@@thefilmalliance Hey Joe, I got the handle and the 10-20mm kit lens. For memory I purchased a 160GB Sony CF Xpress type A card and a V90 256GB SD card. (I want to shoot 4K 120 slow motion video in all of its glory!) I’m about to do my unboxing video, and I am going to send people over to your channel to see the great examples of footage you’ve been sharing. :-)

Aww. Mine is supposed to show up tomorrow. I used my iPhone for a few shots in a recent video and I can’t believe how bad the quality is versus my Sony cameras. I’m kind of excited for this new camera. It’s best to get high quality cards and batteries for sure.

@@thefilmalliance Ah well as a hobby for now but i really want to make it my fulltime profession, just need to get all these ideas out my head first.
The only thing I would say, with the h265 encoding, while the file sizes are smaller, it is also HELL on a computer trying to uncompress and work on the files. Would be interesting to see side by side the H265 and the uncompressed XAVC I .

Hi Joe. Coming from the ZV-E10 world, locking in shutter, aperture AND iso then using ND filters is a counter-intuitive way of working.
Outside on a day where clouds come and go, are you spending more time swapping NDs than shooting? Is the slog exposure latitude so wide that a single ND nearer the correct expose good enough? Do you need variable NDs or magnetic ones for quick swaps? Do you ditch using lens hoods because you are forever swapping filters? Do you expose correctly via zebras (joel famularo) or overexpose (gerald undone)
A video on how us ZV-E10 users that don’t shoot in a controlled studio setup get the best from a camera that everyone else says to treat like you are in a studio would be really helpful. Otherwise, I expect it would be easy to get disappointed and just stay with s-cinetone and auto iso.

Oh no. I just got mine and realized I need your help to set it up. The menu is new, and there are multiple 4K options. It’s a huge leap from the ZV-E10 as far as options. Do you have a setup video in the works?
Arthur R has done a good video showing the FX30 as a photo camera next to a A6000. With a surprising outcome.
Every since I stopped working cause of covid, and now all I do is babysit making $80 every other week. I’m hoping to buy this camera by the end of this year. That’s my 2023 goal.

I have almost given up on the FX30. I am nowhere near as skilled as you are, but have tried various settings to get good color from the FX30. I'm positive that the problem lies in my skills. I don't want to do much color grading in post, and want vivd colors out of the camera. What settings do you recommend for this?
Have you tried S-Cinetone? That should help. It’s a great camera, so i recommend keep practicing with it and watching edu YT videos for the FX30. Start in the early morning hours or evening to get the best lighting. Hope that helps.
I have a ZV1 and now I’m starting to play with manual modes but I like to have an interchangeable lens camera. Which one you think would be better for me? Zve10 or this FX30?
Hey AJ, I think the FX 30 is definitely a better camera with a lot more functionality especially for someone who wants to create really nice looking films. But I guess it depends on what you’re using it for. Because the zve10 is a perfect little UA-cam camera.
Thanks for posting the vid - did you get the Tilta FX3 cage to fit the FX30 in the end? (Are the bodies similar enough that any FX3 cage would fit FX30?)

Yes you can use your full frame lenses with the FX 30. However you cannot use a PSE lenses with full frame camera us. There’s no quality difference other than a punches in 1.5 times

A fabulous camera but I'd like to hear what spec PC you use to edit these videos (not the software). Alot of the newer cameras are beyond what my computer can handle.
Thanks for those kind words and encouragement. Yes I agree. I feel like cameras are advancing faster than our computers. Too many times I get home and can’t even watch or playback my footage because it’s too choppy. And I just bought my computer two years ago. So I guess we just have to keep on investing money. What cameras do you have?
I mainly use my gh5m2 although the 10 bit 4.2.2 needs transcoding before I can watch it, so I end up using 4k at 8 bit so my pc can keep up ( its an intel i7 so not a slow machine at all).
I'd consider a FX30 but would worry if I could the best out of it without spending a fortune on computer upgrades.

Like many others I don’t want to pay a bajillion dollars for those super expensive Type A memory cards. If I don’t need to shoot above 30fps, can I get away with V60 cards (there are SDXC, and U3 cards) and still achieve the absolute highest video quality for my FX30?

I move from photography to videography. Can I ask how can I use shortcut for exposure compensation in video mode? I find it very inconvenient to dig deep into the menu for changing the exposure compensation value, espcially when it's recording a footage. Thanks!

Hey there, what a great idea I can compare the two picture profiles to see if you can really tell that much of a difference. I know S log three takes a lot more post production work so I’d prefer to just shoot an estimate tone but sometimes that comes back to bite me because I can’t really do much with the colors. So it will be interesting to see. Did you buy the FX 30?

My biggest issue with the super 35 sensor is finding super 35 cine lenses. I have full frame lenses for general purpose stuff and blocking. I did find a house that rents some decent S35 lenses for the serious shoots.
I know your pain, I actually just shot a ton of morning beer roll with the seven artisans T1.05 cine lens. And it was an amazing experience. Have you looked into this lens? They also sell a 35 mm cine lens
They don't have EF mounts... (expletive deleted)!
Meike has some new super35 cinema lenses. Go check out the Spencer sakurai video on them
@@CartyCantDance I have and thanks for the tip. They have some nice kits, too. Xeen is also a good FF choice. Head to head, I like the Xeen a tad bit better.

I’d have to say the FX30 because you will have room to grow. But ZV-e10 is much cheaper

Hey there yes I would agree with that. Any a PSC lenses you buy for the CD Eaton you can now use with the FX 30. I feel like this camera links entry-level filmmakers with pros. So it will be exciting to see. Where do you consider yourself on that spectrum?
@@thefilmalliance i just want the 10 bit and 4k60 capability for future proofing, I don’t think i can handle it rn but yeah, i was looking at xt4 for that purpose but now sony got one! I really think the additional features on the fx30 can compensate for the smaller sensor (that is indeed brand new)

I have an a6500 and I was about to get the gh5 for the 4k60 but I like the image of Sony , I held out because I have a lot of apsc lenses. When the fx30 was announced I hurry up and pre ordered it’s here and I have no regrets, I sold my a6500 to my little brother for 200 buck just because he’s family 😂😂

@@thefilmalliance JYJZPB NP-FZ100 Battery on Amazon. $50 for two with the charging case. They obviously don't last as long as the OG batteries but for the price, they've been worth it for me to buy twice.
