I used to watch this "*11 years ago*" when I was 18, and it still never fails to blow me away! The AFI song just as much. "Once there was a boy who had a vibrant glow.." Incredible.
I remembering replaying this video on THPS over, and over, and OVER again. So to watch this again with this exact soundtrack is really just mindblowing
This will always be one of my favorite skate videos. 1:15 all I can do is shake my head and laugh. Ridiculous. Dude is a human cheat code with the perfect balance.
I couldn't tell you how many times I've seen this clip to this day. It's still so incredible. I watched it four times before I even wrote this comment. This was the pinnacle of skateboarding back in the 2000's. Hell, it's still the pinnacle to this day in many ways. There are like two or three pro skaters who can do ANY of the things Mullen did. I know Giger has underflips on lock and can do darkslides. Andy Anderson can probably do a lot of the manny stuff, and Griffin can do the trickier, faster flip tricks probably. But that's as far as it goes. Not one of the top pros could ever replicate this part, no matter how hard they tried. That's how much of a genius Mullen was/is. And this was, for many of us, the introduction to him. It inspired us, and simultaneously, it made us realize just how absolutely talentless we are when compared to the goat. And the song selection was on point, too. It fits the part perfectly, and is just an amazing song in it's own right.
Some japanese dudes are now killin it on freestyle. Some of them master the art of manual, casper, primo, truckstand ... so there's always a hope that the new generation will bring us some new innovative way to skate
and theyre both rubbing their armpits for some reason...I always wondered why the hell they were both rubbing their armpits, like ive sat there and pondered on it for like an hour. Actually now that I look at it, it just looks like theyre rolling up their sleeves hahahaha.
Long Lives Tony Hawk!! I STILL have THPS3 on PlayStation 2! I got that game for Christmas in December 2003, as well as the blue 8MB PS2 Memory Card that I STILL use today!!!
thats were they got the video from .when u unlock the tape there are other tapes from other skaters .this was my favorite one.it was from tony hawk pro skater 3
@@iambiglucas no he isn't!! Mullen had to create his tricks, everyone since copies so go suck one.. Imitation is not better than the creation not matter what you think. Mullen is and always will be the best skateboarder ever, he created every trick that is used today and if not its inspired from his tricks. That is being the best!!
Idk why man. This guy just gets my vibe, and I literally just cannot vibe with anyone. It's mind boggling. That's why I'm chasing it all. I always saw hope for a future with my artistic expression but Rodney took that dream, and is living proof that we are capable of breaking the laws of what we really believe is possible. Huge bump 👊
damn, I was watching this video all the time on VHS in around 2003 and I haven't seen it ever since... still feels like watching it yesterday!! the whole feels just so familiar!
I can remember having to finish the game with all the skaters to check out their videos, I never used Rodney Mullen much untill i saw his video lol then he was one of my favs.. I only liked the first 3 THPS and only on ps1 aswell.. great song and great game = perfect video
Rodney is a very talented skateboarder and the last time I had the pleasure of meeting him he was a thoroughly nice chap. So massive cudos to the Dude. 😈
I remember when i was 6 years old playing tony hawk's pro skater 3 while listen to this song,i thought what is this sound? i've never heard anything like that before and i loved it

Seriously no fucking body can touch Mullen he is the definition of "SKATEBOARDING" no fuckin way can anyone be as good as this man. I'm not a skater by any means and know it begins and ends with Rodney.
It's so awesome to watch a master at work Jesus Christ that he's not human he can't be human to be able to do that just so on point it's ridiculous but it's awesome to watch
God bless Rodney Mullen, he never lost his "glow".
Instablaster
Mullen's the reason I spent 100s of hours learning caspers, darkslides, and primo shit. Born in 89'. Skating, THPS and AFI meant everything to me :)

I remember being addict to this song on THPS3 when I was 9 lol *nostalgic*
Rodney the god of street skateboarding.

Rodney Mullen and AFI. Can't go wrong

man those people walking by at 0:23 just walked on by not knowing the greatest skater to walk the face of the planet was getting down
i think those tricks were normal back then cuz there were competitions for flatground tricks like that so they mustve been used to it but now
I would have lit up a joint and watched.
