Every time I watch one of your videos it makes me want to buy a bag from Polene, but I can't stop thinking about the increasing amount of comments I'm reading about their decline in quality in recent years since they started becoming more popular. Maybe their sales grew so much that they can't keep manufacturing so many bags with the quality they once used to. I don't know. Like I said, I've been hearing this more and more and it honestly worries me. I don't know if perhaps I should invest first on other brands that make their bags in Spain like Guibert or Strathberry.
Thank you for your comment and fast growth may cause issues in quality. Perhaps more and more peope voice those mishaps hopefully they address it. And you can't go wrong with Stratberry, I love them as well ni don't know the Guibert tho I will check
I bought a Polene bag in December and I have no issues with the quality. I purchase the smooth leather bag and it was slightly more expensive than the textured leather but I think the price was fair for the quality.
People have different experience. My polene bag just arrived 2 days ago after long waiting of 1 month. And i love it, it quality is there. People say the leather is stiff, but it's not. It's soft but still enough to hold it's structure. The grain is beautiful. The edging is great. I bought it from Polene official online store in Taobao (China's online marketplace). It's very good quality. Before buying i also very scared of the horrible things people experienced. But i still love the design and want to try in hope i get the good quality.
Really like your videos! Not sure if you have done a video dissection with the brand Hammitt. I live in SoCal and they are a SoCal brand of really lovely leather bags. They started in 2008. They are family owned and very closely involved in their business from what I can tell. They care tremendously about their customers. Their customer service and guarantee on their goods is fantastic. They have a hearty fan base too. I own a few of their leather bags and what appealed to me at first, since I had never heard of them until 2023, was how soft & supply the leather was. The rivet signature design of theirs is also lovely. I hope you get to do a video on them as i am curious to have your thoughts as a customer. Please keep doing a great job Mr. Tanner.
When I first clicked on one of your videos, I was ready for some messy commentary on the bag market. Instead, you constantly give very thoughtful, consumer, small business, and ecological focused content on retail leather goods manufacturing. It's so interesting, and funny too. Thanks! 😊
I’m glad you give your price analysis! With the recent price increases from Polene I couldn’t gage if those prices would still considered to be fair and you answered that question! Thank you! Can’t wait to see your next video!
I’m glad you mentioned prototyping costs. They can be a huge upfront investment and it’s something that the shopper doesn’t consider as part of the final cost of the product (plus cost of material logistics etc).
Absolutely, actually the main cost of a new bag is the time to design and perfect it through prototypes and iterations. That's why I refuse custom work requests as it would be insanely expensive to do all that for just a single product. But for brands that cost is bearable as they sell many of the design
Love your videos as always! ❤ As a tip, try cutting the hardware with pliers, if it cuts easily then it's probably cheap zinc alloy like many brands. You will also see the silvery inside and see it's very soft metal. If it's really really hard or almost impossible to cut through, it's good quality. If impossible to cut, try sanding deeply. From the color you can check whether it's brass (golden) or stainless steel (silver) or iron (darker). You can also check with a magnet before cutting. If it's magnetic it's probably iron and that doesn't last because it rusts. I would LOVE to see your testing regarding hardware as most brands don't specify at all their hardware materials and we as consumers are so confused 😔
I'm thrilled that you enjoy the videos! Your tip about testing hardware is spot-on; it's a practical method to assess quality. Your suggestion to delve into hardware materials is valuable, as this is often a gray area for many. I'll consider this in future content. Thank you for your insightful contribution!
Great video about Polene, I hope that they are not declining in quality and craftsmanship as I own a Polene Nunero Un bag. The information you give is always unbiased Thank you 😊
I love my Cyme mini! I carried it for 2-3 months straight with no issues and it still looks brand new. It sucks to hear that some people haven’t had good experiences because my experience has been great. Thanks for sharing more information on the brand’s origins 🖤
Thank you for this informative video! Polène definitely has very original designs and it's great to see how they led you to Ubrique 🙂I have noticed many more customer reports about inconsistent quality from Polène. This could be part of growing pains. Curious to hear your thoughts about this.
Thank you for your comment, indeed I have read wome Customer Service issues and some quality issues before but I haven't got a bag that had a flaw so far. It must be growing pains as they are growing so fast as far as I heard. Hopefully they fix those mishaps and improve their customer service to keep the great work on the bag unhindered
You deserve 5M subscribers! I am new to your channel. I stayed up until 5am to watch your videos last night..😊 I can’t believe you actually visited each town to explore about each brand.. You are so awesome!
I haven't had a chance to own this bag because of my friend's bad experience with it. First of all, the bag arrived with such a chemical smell, as if she ordered it from AliExpress for 5 euros, which you would never expect from luxury brands. The bag also came with oil stains and bad stitches. I remember seeing my friend's face after paying almost 400 euros for the bag. She didn't want to deal with returning it because Polène's customer support was not helpful; they blamed the delivery for the stains, claiming the bag was sent in good shape. My friend used the bag with heavy items, and the stitches started coming out after 5 months. Although the bag has a very good design, I believe the designers lack some technical engineering skills as the bag started getting loose and the structured shape changed over time. For the price, I really believe it's not a timeless piece and will be out of fashion in a couple of years as TikTok hypes up different bags. Although I love this channel, I feel there are many videos involving Polène, and this seems more like a marketing activity than an unbiased review. Tanner didn’t even criticize the brand that much when he found plastic in its leather and still said this is a good deal?? whereas he would make a big deal out of it for other brands and I really believe he works either closely with this brand or as he mentioned in the video he has friends in Spain where Polène bags are made.
My Polène Numéro Dix bag is great. I bought it back in either 2021 or 2022. I hope you do move to Spain and do some videos from the leather industry there. I watched your video of when you went to Spain, kind of undercover, to check out the leather. Greetings from Los Angeles
Thank you so much for these videos! I’ve learned so much. I would love to see you do unknown Italian brands like Boldrini, which I believe worked with Dooney & Bourke on their Alto collection. It would be great to have your expertise on these lesser known brands.
Fair review as always. I think it was a conscious decision for Polène to use this material for this specific tote design because they need the structure to give this bag the style they are trying to achieve. Commendable review regardless. Love your channel ofc❤
Thank you for the very interesting and informative video. I have 5 Polène bags and am very happy with all of them. Will you be considering do a video about bags from Songmont as well? 😊
Thank you for keeping us educated with your videos, I’m always leather-tained. 😃😃 wishing you all the best with your next chapter in Spain too, that’s really exciting! Btw, have you heard of Toteme? It would be good to see your dissection and thoughts on some of their bags.
I love this! Question though the video of the hardware from the first video was when you were showing the hardware sticks and the coating was coming off. Here you used the same footage to say how premium the hardware of the brand can be. Is it inconsistent across designs?
Hi Tanner! Thank you so much for your awesome videos and all the insight and details! 🙏 Can you please recommend a great high quality mens laptop bag? 🙏😊💗
When will you do Furla and coccinelle review? Are they using cow leather at all? They are cheap, yet claiming using Italian calfskin. We need your opinion 🙏
Great video. Thank you for sharing all your knowledge. I wish you great success on starting your own brand. I hope to buy one of your bags. Maura in Ireland.
Hope one day you will review frank clegg. Now i consider more on pay for leather bag😂 because watch most of your video. Thank you for knowledge and detail
It's awesome to see you're getting into the good stuff and recognizing what makes a top-notch leather bag! I can assure you that Frank Clegg is on our list for potential reviews.
I was going to order a Polene bag but watched some youtube videos about the quality going down i.e. hardware falling off and will hold off until I visit the Tokyo store in a few months. Also, they have really bad online customer service from doing my research. You mentioned that LV has good hardware but I've stopped buying from them because the zippers and hardware are so bad nowadays. Compare an old LV bag from 15 years ago and you will notice that they were once heavier and more substantial. LV is using some weird alloy nowadays that makes their bags feel cheap.
Thanks for sharing your experience with LV. Most products I bought from LV had steel hardware which is the top choice in leather. But they have such a large catalogue and make their stuff all over the world, I don't have full knowledge. So your comment helps
Love my Polene bags but with the Cyme you reviewed here I found that the leather was so very different. Had a beautiful shape at first, then became softer with every use and the bag just collapsed in itself after a while. To keep at least some of the shape I needed a liner, which is not ideal for a bag that is already 2lbs weight. 😢I wish they would remake this bag in a different leather. This is the Polene that looks as if it was made to be warhorse- the travel with me everywhere bag- but it unfortunately just went flat. There are some youtube 6 month/1yr reviews that show this clearly. How do you feel about Polene being able to meet the massive demand that they are experiencing? Unless the production has expanded immensely, the service or quality likely has to suffer, no matter how hard they work?
Would you consider reviewing leather journals/covers? Specifically the leather for Traveler's Notebook, Midori, Galen Leather, Superior Label, Hobonichi, Arts&Science, etc?
I just had a terrible experience with Polène. I am happy with their leather, but the actual crafts of stitching and overall construction were a bit disappointing. Probably due to poor quality control. I was doubting many online negative comments about the issue but unfortunately I experienced the same. Still haven’t gotten my refund yet, took many many emails to get a return label. So be aware. I do like their design so was a little disappointed. Hope the brand matures.
I'm sorry to hear about your unfortunate experience with Polène. It's disappointing when a product doesn't live up to our expectations, and even more so when customer service doesn't promptly address our concerns. Hopefully, they will take this into account and we'll see improvements in the future.
Polene only offers this (also my least favorite) leather for the Numero Un Nano size and the Cyme. I like their smooth and grained leathers. My guess is they can't source enough of the quality leathers for their most popular bags, but I'm happy with what bags I've bought from Polene.
#kkuwan The canvas tote actually reminds me of the Hermes Garden Party too. Thanks for making this video to suggest more budget friendly alternatives. love it!
What would you recommend to darken a backpack with Horween Veg Tan Essex Leather! without ruining the leather!!!!!I was looking at the description of the bag and it mentioned that the leather was slightly bleached so I was hoping I could tan the leather a bit more if possible.
I was planning to get three of their bags numero 10, the tonca and the cyme mini. But after reading all the negative reviews about the quality decrease and their horrible customer service I changed my mind. I read some reviews that bags broke after one month and there is no warranty on the bags. For such a price I don't get how we cannot have a warranty.
Ayo if I’m honest could you do a review on Argentina’s leather industry. They are notorious for their meat, and everything related to cows really ahah. I believe they might have good leather, but only if it’s worth it. Well it’s just a suggestion, let me know if it’s a good space for quality leather because I wouldn’t like to live on with a misconception ahaha
@ *LUYBAG* The canvas tote actually reminds me of the Hermes Garden Party too. Thanks for making this video to suggest more budget friendly alternatives. love it!
I have done a review of Demelier earlier. It's on the channel but it wasn't nearly impressive. Even in Ubrique there are shops that take some simpler ways to make crafts and it felt like one of those but I just reviewed one product from them so far. I should check more before generalizing it
So excited for the opportunity for you to have your own line!! May I suggest a bag for international traveling with security options. 🫢 Security locks from pick pocketers?? No zippers…somehow. 🤷🏻♀️😊.
This bag can change the look of the bag through magnets at both ends, but if it is modified frequently, the cowhide can wear out, so I think it was designed with plastic leather
Can you review some Indian made leather bag, like The Chesterfield Brand? It is Netherland's, but made in India. I am curious if their bags are vegetable tanned.
I was considering getting one of these but then saw the shipping is DHL. They are an absolute nightmare, will never willingly put myself through that again.
I'm considering buying a gift for my loved ones, but making such an expensive purchase, especially in India where there are no stores, makes me a bit hesitant. The growing issues with Polene also contribute to my uncertainty. Would you advise me to take these factors into consideration and reconsider my decision?
Thank you for sharing your concern, upon this video I see the growing concerns about rising issues made me curious to. I will look more into it and hopefully those are growing pains of the brand they address them soon. It would be quite sad to see such great efforts being shadowed by some mishaps. My experience was great so far and majority of the people had the same notion about Polene but I definitely see an increased amount of concerns with this video. I would still choose them and reach out to customer service if you happened to get a problem item. I would expect a resolution from a brand that is in the spotlight these days.
Thank you so much for the reply... It really helped me and I look forward you for making a video addressing this issue with Polene.. we all want answers.
Your interest in a Givenchy dissection is noted! While we have several brands on our list for future reviews, Givenchy is definitely one of them. Your suggestion and support are greatly appreciated, so stay tuned!
I like Polene more. I reviewed a DeMellier bag before but didn't like it that much. You may check all brands I've reviewed so far here: leathertainment.notion.site/ The DeMellier review is here: ua-cam.com/video/NqE7CJGkNpA/v-deo.htmlsi=KrV-d2uvcByvI7m6
Your interest in a video review for Fauré Le Page bags is truly appreciated, and rest assured, it is on the List. The timeline for this is still being fine-tuned, but every item on our list will be thoughtfully addressed!
I don't agree with Fossil part as I reviewed their products. Some of Fossil leathers are pretty good butnothers are Okay. Most Polene leather on the other hand is great except this one in the video. Coach leathers I love and I have seen mixed leathers from D&B so far some great some poor
I don't like their textured leather. They had smooth leather before, which had less plastic. I still have a piece from early ages which was high quality. I tried to order smooth leather numero uno in fall 2023 but stitching was off. Magnetic flap was not horizontally aligned. When I talked to support they said they don't see the issue(which sounds to me that the quality is not that great anymore). Still I was able to return it and receive a refund. But they haven't returned the shipping fee of $20. I hoped for it because it was not my fault. Anyways, until further changes I will not buy from them. Sad that they built a good thing and then lowered that quality that is not available anymore.
Have you done your research on Polène recently? They are getting A LOT of pushback. They have upped their prices twice in the last year of about +25% while crawling under complaints of their quality getting worse and worse, bags falling apart within months. They also have notoriously terrible customer support now. Many people in the handbag community are now staying away from the brand, despite sometimes owning and loving older models. I think it is extremely unfair to make a video in such a positive light of a brand that is currently being talked about a lot in such a negative way by the community.
I appreciate your patience and understanding. Although I'm not currently informed about the issue you're referring to, I will be visiting their Paris store later this week. Rest assured, I will delve into the matter and will update as I continue to navigate this situation, ensuring we uphold the quality and reliability you've come to expect from us in the leather industry.
He’s doing an unbiased review. Shouldn’t be influenced by Polene or bad reviews seen online. That being said consumers can see this video and also do their own research
I find Polene’s quality has gone down hill. I had the bag you reviewed, and I think the bag is worth less than $100. I am curious why you give Polene so much credit for design but not the other fashion houses? With the big luxury fashion houses, yes you are definitely paying for the name, but they are setting the design trends, they must spend a fortune on design and prototypes.
Polene is shit. The service in their Paris shop was extremely shit. Staff left me waiting for sometimes, they were busy chatting. A 2 stars hotel does a better job than Polene. The bag was horrible. A month after I bought the bag, 3 uses later, the edge peeled off! They recently raised their price too. Such a joke. They need to work hard to do a better CS and quality control.
I bought another bag from them after two years, the packaging has changed, even the dust bag wasnt as impressive and the bag seemed smaller.. and then the price went up. I got the the nano uno tri color, at 280£ and the quality was so good but now that i purchased the same style but got the sandalwood, the quality isnt as nice.. the packaging is just not even as luxurious as it was 2 years ago.. idk.. im just sad polene isnt the same polene two years ago

I bought a Polene bag in December and I have no issues with the quality. I purchase the smooth leather bag and it was slightly more expensive than the textured leather but I think the price was fair for the quality.

Great and informative video, as always!
Thank you for your kind words!
Please make a video dissection of a the Row bag
You should not be a sheep and see for yourself if you like it or not
Thank you for review. Unfortunately they are hiking the prices quite a bit and quality is declining...
Crockett jones boots next please ❤
Can you do a video about Loro Piana’s bag please! 🙇♀️
Thanks for making this video to suggest more budget friendly alternatives. love it!
When is Pegai going to be made there?
Can you also review DeMellier? ❤
And DEMELLIER??? Is made in the same spanish zone. Can you do a review about this brand too? Thank you
I have done a review of Demelier earlier.
Security locks from pick pocketers?? No zippers…somehow. 🤷🏻♀️😊.
Can you please do Songmont bag review? 😊
This bag can change the look of the bag through magnets at both ends, but if it is modified frequently, the cowhide can wear out, so I think it was designed with plastic leather
Please do a review for Cafune :)
Hi, could you dissect something from Aspinal of London and Le Tanneur? I would love to listen to your estimation.
Can you review the brand "cuoieria fiorentina"? Please ❤
Can you please do a review for Fontana Milano?
Polene price hikes are crazy now though
I like your video very much♡
I'm considering buying a gift for my loved ones, but making such an expensive purchase, especially in India where there are no stores, makes me a bit hesitant.
Would love to see a Givenchy dissection
Your interest in a Givenchy dissection is noted! While we have several brands on our list for future reviews, Givenchy is definitely one of them. Your suggestion and support are greatly appreciated, so stay tuned!
Can you do a KAAI mini pyramid review pls
Pls do leoetviolette giani bag
How about DeMellier London NY bag? Polene Cyme or DeMellier NY bag which is better quality?
I like Polene more. I reviewed a DeMellier bag before but didn't like it that much. You may check all brands I've reviewed so far here: leathertainment.notion.site/
The DeMellier review is here: ua-cam.com/video/NqE7CJGkNpA/v-deo.htmlsi=KrV-d2uvcByvI7m6
Can you pls rebiew Venessa Bruno, a French label. I bought their moon bag in crinkle leather after decided against YSL Nikki die to the hefty price.
Hey
What do you think of putting Balenciaga and their leather to the test?
Can you review fleuron?
hi! could you please do a review of songmont?
Songmont is already included in my list of product reviews!
Can you review Fauré Le Page please? Thanks!
Your interest in a video review for Fauré Le Page bags is truly appreciated, and rest assured, it is on the List. The timeline for this is still being fine-tuned, but every item on our list will be thoughtfully addressed!
I think Polène is just okay. The leather quality is nowhere near other contemporary brands like Fossil, vintage Coach and Dooney and Bourke.
I don't agree with Fossil part as I reviewed their products. Some of Fossil leathers are pretty good butnothers are Okay. Most Polene leather on the other hand is great except this one in the video. Coach leathers I love and I have seen mixed leathers from D&B so far some great some poor
You're our leather guru, Tanner. Enjoy Spain & France & learn even more. 😊🌻
Can you please review Italian leather tote from Quince ?
Quince is already in my queue for a product review!
Any reviews of Demellier Vs Polene 😅😅
Which bag would you recommend to buy from them that is good high quality?
Most of my prior purchases was great. I really like their pebbled calfskins the most. So far I reviewed and loved Numero Uno and Tonka
Has he done a video of a Mulberry bag ?
Will you cut up a valextra bag please?
What are the bags at around 3m40s??
Have you done your research on Polène recently? They are getting A LOT of pushback. They have upped their prices twice in the last year of about +25% while crawling under complaints of their quality getting worse and worse, bags falling apart within months. They also have notoriously terrible customer support now. Many people in the handbag community are now staying away from the brand, despite sometimes owning and loving older models. I think it is extremely unfair to make a video in such a positive light of a brand that is currently being talked about a lot in such a negative way by the community.
Indeed, I was really surprised of the conclusion
I appreciate your patience and understanding. Although I'm not currently informed about the issue you're referring to, I will be visiting their Paris store later this week. Rest assured, I will delve into the matter and will update as I continue to navigate this situation, ensuring we uphold the quality and reliability you've come to expect from us in the leather industry.
He’s doing an unbiased review. Shouldn’t be influenced by Polene or bad reviews seen online.
That being said consumers can see this video and also do their own research
I ordered 4 Polene bags. One has a bottom corner that was not sealed nor seemed in properly. I requested a return and was rejected.
I didn't know they had problems with customer service. Hopefully, they fix it since they're now becoming more popular these days
I wish they open a store in India too or atleast make them available via Tata Cliq Luxe or Ajio Luxe !!
Hopefully they hear it :)
Is there any brand, making bags for men like POLÈNE? Somewhat affordable with quality leather?
