I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen this clip to this day. It's still so incredible. I watched it four times before I even wrote this comment. This was the pinnacle of skateboarding back in the 2000's. Hell, it's still the pinnacle to this day in many ways. There are like two or three pro skaters who can do ANY of the things Mullen did. I know Giger has underflips on lock and can do darkslides. Andy Anderson can probably do a lot of the manny stuff, and Griffin can do the trickier, faster flip tricks probably. But that's as far as it goes. Not one of the top pros could ever replicate this part, no matter how hard they tried. That's how much of a genius Mullen was/is. And this was, for many of us, the introduction to him. It inspired us, and simultaneously, it made us realize just how absolutely talentless we are when compared to the goat. And the song selection was on point, too. It fits the part perfectly, and is just an amazing song in it's own right.
Some japanese dudes are now killin it on freestyle. Some of them master the art of manual, casper, primo, truckstand ... so there's always a hope that the new generation will bring us some new innovative way to skate
I remembering replaying this video on THPS over, and over, and OVER again. So to watch this again with this exact soundtrack is really just mindblowing
This will always be one of my favorite skate videos. 1:15 all I can do is shake my head and laugh. Ridiculous. Dude is a human cheat code with the perfect balance.
thats were they got the video from .when u unlock the tape there are other tapes from other skaters .this was my favorite one.it was from tony hawk pro skater 3
and theyre both rubbing their armpits for some reason...I always wondered why the hell they were both rubbing their armpits, like ive sat there and pondered on it for like an hour. Actually now that I look at it, it just looks like theyre rolling up their sleeves hahahaha.
I used to watch this "*11 years ago*" when I was 18, and it still never fails to blow me away! The AFI song just as much. "Once there was a boy who had a vibrant glow.." Incredible.
@@iambiglucas no he isn't!! Mullen had to create his tricks, everyone since copies so go suck one.. Imitation is not better than the creation not matter what you think. Long Lives Tony Hawk!! I STILL have THPS3 on PlayStation 2! I got that game for Christmas in December 2003, as well as the blue 8MB PS2 Memory Card that I STILL use today!!!
Seriously no fucking body can touch Mullen he is the definition of "SKATEBOARDING" no fuckin way can anyone be as good as this man. I'm not a skater by any means and know it begins and ends with Rodney.
and lol to all you people who say you are better. if you are then good. you are imitating him you have invented nothing cause all the tricks you are doing he created. so his job is complete you are passing on his legacy to bad you are doing nothing to expand it. lol and he invented most of them on a fucking flatboard of all things. he makes his tricks look even easier on a board with two curved ends.
Lilith Immaculate Mullen innovated a lot more tricks and rose to fame a hell of a lot faster than Hawk. He may have gotten 3rd in his first ever comp, but I think he won like 40+ first place, in a row after that. Mullen.
Watching the video and even though being jaw-dropped because of the skills shown by Rodney Mullen, I think Bob Burnquist is better, he has always been, no doubt. I don't know why we don't find many videos about Bob free-styling, just Mega ramping, Vert ramping, and Skate parking, never on the streets and I say that because I've personally seen Bob doing tricks from another world in front of me, but only in events and competitions. He doesn't advertise him enough like Tony Hawk does, unfortunately. Tony Hawk is 90% marketing and 10% tricks, Bob is the opposite.

Idk why man. This guy just gets my vibe, and I literally just cannot vibe with anyone. It's mind boggling. That's why I'm chasing it all. I always saw hope for a future with my artistic expression but Rodney took that dream, and is living proof that we are capable of breaking the laws of what we really believe is possible. Huge bump 👊

Perfect video for this track. Used to jam out to old school AFI all the time while skating.
Oh oh oh oh
This era of skate punk was the best imo.. so many good bands and the pace of it suited skating perfectly..

It still is on Tony Hawk's Pro Skater.... They didn't remove it xD.

i think those tricks were normal back then cuz there were competitions for flatground tricks like that so they mustve been used to it but now
