm told to use this mic your FOH speakers would have to be at least 8 to 10 feet apart , very rarely this is the case , it's now up on an adverts site for sale , I can always say I got it ,I tried it but did not work , it's feedback is weird in that when this happens its not a squeal like a dynamic mic but silent piercing in ones ear , dangerous in fact , and I have withnessed it , at a gig during setting up and testing the usual 1 2 and seeing people putting their hands up to their ears ,even me , so J that finishes me with condensers and phantom power 😊 impulse buying I'm a terror for it , and then when I try selling I lose money , ahh well yes we musicians will never be satisfied 😂 still no call back , I'll give him till tomorrow and then I will just buy direct from my online music store which is Thomann in Germany but I'll be on my own with the unit , but sure I've got you on my side J and yes there are many you tubers here with tutorials ,but I still stand with you as being number one , hope all goes well tonight for ye , chow for now , kind regards, Martin 👍⭐
@@TheFendertak clear on all that and thank you for the kind words. Setting up right now but I open this and didn't want to forget to get back! 🎤🎸
Good video. I also have both of these units. I think the Allen & Heath is a huge improvement in sound over the Yamaha. Granted, when nothing is done to the signal, it is tougher to tell the difference but what is amazing about the A & H is all the processing that can easily be done to dramatically improve the live sound. If you have the budget, I can't recommend the CQ-18 enough!
@@cheintz44 I agree! I love the sound I'm able to get out of that Allen & Heath. I just wish I could easily get the foh sound into our floor monitor or our ears. I wish it was as simple as the monitor knob on the mg10XU. I have unfortunately had more complaints on somebody not being loud enough or being too loud out front and I really never got that using the mg10xu since the monitor mix was the exact same as front of house with no guesswork. I say that on our acoustic duo side of things. I play guitar and sing and my wife sings but I don't think she has the ear to walk out front and let me know what she's hearing and it's hard for me to all the time. We try to set it up at the house but she doesn't practice half as much as I do and I have a problem with changing the equipment or messing with different gear half the time. Part of it's my fault but at least with the Yamaha mixer I get the exact foh mix in our ears. Sounds like a minimal problem but I wish they could update it to get the foh mix to monitors instead of them having to be adjusted individually. Kind of like on the evolve 30 and 50M you can get the exact foh mix to your monitor if you wish.
@@JHGurganus I purchased it for this exact reason (i am completely solo). I record a couple quick tunes onto the SD card, then play them back while walking around out front with my I Pad acting as the mixer. Unit's internal WIFI works fine for this. This way I can literally mix myself singing and playing guitar, in the actual room before the show starts. Once you get used to it, you can go pretty quickly. Granted, the sound can change when the room fills with bodies but you can adjust that as well
@@cheintz44 nice I'm glad that method works for you 👍
@@JHGurganus I reread your note above - you can put the monitor sends in a VCA and link it to the main outs which should alleviate the monitor volume issue you mention
I want it higher with more ground clearance,,, NEED to lift up 5 inch front,, 3.5 inch rear,,, Eibach sell any strut/shock like that ??? do u know?? thx
I don't know if eibach sells a full 5 inch lift or not. But, if you want that much lift I would say you definitely need to buy a full lift kit that drops the front differential and keeps everything aligned properly.
I have both speakers 15s The amp in the DXR is going to have just a little more top end power over the DBR. The DBR(compression driver, Magnet: Ferrite 65 rms) The DXR compression driver, Magnet: Neodymium 100 rms) I like both speakers DBR warmer sound and better bottom end and value . The DXR has a clearer and brighter tone if you need to play loud the DXR is the best choice and the DBR is the better value
@@josetorresdjlito4530 I agree. DBR better value and DXR better choice for higher demand gigs at about double the price 👍

Thank you brother, Just got mine the other day. Trying to figure it all out. Everyday making progress. But it can be SO frustrating when you're like, "why can't i see that screen i just saw! Where the hell is the compressor! I was just there a moment ago!" LOL Getting used to the routing! UGH. I know it's just a matter of time, but as I'm sure you know very well when you're used to an analog board and seeing ALL the settings simply laid out right in front of you, adjusting to a multi-screen digital system takes time and practice. And I'm just beginning. Thanks for your upload.
You're welcome. Yes your 100% correct those are exactly the same feelings I had and still do sometimes. So much to learn to navigate quickly for a recent analog convert like me as well. Yes I'm still learning but definitely easier now. I hope you enjoy it...definitely a lot of board in a small package!
Wait, I see that you didn't install the Eibach PRO-ALIGNMENT Kit. Was there a particular reason for that? My alignment tuner was able to tune the alignment perfectly back to stock after my lift since the alignment cams allows up to 1.5 degrees of caster and 1 degree of camber adjustment. Idk why Ford doesn't install alignment cams from the factory.
@@piesareround I called and talked to eibach before I purchased the kit. I specifically asked them about that and they said their alignment kit was not necessary for my truck or our years of truck I guess. I'm definitely not a pro when it comes to alignments but based on what they said I did not purchase it. When I took it to the alignment shop they had it in and out pretty quick without issue.
@JHGurganus interesting 🤔. Yeah, I'm no professional as well, so it's cool to hear how it wasn't really needed to achieve proper alignment. I wonder if my aftermarket UAC's played a factor. I went a conservative 2" lift and im thinking about installing the Ford Proformance Tremor half shafts apparently the cv joints are more stout with the Raptor outer CV joint. Not bad for only $500 Tnx the reply.
@@piesareround You're welcome. Yeah maybe your UCAs did play a factor. As you see I stayed conservative as well with just about 2 inches but if I went higher I'm sure I would do aftermarket UCAs like you and it's probably a good idea for those tremor half shafts. I've always been a full lift kit guy but from everything I read there's some guys that go 2 and 1/2 inches and say their truck has been fine after like 80,000 mi or something. You've probably read that, too. 500 bucks is definitely not bad to make things a little more stout in the front that's for sure.
How does the dxr15 comaprwd to the dbr? Is it a lot louder? How does the original dxr compared to the mk2? I have a dbr and have a chancs to pickup a original dxr15 for cheap. Just wondering if its worth the upgrade or should i just get the new dxr at full price. Thankyou
@@mastervang2058 you're welcome. I've never had or used a dbr15 but I have some other videos on my channel comparing the dxr12mkii to the dbr12 and the dbr10 to the dxr10mkii. Here is my take on it...I think the dbr12 and the dxr12mkii sound very familiar with the dxr maybe being a little bit clearer in the top end. My guess is it would also hold together better when pushed to max SPL. I think it depends on what your needs are and what your end goal is. I sold my original dxr series before I could compare them to my mkii series so I can't speak to that. I think the average listener would not be able to tell a difference to be honest with you, but side by side, I believe a trained ear could hear a little difference. I would say the dxr would be a little louder based on the SPL ratings but can't say it would really be a lot louder in reality. For what it's worth, friends of mine who bought some of my dbrs and dxrs use them for gigs and I have absolutely no problems or reservations playing and singing through them. I like the DBR series as well but I do tend to stick with the dxr series for when I really have to push things for outside festivals and stuff. I know it's not really a clear answer but I hope it helps. If your goals are a really loud band or for loud DJ purposes, I would feel better about going with the dxr or dxrmkii series. If it's for quieter type stuff that isn't pushed to the max all the time the dbrs should be fine.
Great job. Fun night
@@734snoop thanks yes definitely a fun night thanks to you guys!! 👍
What is louder the dxr10mk2 or the ev elx?
@@mastervang2058 if you look at the reported specs, the DXR10mkii would be louder at 132dB SPL vs 130dB for the elx200-10p.
I have the same spec except in the longer wheel base. I had to remove the lower control arm bolts to get my factory struts out. Good video.
@@AndrewH91 thank you. Were you able to pound them out?
@@JHGurganus yeah really simple to remove the bolts. Wasn’t overly worried about it since it’s getting an alignment done afterwards.
@@AndrewH91 Good they were simple. I just didn't seem to have enough room to pound mine out or maybe I just didn't try hard enough. Gad yours came out easy.
Double H last time I checked was made in the USA Ariat in China if made in Mexico that's a hard choice.
@@anthonynelson2635 I just went and checked mine out of curiosity. The Double Hs did not indicate where they were made and the Ariats said they were made in Indonesia. Either way, the Double H's are so much more comfortable on my feet. I know it's subjective but that's how it is for me.
Always measure from middle of center of wheel to bottomof wheel well
@@rdkng06 yes thanks I've heard that too. I'm sure it works well maybe more accurate I don't know. I've always did it the other way on level pavement consistently. Appreciate it though.
How does the dxr10 compare to the dbr10?
@@mastervang2058 I think they sound very familiar as they both have a full mid-range to my ear but the DXR has a little clearer top end. I also believe the dxr would hold together better than the DBR when pushed to max SPL but I've not tried that. I'd say the dxr is also a better made box with better components down to a better carry handle.
Can you record an album with this bad boy? Obviously final mixing and mastering done thru computer
@@luisbarrera5740 if you recorded directly to the CQ itself all the tracks have to be recorded at one time I believe. I do not think it allows for overdubs. So with that said, if you had a band and wanted to record each song in one take I believe you would be able to but I have not tried that. I believe it can also interface with your computer. I tried it but I'm not that technical to be honest with you. I bought a focusrite Clarett + 4 pre so I could record 4 drum tracks at once.
Did you by any chance managed to test glx d+ side by side with wired beta 58a? I've made a test in my studio of my beta 58a pgx with wired beta 58a and i've noticed some lack in sound quality (especialy in high frequencies) so I am thinking of update to glx system!?
@@vuleomish I did. It was maybe a year or so ago though so I don't remember clearly what the outcome was. If I recall correctly, seems to me the first thing that jumped out at me was there was a tad more detail in the wired version and that was me trying to be critical of it. Again though that was a year ago so it's hard for me to recall since I mess with microphones so much. I did sell the glxd+ to a friend of mine who uses a wired beta 58. we gigged together last week and he used the glxd+. After the set I asked him what he thought of it, he said it could have used a little more highs. He liked it other than that and plans to use it at his next gig I think. Keep in mind though, we were using one of my mixers and I don't know how he normally EQs his wired beta 58. I will tell you that in the past we gigged using my mixer and his wired beta and the only thing I remember him saying to me is to not roll off too much of the lows because he likes some of the proximity effect. Maybe those highs he thought was missing was what I thought I heard in the detail of the wired version that I mentioned earlier. I can tell you though, I gigged with the glxd + for about a year and I was totally happy with it. I only sold it because I started converting over to the small battery-powered receivers from Shure and Sennheiser. The battery life on the glxd+ is absolutely awesome!
@@JHGurganusthank you very much!
@@vuleomish yessir no problem!

@@JimmyDangerBones I'm sorry which part looks like a ring?
@@JHGurganus I guess I mean Type C charger. They sent a micro B in the box.
@@JimmyDangerBones oh wow that stinks but I understand now. Heck it's hard for me to decipher some of these charger types sometimes.
@@JHGurganus I definitely appreciate this video. I would've gone mad trying to figure out where to stick this charger! Luckily my phone charger worked.

Damn good cover, buddy. Thank you for putting this up.

Is there a way in controlling the volume of the left and right active speakers like a PYLE mgx46bt?
@@baryasaumaga5243 not that I know of on the mg10xu unless you run one main out and the other main through the monitor output. I'm not sure on the CQ unless you use an aux out that is mixed the same as the main output. Hope that makes sense. Someone who knows their way around a digital mixer better than me may be able to have a better solution for the CQ.
@JHGurganus or is there Yamaha mixer with volume control for left and right speakers? Without the separate control adding two channel equalizer is useless. Pls advise...
@@baryasaumaga5243 not that I know of. I don't believe you can with the mg or mgp series. I took a look and it looks like you can't with the dm3 series, either, but I could be wrong. I never really thought about that but I would suspect they would have something with separate l/r main controls.
@JHGurganus just bought an equalizer, so do u believe it is not necessary to keep it? Pls pls advise again...
@@baryasaumaga5243 I would have to ask what did you buy the equalizer for? What equipment do you have (your whole signal chain)? And what are you using everything for?
I'm in the process of deciding between the two of these so I appreciate you taking the time and effort to do the video. Couldn't tell a huge difference in performance overall although I know there is a lot more processing that CAN be done with the A&H...however, the Yamaha pre-amp and op-amp are deliberately clean, natural and uncolored, and it cost about 1/3-ish of the A&H. So the question is, just because processing can be done, should it? One extra point to the A&H for being able to record in 48/96khz to a DAW if that's your thing. For live small band shows, they both will get the job done it seems. Thanks again.
@robertscottbyers5502 You're welcome and I agree with all your points especially about just because processing can be done...should it? I've recently went back to the mg10xu because sometimes I don't like too many choices and options. Sometimes simpler is better for me at least.
Mine has the 5.7 Vortec. How's your oil pressure doing? 3rd door latch still intact?
@@brikthor mines a 5.7 as well. Oil pressure still reads as normal as it ever did. Yes the 3rd door latch is still intact but the driver side inner door handle did break last year
